Yeah now the Mark 1 has it's own model. Yup couldn't resist that either. I still have some work to do on her as well as the other Vipers, just some minor texture additions and adjustments but I have now gone back and updated the mark 2 Viper so it too can have unique name plaques.

And all 3 Vipers in formation.

EDIT:

Well this was a real main to model, took a while to texture but it came out okay I think. Not my best work by any means.

The classic Cylon Raider has always been a favourite of mine, so I had to attempt it. It's different to the one seen in Razor, I never knew this until I was half way through modelling it last night, or was it early this morning?

So all those Cylon fans out there, "The final annihilation of the life form known as man, let the attack begin!"

Ah its nice to see an old Cylon raider finally. Man, I wish I still had the toy one of these that I owned as a kid.

Now if only we could get someone to animate the wings opening and closing......

I do have intentions to do more classic BSG models down the track including a MK III Viper, a hoard of Raider variants, a Colonial Bomber and some larger capital ships. Glad you all like what I have done. I got a little side tracked with these models, something that I will come back to for sure. I have incomplete nu-BSG designs as well as the desire to do some more classic models.

Right now I'm onto some new or should I say rather old in terms of the model. :p

Taking a break from modelling and texturing for the day, I was looking through some of my old photoshop work and decided to take a crack at some of the old logos I did. I did a version 2 for the Terran Alliance and 14th Colony.

14thTribe_Logo_v2.png Terran Alliance Logo V2.png

I also decided to try my hand at the TOS Battlestar Galactica logo and a TNS Cylon logo.

TOSBSGColonial_Logo.png Cylon_Logo_TNS.png

UPDATED:

With a couple more, one is an update of the Cylon logo the other is a remake of the Colonial one I did sometime back.

Very nice! I used a similar logo for the cylons in my own mod. (mimicing the BGO logo of course)

Thanks mate, glad you like it.

Colonial low poly Raptor, not as low poly as I'd like but it's better than the original. New texture to finish it off as well.

BSG-Raptor01.png BSG-Raptor02.png BSG-Raptor03.png

I know I did one a while back which I think I gave to Thunderfoot for his BSG project, this one is however a vast improvement, much lower and much cleaner. It's about 40% rebuilt.

Thanks Hellkite, glad you like her.

I did also try messing around with alternative colours and the white one looked terrible, the blue one is okay but I think I'll stick with the canon brown with this one.

Thinking of trying a grey one though.

EDIT:

That was quick.

I agree the raptors look sweet. The grey one is almost stealth. :D

Thank you both. The grey one I envision personally to be a special forces Raptor, but people could use it for whatever they want once released, and I will release it just got to get around to hardpointing all my recent BSG models and send them off the Jetfreak. I'll probably do it in one big batch at some point.

I plan a few variants too of the Raptor, well they are actually different classes rather than variants.

Scimitar Assault Bomber
BSG-Scimitar01.png BSG-Scimitar02.png BSG-Scimitar03.png

Produced by the same manufacturer as the Raptor, the Scimitar is based off the Raptor frame. For many years, when additional firepower was needed, the Colonial Military would use Raptors with external missile launchers. However this heavy Raptor could only hold so much ordinance and wasn't designed to perform in this role. The Scimitar was the answer to this. Much more suited for this role, the Scimitar didn't have the Dradis scanning and disruption abilities of the Raptor, plus to make room for an internal bomb bay and missile storage, the FTL and passenger abilities of the Raptor were also absent. By the time of the fall of the Colonies only a handful of squadrons had been deployed all being deployed in either ground military bases or the most advanced Battlestars like the Atlantia, Endeavour, Prometheus and Solaria.

EDIT:

A re-work of the original 12 Battlestars that I did sometime ago.

BSG-12-4Pacifica.png BSG-12-1Columbia.png BSG-12-11Themis.png BSG-12-8Cerberus.png BSG-12-5Solaria.png BSG-12-2Galactica.png
BSG-12-12Acropolis.png BSG-12-9Prometheus.png BSG-12-6Rycon.png BSG-12-3Atlantia.png BSG-12-10Triton.png BSG-12-7Athena.png

The following Colonies sponsored the construction of the following Battlestars in order as well:

  1. Virgon = Columbia
  2. Caprica = Galactica
  3. Picon = Atlantia
  4. Aquaria = Pacifica
  5. Scorpia = Solaria
  6. Aerelon = Rycon
  7. Gemenon = Athena
  8. Canceron = Cerberus
  9. Leonis = Prometheus
  10. Sagittaron = Triton
  11. Tauron = Acropolis
  12. Libran = Themis

Reason for the uniqueness was the Colonies did this to represent their colony and a bit of ego in for good measure. You'll notice that the Prometheus was the last unique Battlestar and the first Battlestar from the poorer colonies, after her they started to standardise the Battlestars and newly formed Colonial fleet and after the war all the early Battlestars were standardized in the same colours as the latter Battlestars. The Atlantia was the only one that remained the same, as she served as the Colonial flagship a tradition that would continue for the next 40 years.

Some last touches on the Columbia texture. Including a proper hangar bay floor, some dirt and a series version of the Galactica, all in the one neat and easy to use PSD file.

Hello:
Ohh, so did you realle made the Scimitar bomber from the Battlestar Prometheus fanfic? it looks really good as we cannot have enough Raptor-like ships (I love that design :excited: ).

And I am also quite interested to see your final versions for the Gunstars, specially the Titan class.

Keep it up!

Thank you all, glad to see there is still interest in my BSG work. I'll keep them coming and plan to get the Vipers, Raptors and the currently finished but unreleased work into your hands over the next few weeks. Certainly before Christmas if Jetfreak and I can manage it.

Well the Scimitar is my version using inspiration from some pixel drawings on the web. In the series the Scimitar is supposed to be a cheap retrofitted Raptor, I wanted something different, a little more original but still based on the Raptor so I did this version.

I plan to texture the Titan this week and the Defender (name change is probably in order) next week unless I get some free time this week after the Titan. They will match the Columbia (hence why I wanted to finish the Battlestar off before starting them) and I will have some hero versions along with the blank fleet version, same as the Battlestar. It seems lately I have a real interest in the original Cylon War, probably due to Blood and Chrome being cancelled as a series. So what is a fan to do? Make my own version in the way of 3D models.

Hello:
By watching the second trailer, I already got a nice view of a smaller military-looking ships, so I am so going to model the new ships too.

We surely got lots of fascinating and new work to do! :excited: .

If I get some detailed orthos I plan to also model the ships, saw a new Basestar based off the Hades one as well so should be cool. I'll post my screen captures here.

Colonial Support Ship, I'd say it's a Gunstar or some sort of older carrier that pre dates the Galactica and her sisters.

Hello:
Those are very good pics, and I am very sure we will able to get some nice references for models, maybe official (would be the best, I've got those for Galactica and Pegasus) but maybe the people from the Wolf Shipyard will be able to draw some nice orthos images too, like that have been doing with civilian ships.

And yay! Guardian Basestar-type ships :excited: .

Those are actually not Guardian Basestars, but a hybrid of the Guardian and Hades Basestars, if you compare both you'll notice they are different. The disk portions of this design are larger than on the Guardian Basestar and the 'star' sections both above and below are of equal length; the lower arms are shorter than the uppers on the Guardian.

The good thing is now we have a third Cylon war era Basestar model/design which is awesome and helps us fans with models for that era.

Hello:
My bad then, but we can truly use every new ship design, specially for the Cylons since they always have less number of ships... not like they really need more types anyways, hehehe :naughty: .

I saw the first two episodes, and even though I am not 100% happy with some re-imaginations, I did start seeing some new designs, so that makes up for everything.

It's been a while. Trying to slowly get back into modeling I decided to go back to good old BSG.

First thing I decided to do was model the Scarlet Viper, a Richard Hatch design from the Second Coming trailer and fan film he was trying to get off the ground in the 90's.

I decided to make it using my Viper 2 and 1 models and while I was at it I fixed some texture errors on the earlier models.

Viper1.png Viper2.png ViperS.png

I have a few other models in the works including a Battlestar. Will see how I go aye. :)
