To be honest, I'm not a Star Wars fan . The visual effects are alright but I always find it sooo... clichéd that it makes me wince.

To be honest, Star Wars installments seem to get better as George Lucas' involvement shrinks. Knights of the Old Republic, for instance, is an excellent game and pretty much all of his involvement was that Lucas Arts was the publisher. On the other hand, Lucas got more creative control for the prequels than he did for the original trilogy and I think we all know how that turned out.

And a bit more on topic, I really like the Republic Star Destroyer model.

Thanks all, glad you all like them even if Star Wars isn't really your thing.

I've moved onto other genres atm, but will return in due time. Being a bit of jack of all trades atm. But everything I do will be released in short order here at MSFC. My aim mission still to finish up and release as much as possible. I got a little side tracked with the BSG models making a couple of new ones, but back on track with 2-3 totally different models that I am currently working on with the textures, both I think will be well accepted once they are released.

Well I am back doing some Star Wars work again, here is my latest endeavor, the non-canon T-20 H-wing, a predecessor to the T-65 X-wing.

The design is by one of my DeviantART friends, Adam Kopala, he was kind enough to send me his high poly versions of several of his Star Wars fighters and I'm making low poly versions of them.

H-wing.jpg

This was about a day (8+ hours) worth of texturing and around 4-6 hours of modelling.

Even if Star Wars isn't my thing (do like to watch it though), these models look fantastic. Excellent work!

Thank you both.

Another model has been done, it's another design by Adam Kopala, the Kuat Gamma 2, made after Incom folded. The Gamma 2 could be considered a successor to such designs as the V-wing, Delta-7 and Eta-2.

And here all my current Republic and Rebel fighters.

I'm really liking the variety in these models, and yet its clear that they are part of the same design philosophy. More than that, they are all have just the right amount of detail. Awesome work :)

Thanks Mr Vulcan, I am glad you like the models.

Here is my latest endeavor, the B-wing, the last of the canon Rebel fighters.

And the fleet as it stands:

They look great Majestic. Question on scale is the A wing supose to be so big and the bombers so small?

It's a perspective error, it's actually smaller than it looks in the image, same with the gamma 2. I might do a top/down view to show the correct sizes without any perspective errors.

Thanks Zax I wasn't sure when building her whether I should make her the way she is (attack position) or turned on her axis as if she had her s-foils closed, I ultimately decided on the attack position.

I have a heap more fighters on the way, including some Clone Wars designs, a re-design Z-95 (to replace the first model I made) and some more of Adam Kopala's non-canon fighters.

Awesome news man, cant wait. Honestly, I like the other configuration better, but I realize it is not in attack position. I would love to design a replaceweapon or even better, an animation that would allow fighters to go into attack position when attacking. It would be pretty cool, but the game would have to be a little more fighter focused than my current star wars project as my fighters are so small, you can barely see them even when fully zoomed in.

Animations would be cool, how possible it would be is another story. The X-wing wouldn't be too hard but with the B-wing turning on it's axis would cause issues, especially with hardpointing. I may look at releasing the model in both positions that way as you say a replace weapon could be made or at the very least people can't choose their favourite version to use.

When I get enough fighters done I want to make a small fighter mod, where all your forces are fighters, no capitals at all expect for perhaps a construction ship to build stations.

Just dropping by to note that I have decided to scrap this project. I may continue from time to time to make and texture Star Wars models and release here at MSFC. However if I do they will be few and not seen released all that often.

This is part of a clean up process I am doing realizing that I simply can't on my own make this project viable.

Same here. Its sad to hear but I definitely understand. A lot of work for very small group of users. I'm thinking of moving on to other games myself, but we'll see how much time I actually have in the future for things like that.

Hello:
Well, I can understand that too, but what keeps me modding is the fact that I am modding for myself mainly, because I enjoy making those 3d models.

Maybe someday we will get to see more stuff from you Majestic, you may not have tons of users downloading your ships, but these users are still interested in all what you have to show.

You'll certainly see more stuff from me, probably smaller releases or the completion of YY and TCW. The latter I want to finish this year, the Earth faction that is. And then really get YY into full swing if for no other reason than to say to myself it may have taken me a long time, but I got it finished. :)

Yeah I'll say you're the longest running full-time supporter of YY. It's the texturing that really slows me down on projects, it just takes so long to do. :lol2:

I thought you'd got all the ships done now - unless I'm getting mixed up and it was just the fed ships that were complete?
Must be difficult though... I have enough trouble with the paint tool in the wrestling games when I'm trying to make designs for attires/tattoos. Can't imagine trying to do a ship, especially the iconic ones that everyone recognises

All the ships and stations for the Earth/Federation in both mods are modelled and just need the paint added. TCW Earth faction is actually pretty close with only 3 ships needing to be mapped and textured and all the stations mapped and just needing the textures made for them. Hence why I plan on finishing that off this year and 2014 I want to try and get the Fed side of YY done.

Doing a model, as in modelling it can take up to 10-12 hours depending on the detail and the accuracy of the model (canon ones are a real pain). Texturing the thing can take anywhere from 2-3 times longer again depending on how long mapping is and how much detail I put into it. I try and use a detailed aztec pattern and layer effects to get the detail/depth in for me saving me time and making the whole job easier. Texturing is the real time consuming thing and I feel it's a reason many people try and avoid it. But it is worth it at the end of the day as a quality texture can make a low poly model look much more detailed than it actually is. The Star Wars fighters were actually pretty easy in the texturing department and a reason I could pump them out so quickly.

A little something I decided to finish up. Taking a break from YY to do a few other things and just to take a break.

KoensayrF.jpg

A design by Adam, this is small bomber/fighter designed by the same company as the Y-wing and used by the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars.

Been playing around a bit today, taking the day off to relax.

I have happened to do two ships today, the first is the Star Destroyer. I did this as part of a commission but the commissioner decided afterwards to merge his project with another one and so isn't using any of my models anymore. Considering I was building this design for A2 to start with, and since he is no longer using it, I see no reason why I can't release it here in the future.

ImperialStarDestroyer.jpg

The second is a design by Adam Kopala, and the model is actually by Warb Null. I re-textured it to match my Star Destroyer and unlike Adam Kopala who had this as a Rebel design and Warb Null as a Galactic Alliance design I have chosen to make it an Imperial design. I think it works well for all 3, but I liked it most as an Imperial one so I went with it.

Nice work Majestic. I really like that second ship as well. Kind of a cross between a Venator class and an ISD sort of?
