• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

That's a nice start with those textures
As may be guessed, I am back and utterly exhausted (looong long couple of days) and all I want to do is sleep. But that'd be bad because I'd be wide awake tonight and thus exhausted again tomorrow. So I've converted another two, the Hermes and Magellan.

Jet, these should have fewer groups and the saucer poly count has been slightly reduced, but that shouldn't make any real difference to the existing maps.

Also attached is a shed load of reference material - images I've scavenged from various sites and some video captures. Just to be clear - I did not create these images.

Zelph - I would say that you are more than capable of doing these ships - in fact I'd say that most people could. As they are based on TOS aesthetics they are relatively simple, in fact in some respects they are simpler because the saucer doesn't have the complex curvature to it, they are more or less flat disks with a step. That's why the Consitution class and Ares class still look more advanced, the hull geometry (whilst still simplistic) is more organic with additional curves. All I'll possibly claim is that I could do it quicker, which comes down to experience saying how to more efficiently do different things. If you want to think of it a different way, I've cleared the road for you to build the Ares ;)

The ref pics are a big help kjc, thanks! Meanwhile, much progress with the texturing. Doing the stardrive was a real challenge but all that effort paid off in the end. I'm hoping to get the nacelles done so she should be all wrapped up by tomorrow. :)

Thanks for the vote of confidence man, once I get back home to Idaho tomorrow - I've been down in Utah the last week for a conference - methinks I'll try my hand at it. :)

As promised, the Korolev leaves the workshop in fine form. I'll let the pics speak for themselves. :)

More to follow as time permits!

Hey guys, I'm finished with the Hermes and Magellan. Doing these was easier as I had the Korolev already done. So it was basically just rearranging the needed stuff to their respective locations. Of course, I can't take all the credit for the material, as we'd be nowhere without Wiley's great textures.

Beautiful work as ever. I especially like the little lights on the back of the saucer ridge.
I've been a bit strapped for time the last few days, but I hope to get the last mesh done before the weekend.

Wow, those are awesome! Can´t wait to see more!

Since being a huge fan of Michael Hogan (Colonel Tigh) I have watched the two trailers hoping I could see the one-eyed Colonel as Starfleet Captain. No luck, so far, but the trailers surely got me hooked. I am really looking forward to this project. Richard Hatch is quite a good Klingon. I also noticed Kate Vernon (Mrs. Tigh!) as CO.
Definately something too look forward to!

Yeah, Michael Hogan will be in the main feature but not in Prelude sadly. I think they'll start filming for it in the fall, when the Con season here has cooled down a bit. They're really trying to spread the word and fundraise through those.

Also, I can't share the image because of privacy requests, but the old FASA Marklin-Class destroyer will be making a cameo - at least in still images - on the DVD/Bluray of Prelude. Something to look forward to!!!

Awesome! It was surely fun to watch. Convincing actors, great CGI, good storytelling!

Coriana 6? Its just a small tibit, but I think I remember that name from somewhere... :p

The Klingon cruiser above the colony kind of remembered me of Starcraft.

I picked up on the Coriana reference as well...

Jetfreak - apologies for the delay, the family showed up to spend the weekend. I've finally managed to finish and convert the Kelvin and Geronimo, the latter will require a bit more thought in texturing due to the different configuration. The Kelvin also has an updated uv map from what was previously posted.

Some pretty pictures are also attached for reference.

Good looking kjc! After a few hours of copypasta, I have some material of my own to show off. :)

I took some liberty with the Kelvin type (some sources say Einstein Class) and named her the USS Iowa. I remember that it was supposed to be the original name in Trek 09'. But it was found too cheeky as a reference.

The double hull Geromino was easier than I expected. Of course I had most of the heavy lifting done. A full on effort though with a lot of new details.

kjc, I've PM'd you the completed stuff. I guess it's time for the hardpointing and readme paperwork.

I'm quite happy to go Einstein class. Technically there are quite a few differences between the components used in these ships and the original Kelvin. The proportions of the nacelle and secondary hull are very different. Here I've just used the same hull and nacelle as the other ships but in the "Kelvin" configuration.

In any case, very nice job with the textures . I've already downloaded them and will start hardpointing as soon as I can find time.

I think it's because they made Space.com and Yahoo News again, right before the end. Methinks *knock on wood* that they might actually be able to make their $375,000 stretch goal.

Up to $338859. If I had disposable income, I would give $5000 and name one of the ships. ;)

If somebody does have 5 grand lying around, it would be pretty cool to name the ship something relating to MSFC.

Anyway, in the last ten hours or so they've rocketed from $373k (just shy of the 2nd stretch target) to $402,774! And there's still 57hrs to go...
