Well I am still working on the second of two Pirate battleships, and have currently done four frigates, three of which I have included in this post.

Bring pirates they don't have a great deal of new units, most of their units date back to the Clone Wars and some are even conversions of transports and such.

The first of these units the Alderaanian War Frigate.
Dating back to the Clone Wars and was used by the Royal Alderaan Civil Fleet during the conflict. However after the conflict and the disarmament and dismantlement of Alderaan and it's defence fleet many War Frigates were converted into freighters and sold off to transport firms and other smaller outer-rim governments, others were confiscated by Imperial forces and used briefly in the Imperial Navy before being shipped off to Imperial Decommissioning/Storage Depots. A rather weak frigate and not much larger than the average corvette, War Frigates today are a rare sight with most in the hands of pirates and other miscellaneous groups and a couple have even been sighted in small Rebel fleets.

The second frigate shown is the Interceptor Frigate.
A conversion of the popular Action class transports and can be found throughout the galaxy in hands of pirates, rebels and small planetary governments. Armed with six turbolasers and a group of four proton torpedo tubes facing forward and with shielding roughly equivalent to the much larger EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate the Interceptor frigate is cheap and quick to produce.

The last is the Interceptor IV frigate.
A upgrade of the Interceptor frigate, the Interceptor IV is unique to Consortium forces. Built on Ryloth, the capital of the Zann Consortium, Interceptor IV frigates have superior shielding and improved weaponry over the previous model. The Interceptor IV however still remained a cheap, yet versatile vessel and possessed powerful engines allowing it to reach extremely high sublight velocities for a vessel of its size. The ship's weakness was its lightly armoured hull but had stronger shields to it's predecessor.

I will do my utmost best to accomodate you TF, though I'm not wanting to go out for the time being due to health reasons so with any luck he will continue doing what he has been doing! Pluse I think the bullwhip Syf gave me will help with the inspiration! ;)

So that's an Alderaani War Cruiser eh? I read about them in The Bacta War and was always curious as to what they looked like. Pretty sweet!

Since you've done the larger pirate ships, what think ye of the fighters? I liked the heavier ones in EaW more than the Star Vipers in FoC. Although the gunboats there looked good.

:lol2: Thank you my lord.

Yeah I have been doing my fair share of modelling lately.

So that's an Alderaani War Cruiser eh? I read about them in The Bacta War and was always curious as to what they looked like. Pretty sweet!

Yes I found some images on Wookiepedia and thought it would make a good pirate frigate.

Since you've done the larger pirate ships, what think ye of the fighters? I liked the heavier ones in EaW more than the Star Vipers in FoC. Although the gunboats there looked good.

Each faction will have about five fighters, one or two of those being bombers. Using the replace weapon command I am planning to give the player the option of what fighters the ship will launch.
I am personally a huge fan of the Star Vipers, however the fighters you do speak of will probably be available to the Black Sun map race. Why I am making them map instead of full, is simply they don't have the same amount of capital ships available as the Consortium does. Also the reason I want to keep the Star Vipers is in the game much of the Zann's technology is Mandalorian, due to Zann occupying the space over Mandalore. So I am planning some weapons like Mandalorian boarding parties and such. Pretty much the Mandalorian's are working for the Consortium rather than their own faction or working with the Black Sun or anyone else.

I am hoping maybe if I ever get that far to perhaps turn the Black Sun into a full-race playable faction who is a spammer and doesn't rely on battleships. But for now Zann, Rebels and Imperials are who I am focusing on with them emphasis of getting all the Zann pirate models completed first. Which to be honest apart from the stations I am not all that far away. Just got one more battleship, a frigate and three of the four corvettes to do.

Sounds good. So what's the hold up? Be careful or I might have to do something about it.

Hey I think I do pretty well for myself, I get quite a few models a week done, sometimes one a day depending on the model. These high poly and high detailed models take time you know. :p

Actually I am after I go and have a shower, sorry Thunder, Kat doesn't know where my chain is, at least I hope she doesn't, I am going to start on a Acclamator II for the Imperials (Already done the Acclamator I). I am going to do a model or two for the other factions before heading back to Zann. I am thinking of getting all the fighters done too as they will all be under the 1500 poly mark. All capital ships however will be over the 3k mark. So I should be able to nail the fighters out fairly quickly.

Ain't that the truth. To make all the textures by hand (and having them just right) will be a tedious task to say the least.

Yeah textures I feel do most of the time take longer than the actual model it's designed to skin. Tedious is certainly the case and I think it's a reason many don't bother making their own textures and why sometimes models take so long to come out.

Well last night I completed the Acclamator II, which I like more than the Acclamator I. Yes they are different models, I had to rebuild my Acclamator I model about 50% to get the Acclamator I, My idea for having two is that the first version, the one seen in the Clone Wars is used for boarding actions, to take over vessels, as transporters don't exist in Star Wars so will make capturing ships a lot harder. The second version is a Star Cruiser, it has a fighter bay and increased weapons and often used to escort larger cruisers and battleships like the Imperial class Star Destroyers.

Also last night I started to the fighters, decided to crank them out and complete them, considering they are low poly and would be much quicker to do than a corvette or frigate etc.

Sweet!

Out of all the Republic/Imperial ships, I liked the Venator the most. Thing just looks cool, and seeing it trade broadsides with a CIS cruiser in RotS was just epic. I'm looking forward to seeing yours!

So you're thinking five types of fighters/bombers for each race? What others are you considering for Zann besides the Star Viper and Skipray Blastboat? Z-95s and the like?

I too am a fan of the Venator I prefer it to Imperial Star Destroyers, coming a close second is the Acclamator. The Venator will be buildable, but not for the Imperials but for the Zann. The Imperials have phased out the Venator and the only ones still in the Imperial Navy are in backwater systems on defence duties.

Well for fighters this is what I am thinking:

Rebellion
  • T65 X-wing
  • RZ-1 A-wing
  • BLT Y-wing
  • B-Wing
  • Z-95 Headhunter

Empire
  • Tie Fighter
  • Tie Bomber
  • Tie Interceptor
  • Tie Defender
  • Tie Phantom

Zann
  • Starviper
  • Bes'uliik *A Mandalorian design, fan made I believe but canon in books*
  • V-wing
  • GAT-12 Skipray Blastboat
  • Viper Fighter *It's fan made I think* This one is not set in stone however

I am also setting up an elaborate tech tree. Like in EAW your Starbase is actually a research facility which you upgrade as you progress. However, I am setting it up where there are certain research options only available on that tier/level and if you rush to get to the battleships you'll be unable to research those options later on. Also for defence your starbase not only has weapons but can like carriers produce fighters to help protect itself.

Also as a starting unit is a manufacturing facility that builds the construction and utility vessels. You can build more of these but you can only build one starbase, only after the first is lost can you build another. Well that's the grand plan at least.

Yesterday I went out a nailed the Rebel fighters getting all five completed in the modelling department. Which one was the most difficult? The B-wing for sure and it ended up the highest in poly count. All these ones are roughly based off the stock EAW/FOC models.

My favourite you ask? Probably the A-wing which is also I think the lowest in poly's, sitting in under 1k.

What is your favourite?

Excellent looking models Majestic! Nice to see all the rebel fighters present and accounted for :)

I think my favourite is the B-Wing, I've always likes the sideways design style that sets it apart from all the others. Of course the X-Wing is pretty much the gold standard from a SW fanboy point of view

Awesome work

Ooooohhh! More stuff to like! These are really quite good! The Y-Wing looks nearly perfect! I used to own the games X-Wing and TIE Fighter back in the day. I was a pretty fair Y-Wing pilot, too. Something about having a solidly constructed gun platform which was stable enough to take a high deflection angle shot with a very good PK percentage and having an extra pair of eyeballs watching 'six' just appealed to me. And nothing else I ever flew in either game could split ess half as well.

"Tango, Lead. Shields double front. Gunners switch to ion cannons. Follow me. Leave the cripples for the crosses and the speeders. We're going in after the heavy, still healthy, targets. Acknowledge, over."

Ahh, memories! Thanks, Maj!

The Z-95 Headhunter made its first appearance in a novel called, Han Solo at Star's End. Along with the polity known as the Corporate Sector Authority. It is a prequel which features Han, Chewie and a whole bunch of people whom he was smuggling for, from and generally making a nuisance of himself with.

I still have those games actually, at least X-wing vs Tie Fighter. Awesome games for their time too. I remember the copy I got actually had the discs mislabelled were the single player disk was actually the multiplayer one and visa versa.

You're most welcome and thanks. I remember back in like 95/96 I was into Star Trek and my mate was into Star Wars and we used to give each other for birthdays the 3 pack micro machines sets. I remember getting him the one with the Y-wing in it and thinking it looked like a Star Trek fighter due to the engines looking like warp nacelles. Many battles there with us shooting each other and playing Star Trek vs Star Wars just out of fun.

But where is the E-Wing???

Well going by this site, (E-wing escort starfighter - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki) the E-wing was a New Republic design and unlike the SW Fleet Command Mod, mine is set somewhere between Sw4 and SW5. I might do one for kicks though, make it that at level 5 the starbase spawns them or something, who knows. I am also thinking of doing a ARC-170 for the Rebels, something on an early fighter for them before they get X-wings and Y-wings.

I like your selection. Where is the head hunter from though? I had never seen in before I played the old SW vs ST mod.

Yes the Headhunter was the predecessor to the X-wing, but Revenge of the Sith kind of threw that out with the ARC-170, so it is really how considered by many as the predecessor to the ARC-170.
The Z-95 was considered outdated by the time of the Battle of Naboo 10 years before the Clone Wars, so it's really old by the time of the Rebel Alliance.

Loving the awesome progress man, really shows your level of motivation to flesh out the ships.

Yes I am motivated atm, which is rather rare for me to be this motivated. I am pushing forward and I am hoping to at least get most of the models done before I loose interest. I am just glad so many people are commenting now and letting me know they like the work I am doing as I think that alone is encouraging me to stick with it rather than just move on.

Oh, nice. My personal favorite is the Y-Wing - the X-Wing is so ubiquitous... so mainstream... heh, I sound like Hipster Kitteh.

Hm, where do you set your work temporally? BBY I would say keep it in, it's not that old. ABY I agree. In any case, I'd love to see the Venator MkII.

Well them the stock B-wing from FOC is wrong as well as I used that model to base mine off.

Do you like the V-wing from ROTS? As I finished that one last night. ;)

unlike the SW Fleet Command Mod, mine is set somewhere between Sw4 and SW5.

Quoted ^ for reference. 2-3ABY would be the rough timeframe for this. Around the time of Empire Strikes Back.
Hence the retirement of the Venator most were sold off to loyal planetary governments for their own defence and they in turn got intimidated by the Consortium, and were given to the Consortium in exchange for being left alone. Others just sold them outright and some were stolen or still in the Imperial Navy and just assigned to back-water systems.
The Emperor wanted to phase them out as he wanted to position himself away from the Empire's roots of being once the Old Republic, which the Venator was a symbol of the Republic during the Clone Wars like the Imperial Star Destroyer is a symbol of the Empire. It's all about politics.
