• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

So aside from the Virtual Voyager stuff, are there other models you're planning on releasing from the old Future Tense mod? Any models that were in the first few stages of FT that were dropped near the end of the project?


Yeah, once we got the ball rolling with the new models, the ones they're replacing and stuff dropped will be released publically :)

Hey Darklight! I’m doing good, just going with the flow right now. Have another baby due in a couple of weeks, so prepping for that.

Trying to get as many models done for FT as I can before that happens, cause I know I’ll be very busy after.

That being said, the Romulan Bird is done, with textures. I will show it off later.

I built a Defiant Refit that I will share shortly as well.

It's a funky design, not sure what's happening with stations ATM as a few were keeping n others were deciding to retexture. Others r being replaced. Will letcha know :)

That's R5D5's Outpost, many of the models around the station are his ships, miniaturized. It's a wacky design but I like it, I currently use it as the advanced shipyards for my Federation Generation 2 faction.

I take it the main build HP is the largest drydock Archonon? And the repair one is the one underneath the building one? I don't have a program that displays HPs that I can change.

Adam I have plenty of mods that could be used as reference and ideas that you guys can use, though the fewer stations the better I reckon.

Can A1 stations be modular? I know you can use a research station to research a shipyard pod well at least I think it can. Could be cool for the Borg which I have seen you do in screenshots before. Though I think Borg should build below the battlefield, I think there is a programmable line of code for that in A1.

Hey Darklight, I do believe that you are right in terms of the HP locations on the model.

I checked the ODF, the build HP is simply listed as "build", while the repair HP is listed as "hp51".

The Unicomplex in A1 is very problematic as the AI isn't a fan if the shipyards build near the edges of the map but once it's all built and if you have a small ship and don't get too close to the central node (The Queen will see you as a thread and the collective will wake up to defend her) It's pretty cool to weave in and out of ships and nodes :p

Sorry for the long hiatus, been a bit turbulent with RL stuff. But work continues, largely putting new audio into the game for the units and making new weapons so not much to show at this point, however work on the new Nebula Class has been made :D

It might be a nice idea, but be careful about how much you modify the saucer. You've already got a lot of new stuff going on with the aft of the saucer and too much change in the saucer could change the feel of the craft

Agreed. I'll get the main ship done and then look at the indent as I still want it to look and identify as a Nebula kitted out for combat and exploration

I agree that the saucer is good as it is, and it will get better once you model the missing sections like the pod module. But I can see why you wanted to do what you thought... maybe you can retouch the mega-phaser-like structure?

If you are very keen on seeing an STD style saucer (Or any other changes to the original architectural design) you could always set those up as a specialized variant on your original Nebula. This ship could be used for specific types of missions and simply use the general "Nebula" hull as its framework.

The TNG Nebula hull had like 4 different variants with different pods or combination of engines, etc. Whose to say that a variant of your current Nebula wouldn't alter its saucer for whatever reason you wanted.

Course that's only if your heart is really set on seeing the design with those new touches; if you don't need a variant ship or the work is too much, then simply discard the idea.

Are you going to change space background so ships can be more visible in game?
And have you defined number of races in mod? Will be possible to add custom race like in A2?

Everything is being converted lol. The test map we've made literally makes it look like a brand new game lol.

Light sources from stars and nebula to cast shadows on your fleets and bases, high res textures so it's crystal clear...

Playable races we have are:

Federation
Klingon
Romulan
Reman
<Spoilers>
Borg Collective

There will be a few NPC in the forms of Tholians, Dominion and a few others depending on what map location you click and what quadrant you go into.

We have new nebulas too which are lookin' really cool too so wont be restricted to the basic four of the old Armada. We're also looking at alternate resource mining so you will be able to harvest resources from Moons like traditional ones, or from (planned) Gas Giant atmospheres and asteroids.

Can you select all five races in instant action??

Is there any way to improve diplomacy section of A1?? Or increase number of opponents in instant action, for example - 10??

I'm not sure was it mentioned on Armada Fleet Command or somewhere else, but can your mod support colonization like in A2??

Sorry if I ask too much questions, but I'm really excited to play this mod (as many other people too), and once mod is released I really want to add 5th race (or more) to stock A1! :) Hopefully you'll give us some tutorial how to do it lol! :)

In terms of diplomacy not conventional, we're in the process of creating a system where it gives the game a Borg Perspective of all units. Meaning that the AI will target something on the map based on 'threat' level, but will ignore ships if they fail to engage the Borg. So theoretically as long as your run a ship with weapons and shields down you can fly side by side by a Borg Cube. Obviously if you fly into Unimatrix One, the Borg will identify you as a threat! So be warned lol.

We looked at Planetary Starbases, so watch this space. Not high on the to do list, but we were looking at orbital tethers to allow resource transfers and officer quarters on planet surface.

You can select races in Instant Action.

In terms of races, its a tad complicated but hopefully will explain itself out to the player.

Currently the Addon folder has 1298 files inside it haha!

Imaging you have a idea and you will and you want to implement the idea.
And you know, all beta and other version beside your ídee aren't enough for your vision.

The Reman models themselves are gonna be remade with more details and textures as they're 10 years old some of them and compared to the more recent models, they look horrible haha!

No plans on Beta release, want to release it as one completed game rather than drip it out in parts with DLC drops lol!
