Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.
Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.
We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Ark Royal Light carrier
a Light 'through-deck"carrier
Aircraft carried: 50–60
511.25m
According to Wikipedia, Invincible-class light carriers, such as the HMS Ark Royal, carried 22 aircraft. The American Independence-class and Saipan-class light carriers field 33 and 42 aircraft, respectively. It also says that the USS Enterprise supercarrier, the Kitty Hawk-class supercarriers, and the Nimitz-class supercarriers, usually carried between 60 and 90 aircraft. Fleet carriers have anywhere between 33 and 90 with the UK fielding the least and the US fielding the most.Yes! really I took the number from the real HMS Ark Royal

HMS Ark Royal (pennant number 91) was an light aircraft carrier of the Royal Navy that served during the Second World War.
HMS Ark Royal was the first ship on which the hangars and flight deck were an integral part of the hull, instead of an add-on or part of the superstructure. Designed to carry a large number of aircraft, she had two hangar deck levels. She served during a period that first saw the extensive use of naval air power; a number of carrier tactics were developed and refined aboard Ark Royal.

I thought there were only treaties limiting battleship and cruiser counts, hence the development of carriers.Hmmm. Around the start of WWII everyone lied about their carrier sizes and pulled every trick they could to downgrade the tonnage - twas against the rules to have too many carriers.
According to Wikipedia, Invincible-class light carriers, such as the HMS Ark Royal...
the Ark Royal was not a Invincible class it was it own Class that predated the Invincible-class
have a look you will see it noted as
Type:Unique aircraft carrier

Prince Charles has apparently agreed to have the HMS Prince of Wales renamed the HMS Ark Royal. There have been many Ark Royals, the last of which was one of the Invincible class "ski jump" carriers. It was retired post 2010 SDSR and many believe (myself included) that one of the two new carriers should be called Ark Royal to keep the tradition going. Instead we're getting Queen Elizabeth II and Prince of Wales.
