• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

:worship:(Now who wants to take a crack at the D6...?)

I've been thinking for a while now to include the D6 in Yesteryears, but that is a way off. I'd like to see someone take a crack at the D6 as well.
They've posted enough decent reference images - and in some cases orthos - of most of them, that we could get a good mini-mod going. Textures excepting - my kryptonite it seems - I'd feel comfortable trying my hand at a few of the Federation designs.

I would love to contribute if I had the money. I just got done watching Prelude and it was extremely well done. They are up to $170,463 with still 22 days left to go.

Nuts I've had the itch this morning... so I've started digging up resource pics and turned on Maya. I now have a near completed "standard" Starfleet saucer (if you look all the older ships are pretty standardised).

Now at $172,500 (or close enough). That's 7 days, so if we extrapolate that to 28 days at the same rate of income that makes... $690,000 :y
So they may make it with a single campaign so long as they don't lose momentum!

Excellent! Which ones! I've been teaching at my university's Education Week for the last few days and I haven't had time to start.

Here's hoping!

Well in the last six hours I have completed all common components on the older Starfleet vessels and uv mapped them. So it shouldn't take too long to finish building Hermes, Geronimo, Korelev and Magellan.
I've got a long list of other meshes I should be texturing so I'm reluctant to do these... so if anyone else would like to do the textures when I'm finished building them please let me know. Perfectly happy to do all the hardpointing etc once they've been textured, but Starfleet aztecs are my real weak point.
Ares is not going to be part of this set as it doesn't share the same components.
Once I'd finished these off I was tempted to try my hand at the D6.

The ship chart is not mine, it's reference material found on the web.
Axanar_01 is mine, showing the common saucer, nacelle, rollbar and secondary hull.

(and at $173,906 - that's $1400 in six hours!)

kjc, I've contacted Wiley about using his Kelvin textures. Once I get the green light, I'll be willing to help you out in that department, with registries too. :)

Presumably they are trying to raise awareness - a strategy that is working well ($177,795)

Thanks Jetfreak. I was desperately trying to get the Hermes finished last night but then I found some more reference material at the eleventh hour (literally) which caused a need to make some changes, and then I started to make mistakes... so I guess I'd better finish it now :)

I don't have an issue with it really, unlike many fans. Indeed it one of those few really remarkable fan productions that are showing paramount ( I would hope they are playing attention) what a mistake they have made with Trek when they started to interfere with the last 3 series and eventually gave up on it altogether on the small screen.

I just got an award for being liked, so thanks all (I must remember to push the button more  )

The easy ones are now done: Hermes and Magellan (although there seems to be some contradictory references regarding names - I'm sticking with whats on the comparison chart).

And the Korolev.
Just one more to go... but it'll have to wait until I've replaced the toilet seat

Ok, two more not one, I lied. How could I not do a Kelvin (even though it hasn't made an appearance yet). The last one will have to wait a while as it's a little bit more complicated and I've burned out for the weekend.
The congratulations are gratefully received but not really deserved, after all each ship uses 90% of the same components and the style is rather basic (unlike the later ships). The only thing to really take credit for is the foresight to map the components before making the ships - so I only have to map the differences on each one rather than the entire ship every time.

Hey that's just using your head I know a lot of people who wouldn't even think of kitbashing the ships and re-make everything several times over.

The only thing to really take credit for is the foresight to map the components before making the ships - so I only have to map the differences on each one rather than the entire ship every time.

Again using your head, saves a lot of time I must agree I did that with my Yesteryears models for such parts as the nacelles, bridge, torp launchers. Does save a truckload of time.

Well, I hit 'like' on your post anyway. And Maj is right, kitbashes are the way to go with these. They're basically TOS ships, which were kitbashes anyway.

All right, Wiley has given us the go ahead and we can start with the texturing madness. :D

I've attached the necessary stuff, along with the needed modifications to fit in with the visual style of the Axanar CGI. The current registry is just a placeholder though, but that will be an easy fix.

I haven't converted any of the meshes out of Maya format yet. But here's the Korolev uv map as it stands today. I quickly added some labels so that you know what is what.

Good looking kjc, the labels really help out a lot. Progress is slow though, we've been experiencing power cuts all day, its getting annoying now. :(

I just watched this yesterday and I must say awesome work to the people behind this, clearly professional quality. I can't wait for the full thing to come out.

Well worth the wait then.

I can appreciate the frustration. If only life would stop getting in the way of our fun!

Anyways, whilst I still haven't found the block of time needed to convert the meshes or even finish the last ship, I have managed to get the uv maps for the other completed ships, and quickly threw on a rough texture (obviously nowhere near Jetfreaks high standards!) just to see how it looks in Kelvins skin.

(The observant among you may notice a slight error in my mapping )

Ah that's no biggy just mirror the whole mesh (ie so it's facing left to right rather than right to left) and it will be all good mate. :D

Good work.

That's a step in the right direction and gives us sort of a preview of the finished products. I suppose I can wait for the converted models themselves before I go all out on the textures. I certainly wouldn't want to jump the gun.

Still, very excited though. :)

I somehow managed to find the time to get one converted, so Korolev should be attached.
