It's still a big improvement over the previous Jupiter-class.

This is my idea of what a Next Generation Starfighter Carrier
Seraphim Class
FedFighters (5).jpg
....
The Next Generation Starfighter Carrier not only should be bigger, but should have a compliment of 4 Fighter Squadrons and have enough Firepower at the Level of a Battleship/Dreadnought to Defend itself if it didn't have Support Ships with them (Escorts, Frigates, Destroyers and Cruisers).

And she is exactly that..:)

And STO gets it wrong once more who would have guested :lol2:

They came up with eight designs and got people to vote on them. The people voted for by far the worst of the eight in my opinion.

The Seraphim Class Starfighter Carrier is definitely better, nice Sleek Hull and has a similar layout to the Akira Class but bigger.

I personally like the Typhon Class Starfighter Carrier when it was first seen in the Playstation Game Star Trek Invasion it had a Battlestar feel to it but still keeping with Starship Design of the Federation. STO in my opinion should of evolved the Typhon Class Hull into something sleeker.

Another thing that bothers me about STO Design of the new Jupiter Class; is there still using the Peregrine Class Starfighter you think they would of used a updated version of the Valkerie Class Starfighter or the evolved version of the Valkerie Class the Gryphon Class Starfighter (Mod for ST:A2).

But in the end if your going to design a new Federation Starfighter Carrier to replace the Typhon Class there should be a brand new Starfighter to replace the Peregrine Class.

The ship from the Invasion game was the Typhoon. They are not permitted to use any material from any other games due to licensing restrictions and copyright laws. The Seraphim class is a real beauty and in many ways similar to the Armitage. They just designated it as a escort carrier rather than a full carrier. They did also design a new frigate for the new carrier as well.

Well that makes perfect since, I didn't take into account Licensing Restrictions and Copy Right Laws, I still personally think that STO went in the wrong direction for the Jupiter Class Starfighter Carrier, but it is what is.....its the Official STO Starfighter Carrier now.

I seem to have misplaced my last post on STO releases, but today it Open Jacket Uniforms - but its for Feds only.

I played the Anniversary episode today - Time travel? he whole galaxy to play with and we're back to time travel? Anyway, the episode was a nice mix of ground and space combat. The episode was a bit buggy though.

If you're playing in a glass cannon, be careful, the destroyers have a neat trick that prevents them taking damage.

EDIT - another 457MB patch, so perhaps the bugs will get fixed...

Maybe they'll give other uniforms to Klingon and Romulan players later?

Today it's T4 ships. The Ar’kala Tactical Warbird, the Puyjaq Class and the Sao Paulo, so one for all factions. Go go go!

Need to be at least level 30 to claim, though. You can't have a lower level character claim it then hold on to it until their an appropriate level.

I'm afraid the ugly stick shall rear it's uglifying head
Here's a question: is the ugly stick itself ugly or does it only make other things ugly?

Stats and pictures of all nine types are up

http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/9782283-star-trek-online:-federation-flagships

The klinks get bricks again, the Feds are... meh, and the Romulans are a mix.
I like that he Sojourner goes back to the concept drawing initially behind the Odyssey. Hopefully the parts can be mixed-and-matched to create some decent-looking ships. The hextuple nacelle concept for the Klingons is interesting...and not in a good way...

And the Romulan ships are looking more and more like blood splatters.

The Sojourner's nacelles are interesting, but I do not like its saucer. It's not that it's bad, (it worked fine on the Galaxy) but it just doesn't fit with the body and neck. The Klingon ships are pretty derivative and meh. I wish they could have thought up a new high end Romulan design without making more Scimitar variants. The Scimitar isn't even a Romulan design.

Discovered some fluff on the new Odysseys. The Yorktown looks pretty similar to the T5s to me, I've decided I don't like the Sojourner, but I find I'm starting to take to the looks of the Endeavour. The bow reminds me a little of a certain carrier...

EDIT -
Oh, and the traditional 20% off sale.

From now until 10AM PST on Monday, February 15th, 2016, we are having a 20% ship sale. Enjoy not just a discount on our ships, but fleet modules, dry dock slots and ship upgrade tokens as well! Have you been eyeing a new ship or ship bundle in the C-store? Now is the time to grab the ship you've always dreamt of commanding!

  • All ships in the C-Store are 20% off excluding the new Flagships (T6 versions of the Odyssey, Scimitar and Bortasqu’).
    • This includes bundles which are comprised only of ships.
    • This does not include bundles that have items other than ships in them.
  • The ship upgrade token, ship upgrade token bundle, and the fleet module are all 20% off as well.
  • Each time a player buys a Tier 5 ship, they will receive a free ship upgrade token.
    • This only occurs when the Tier 5 ship is bought for the first time on an account.
    • The Claim for this token will appear in the Promotions tab of the C-Store.
    • When the player clicks claim, they will receive a bound to account ship upgrade token in their inventory and the product will disappear from the promotions tab.
    • These tokens stack so if a player buys 3 Tier 5 ships at once, they will be able to claim the promotion 3 times.
    • Tier 5 Ship bundles will have the equivalent amount of tokens as the number of ships in the bundle.
      • Example: Buying the Dyson Mega Bundle will give players 9 tokens.
  • Dry dock slots are 20% off
  • The Pathfinder Voyager + Interior MT will be re-added to the store just for this sale period.
    • Players can only buy this if they have not already purchased the Pathfinder solo ship or the Intrepid Bundle.

*coughs and points up*

Well it seems that some nice combinations can be made with the Fed ships. I just wouldnt want to buy the pack to do it. Especially if it handles like a whale. But I do like the circular deflector.

I'm optimistic. The article didn't mention if our admirals would get skill points to spend, though. It irked me that my skill progression suddenly stopped with my Fed character.

I think what they may do is keep the specialization system, having it utilize separate currency from the revamped skill system. There wouldn't be much strategy to the skill system if you could continue earning infinite skill points and unlock everything in the new skill tree.

As you may expect, there's a thread running on the STO forums. The way I understand it, the skill system will resemble (but be separate from) the specialisation trees. You get skill points from leveling up with a maximum number of skill points which you allocate across the skill trees. How this works across the Engineering/Science/Tactical functions I don't know. Also how the current skills collapses into the new skills trees is unknown. We'll see.

Of course, but I stopped being able to spend skill points eight levels ago. I expected to be able to go to the level cap and nothing in the game warned me beforehand that I couldn't. Since this new system is directly tied to level, they may change that.

This is the second time they have revamped the skill tree. Never really fully understood everything at first. I have really just started to figure some things out. Perhaps this new system really will simplify things and make them easier to understand.
