Well after watching a lot of the Clone Wars on TV (with season 2 finishing tomorrow) and playing a bit of Empire at War (which I so prefer FO and A2 over personally as a whole) I felt compelled to play around with Star Wars a little.

Just having some fun with some models and all, I would like to show the Imperial (aka Imperator) and Victory class Star Destroyers from the Original Trilogy. Though my main focus will of course be on the Clone Wars era, you can't forget the classics. :cool:

Well, very nice work. I particularly like the attention to the details that's the classic Majestic compromise between perfection and poly count. Good mesh.

Are these just going to be meshes, or are you going to eventually texture for release? I've been looking for a good ISD and VSD model pair for a while now, and this one appears to be just what I've been waiting for.

Thank you. I would like to texture them eventually and release them, However texturing takes so much time on these non-Trek models that I am unsure atm.

Oh and the poly count for these are around 4k give or take 100 poly's.

Well it's been over two weeks since I posted anything, pretty unusual for me huh? So what exactly have I've been doing with my time? Well I have been playing SWEAW, had another shot at Sins of a Solar Empire (which I regret, so not my game) and been doing a bit of reading.

Oh and I have been doing this.

+Rep from me, this is awesome. Only thing that appears to be missing is the bomber but hey, you've got TIE models I didn't even know of, so no shouting from me.

Thank you, I still have a few more to do, including the Bomber X1 Advanced (Vaders Tie), Scimitar Bomber, Defender and a couple original and non-canon designs including a Imperial V-wing design that fills the gap between the Alpha3 V-wing from SW3 and the Tie from SW4. .

However at the moment I have been working on some corvettes and frigates, I decided about 4 days ago or so to take a break from the fighters. However I do have intentions at the moment to get back to them eventually. :thumbsup:

It;s been almost 3 weeks since my last post about anything I have done in modelling/modding. Time for an update. Been podding away at Star Wars still and have done heaps, a total of around 10 high quality models ranging from 3k-4.5k in poly's.

I am only showing a couple off today, I still have to finish my Corellian Corvette series and Imperial Star Destroyer line and will hold off showing them until I have finished those off. However I have a few recent models that I would like to show.

The first was the hardest of the lot and something I started a couple of weeks back and only finished yesterday after coming back to it.

Marauder class Corvette
Designed in the days of the Old Republic just prior to the Clone Wars, the Marauder was considered one of Republic Sienar Systems rare failures due to few being purchased due to the Republic's inefficient bureaucracy and not any problems with the ship itself. The rights and plans of the design was eventually sold to the Corporate Sector Authority whom produced the ship en-mass and by the time of 0ABY they were found all over the galaxy, some in the hands of pirates and others in the hands of Smugglers and even several being used by the Rebel Alliance.

Marauder01.png Marauder03.png Marauder02.png

Quasar class Frigate
Designed by the Sullustan mega-corporation SoroSuub, the Quasar class were in fact designed as large freighters. Donated to the Rebel Alliance by Virgillian Free Alignment, many Quasars which were in-turn donated to them by the Sullustan's and modified by the Virgillian's using stolen Imperial grade weapons and shields. They were turned into fighter carriers to serve in their war against Imperial domination.
In Rebel hands the Quasars served as fighter carriers, able to support 50 fighters, and were used in a frigate role to support large cruisers with their fighter compliment the biggest advantage the Quasars brought to the battlefield.

Quasar01.png Quasar02.png Quasar03.png

Corellian DP Gunship Series
The DP series of Gunships were produced by Corellian Engineering Corporation as a heavy alternative to the CR series Corvettes. Designed as a anti-pirate/heavy transport, the DP series were sold mainly to small government bodies for the protection against pirate raids. Some important officials utilised them as heavy transports capable of fending off all but the most determined and powerful crime organisations and raids. Even some Imperial Officials were known to favour them as their personal transports. Based off the CR70 concept, the DP10 was the first successful DP Gunship however a number of flaws plagued the vessel shortly after release and even with sufficient upgrades, not all of these flaws were fully ironed out, it's successor the DP20, was a step up, but also much more costly. Many DP10's found their way into the hands of the very pirates that they were designed to combat, and that is were the majority of them can be found today, with few local government's using them. The DP20 is more widely used and have become famous in the hands of the Rebel Alliance, who use them to great effect.

Loving those Corellian Gunships! One of my favorite units whilst playing EaW.

Don't recognize the Quasar though, was that in the game?

No it wasn't, it was I believe in X-wing or Rebellion, as a counter/Rebel version to the Imperial Escort Carrier.

I thought you meant the Imperial Escort Carrier they used in Rogue Squadron 3 for a second, then I looked up the X-Wing game. Dream deferred...

Thanks Avon, I am now working on Pirates. :)

Zebh I was thinking of actually doing the RS3 escort carrier, but decided it just didn't fit with the style of the Imperials. However I have had thought's of giving it to the pirates, I am not sure.

Unfortunately I didn't get any work done today nor will I get any done tomorrow, however the following day I am hoping to finish up a pirate frigate. If anyone is interested in the other models I have done, just let me know and I'll see about posting up some images.

Okay then, let's see how these go, here is my Corellian Series, albeit incomplete. I still want to do a couple of more designs the most notably the CR80. However this is how it stands at the moment.

[fieldset=C70]C70 Class
Known as the Consular class before the war, during the outbreak of the Clone Wars where ships were far and few for the Republic Corellia retrofitted the Republic's fleet of Consular class vessels into frigates/corvettes to serve in the conflict.
Today many are found in private hands with many more in the Corsec Security forces (Corellia System Security Fleet) and some in hands of pirates.

C70_01.png C70_02.png[/fieldset]

[fieldset=CR40]CR40 Class
A unknown class by many, the CR40 is a aging design produced some 50-60 years before the Clone Wars. While not having the speed that made the later models in the CR series famous, the CR40 is a more bulkier design and was in it's day a popular smuggler vessel. Other uses included transport for politicians and important business people and some retrofitted privately as a system patrol vessel.

CR40_01.png CR40_02.png[/fieldset]

[fieldset=CR70]CR70 Class
Released at the time of the battle for Naboo, 10 years before the Clone Wars, the CR70 was the model that increased the popularity of the CR series. Due to it's speed and manoeuvrability, the class was a widely sought after model with orders flooding into CEC. Even 20 years after it's initial release and the release of the CR80, many were bought up by all finds of people for all kinds of purposes thanks to it's easily adaptability and reliability.

CR70_01.png CR70_02.png[/fieldset]

[fieldset=CR90]CR90 Class
After the less than successful CR80 design, the CR90 went back to it's CR70 roots, bring back the speed and manoeuvrability that made it great. The CR90 is more armoured and armed than it's CR70 predecessor to reflect the more dangerous times. Not long after the CR90 release, the Vanguard Retrofit service was offered to CR70 owners to bring their CR70's more up to date and in-line with the CR90's. Few took the opportunity as most had already been privately upgraded to fit their owners needs. Many in the Galactic Senate used CR90's as transports and the Rebel Alliance used them as fast corvettes capable to breaking Imperial blockades giving them the name Rebel Blockade Runner.

CR90_01.png CR90_02.png[/fieldset]

[fieldset=CR95]CR95 Class
Created as a more militarised version of the CR90, official records claim that these don't exist and they are in fact modified CR90's done in private hands. In reality, with the loss of business since the fall of the Republic and the apparent dislike of the company by the Emperor due to past experiences with him when he was a Senator, the CEC unofficially backed the Rebellion in hoping that if successful it would being them official government contracts when they rose to power. Due to this all references to the CR95 were hidden to Imperial Agents and Officials and CR95's were built in private/hidden factories with few made due to the slow nature and secrecy of the project. Nevertheless they performed extremely well in combat far exceeding the CR90 and made up an important part of the Rebellion corvette fleet.

CR95_01.png CR95_02.png[/fieldset]

[fieldset=Sundered Heart]Sundered Heart aka CR70a Class
The Sundered Heart is a privately owned vessel by the Alderan Royal Family, originally used as a diplomatic escort and was later donated to the Rebellion and refitted for even more speed. A unique class with few others refitted in this same way and was commanded by Captain Raymus Antilles.

That was stinkin awesome...Corellian ships look great man. Are you thinking of making them a separate race?

Also, random. Have you put any thought into trying to come up with a design for the Corellian Dreadnaught? I know descriptions of it are somewhat vague/lacking.

Props again though dude, looks great.

Right now I am just modelling, making models. I am not even worrying about texturing them yet. However if I ever did a mod, I would probably have them as a map faction. Perhaps when I have enough models complete I could help form a team to work on a successor to SWFC. As Jetfreak pointed out the other day to me, the models in there haven't aged well and not up to today stands. The models I have been doing are fairly high poly with Corvettes around 3500 and Cruisers and Battleships as far as 4500.

Not really, I have always liked the idea of the Corellians fielding smaller more nimble craft. However if I was to do a Dreadnaught, it probably would be a hybrid of standard Corellian lineage and Imperial dagger style vessels. Perhaps if I did a mod and did make a Corellian Dreadnaught, it could be a campaign mission were the Imperials find out about it and attack the traitorous Corellians and attempt to seize or destroy the craft.

Props again though dude, looks great.

Many thanks, I love comments, and feedback of substance. :thumbsup:

Wow, somehow I must have missed this post! I love the Corellian blockade runners since I saw the Tantive IV in the beginning of Episode IV. For some reason I find them much cooler than the X-Wing fighters everyone is ranting about. This is some very fine work man, can't wait to see them fully textured!

Oh, and I didn't know that the Consular was a Corellian design. Makes sense though... :idea:

I just had the same realization. *facepalm*

And I'm seriously excited to get the Sundered Heart in A2. I use that little ship all the time in EaW. In a swarm of various Corellian designs she makes a fantastic lead ship. :D

Some seriously awesome modelling Majestic! I've always really liked Corellian designs, it's great to see someone doing them justice :)

I really hope you'll take on the task of texturing these (hooray for alliteration lol), I'd be first in line to download them :thumbsup:

Great stuff Majestic. I love these ships, especially the little c70 as seen in the clone wars series. I made one myself, but yours is far better than my effort:thumbsup:

These are truly wonderful! I have not played EaW in a very long time but these are far better than the ones in there as well. Well done, indeed! I know your preference is for modelling for FleetOps. However, would you have an objection to someone trying to port these over to EaW or FoC?

Thank you all.

Yeah the Consular is Corellian, it has similar elements and is in the Episode 1 Guide I believe, plus it's plastered all over the Canon Wikipedia for Star Wars. I always liked the C70 Consular, and liked how they militarised them in the Clone Wars. :)

The Sundered Heart I built off the CR70 rather then the CR90 due to the fact that George Lucus actually stated that Organa's ship in Revenge of the Sith is actually the Sundered Heart and not the Tantive IV as a way to explain the differences between the two design from the two movies. That is also were the CR70 design originated from as well. I am considering the option of retrofitting some CR70's to the Sundered Heart specifications if I ever put these in-game. Perhaps as an avatar option or something but have it restrictive for a number of reason most notably the poly count on the Sundered Heart.

As far as texturing I really want to get the models I have planned finished before I start looking at the textures. As if I get that far with all the textures, I might get a few volunteers and start up a group to help me bring a Star Wars mod to FO, and while the group members dig into the coding and balancing I can finish up the models with textures.

I am actually considering after the texture process seeing about rigging them for EAW if I can and make a little replacement mod that replaces the stock units with the ones I have done. As like stock A2 the original models are of rather poor quality especially the ones in EAW, the ones in FOC seem to be build much better so either they had more time to do better quality models or they had a new modelling team.

At the moment I am focusing on the pirates and have completed two frigates and almost done a battleship. I plan to complete another frigate or two, and the second battleship before I do another screenshot post. I really like the Zann in FOC, and are determined to do a complete model set for them as well.

The one thing that might deter people away from these models are their poly counts. So far my aim is to have corvettes and gunships under the 3,500 mark which only the C70 has surpassed to about 3,700. Frigates I am attempting to keep under the 4,500 mark and Cruisers and Battleships under the 5,500 mark, which I have easily been able to do, in fact some are as low as 3,000 and some only 4,000.

Overall the models are pretty high but I really want the detail in these and if it is a problem down the track with frame rates I can do a simple lod where the detail is removed and only the base model itself is the lod.

I'll be texturing them in such a way that I won't have to even re-texture the lod model as the armour will over lap the hull on the texture and so the armour detail will also be under the armour plates on the model hidden by the armour on the final product. It pays to think ahead sometimes, especially when you are building the models as it allows you to build the models from the ground up in a way that saves you time and frustration. :thumbsup:
