• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

That change to the spine makes a surprising amount of difference. I like it.
I think I prefer the new impulse engine, but now its a big black blob instead of a big red one. It's going to need some venting or something to break it up.

Mister Phantom it is so beyond awesome that you, Future Tense and it's team are back!!! I have feared the worst.

Welcome back mate, I am loving everything you have posted. Future Tense is one of the most wanted mods on my list! I am loving the Galaxy, I love how you stole (with permission I'm sure hehehe) kjc733's galaxy's bussard collectors. They look so good as does your Galaxy kjc733!

I kinda liked the Impulse engines as they were before more Phantom, but this is your mod, just offering my opinion. Though I do like the new ones as well. What about Phaser strips on the nacelles Phantom? Oh and some dark gray on the engineering hull, does seem to be feeling left out of the Dark gray highlights, hehehe. Maybe that part of hull directly after the engineering hull's impulse engine all the way to the aft torpedo launcher?

Have either of you seen the Galaxy EVO?

I may have missed it but why have you dropped the Sernaix and Virtual Voyager's stuff? Did I spell the alien race name right?

I hope you will do the Dominion (with the Cardassians), maybe even do the F.R.K. Alliance? Maybe even Mirror universe as enemies?

Anyway whoops rambling... Is any of the team besides EO on MSFC?

There are so many games and mods for design inspiration, I do hope the Achilles and Typhon classes are added to FT, along with the Fighters staring in Playstation's ST Invasion??? Please! lol

The new impulse engines are growing on me, cant help but think they kinda look like the Knight Rider KI3T sensors on the Mustang tho haha! May do a creepy animation :p

Next model I think is an Intrepid leap to another subtle refit design... ;)


Nice to see more old names appearing Dark Light, call me Adam ;)

I thought about a Phaser for the nacelles, but then it's kinda dangerous, one weapons overload and pop goes the engine lol.

The decision to drop the Sernaix and Virtual Voyager:

When the team reformed, we had a long chat and the decision I think was a clean sweep. We're not governed by pre-made 'stuff' as such. No limits and no need to be faithful to two universes. I wont divluge what 'enemy' is going to threaten the Milky Way, but they have been in Star Trek before in a handful of episodes... a few involved jaw dropping moments. Tis all I'll say at this point whilst were still concepting the ships and stations. The Sernaix will be released once we start work on Race 4 so people can use them in their games if they wish (as will the old U.S.S. Voyager-A) We well Sam has made a beautiful new U.S.S. Voyager and that and the standard issue Intrepid will get a new coat of paint in due course :D

Taras would kill me if I add ships took a few days to cull the fed list from the token '47' ship list to a suitable limit. lol

The top of the saucer looks too dark compared to the rest of the ship, but this looks great. Like others have said, this seems like a very realistic Galaxy Refit/Retrofit for the Post-Nemesis Era.

I love the Galaxy's deflector Adam! Oh about the Galaxy from All Good Things, I heard somewhere that the cannon can detach from the neck and retract allowing the ship to separate. But the cannon becomes unusable as the 3rd nacelle is its power generator. ;) :clap:

Oh please don't cylon the impulse engines Adam, :lol2::plan:

I'm really digging the way this is shaping out. Are the windows in the neck in leveled rows? Meaning that they are positioned to simulate decks. They seem kinda clumped together to be rooms, or am I looking at hallway windows that are all side by side? I have no idea of what the window layout is supposed to look like, lol.

Oh and I LOVE the '09 JJ-Prise! :p

Just had a thought, since all your new models have nice glowing windows, which is hard to do in Armada 1 - are you still working in A1 or have you moved to A2 or Fleet Ops?

Future Tense is for Armada I :D

Everything done in game is on a clean install with NO modifications to the original programming :D

And that (remembering some of the stuff from the old threads) is probably the most impressive thing about it. It's possible to do a great deal in Armada if you twist the odfs enough.

I wont lie, Taras did datamine the EXE as he was learning how to program at the time and by chance found unused ODF reference lines, so after tireless experimentation, stuff like subspace probes, minefields, 6 Special Weapon blocks (original 5) and other GUI features are working in game. But we have made no edits to the source files so no infringement or CBS C&D's, only ODF links :) I like to think of it as polishing off what was originally intended where we can :D

I bet it took a lot of work. I remember how long it took me to get the flak guns working in the BSG mod, and that was for just one special weapon!

I remember finding a line that let a weapon cause a specific shield effect when it hit instead of the default one. Could only use them from a pre-defined list of SOD names, though. And if I remember correctly, you could get that sixth special weapon slot by just mapping the button to the sixth slot and fiddling with the divider between the weapons and transporter button. Still not entirely sure how you're doing glowing windows, though. The only way I worked out involved doubling the poly count, which wasn't practical, to say the least.

Yup, the shields in FT will act like the skin shields in Nemesis, they also now have hit sounds, so you can hear the impacts if weapons strike the shields, or the hull, it's very cool :p ships also have an impulse ambience when moving too, it's very cool if you zoom in and a ship flies over the camera :p the Borg especially

Yup, still number one Armada 1 mod on my need list! ST Future Tense.
It's a real pitty that the camera cannot follow ships like in ST A2.

Is it possible to make the GUI smaller Adam?

I think you press F11 and it shrinks or use the cinematic view. I think we're planning a GUI tweak a little later anyway :)

Awesome. You guys said that FT was 80% complete, I take it that the remodelling has taken that back a bit and the rebalancing as you reduced the number of ships for Federation?

I saw some nice ships on Nexus Mods. Most are pepperman's models hehe. Hope some of these can fill the roles you need. I know the Remans need additional ships.

I wouldn't want to put a % on it at the moment.

Currently:
Going over the existing beta, cherry picking things to keep, things to update, things to drop. Making it manageable with no stress deadlines and working where we can, rather than rushing. We've dropped the Sernaix and planning the intergration of a new threat for the Alpha Quadrant from the library of foes from canon trek.

Had a look at the ships in the pic, haven't gone over the Remans yet, and Sam has made start to the Romulans so we'll see how we get on :D

Yeah the Virtual Voyager stuff will be released shortly, need to adjust the nodes to be compatible with base installs of Armada without FT links so they don't have any major bugs lol

So aside from the Virtual Voyager stuff, are there other models you're planning on releasing from the old Future Tense mod? Any models that were in the first few stages of FT that were dropped near the end of the project?
