The size chart is quite nice to have. This reminds me, do you have any plans for a smaller carrier for when Starfleet doesn't need the obscene force projection of the Seraphim?

Well, I suppose the attending carrier group is what pushes it over the edge, for the average scale Star Trek battle, anyway. But yeah, that would be pretty cool.

Yes! really I took the number from the real HMS Ark Royal
____________________________________________________
HMS Ark Royal (pennant number 91) was an light aircraft carrier of the Royal Navy that served during the Second World War.

HMS Ark Royal
was the first ship on which the hangars and flight deck were an integral part of the hull, instead of an add-on or part of the superstructure. Designed to carry a large number of aircraft, she had two hangar deck levels. She served during a period that first saw the extensive use of naval air power; a number of carrier tactics were developed and refined aboard Ark Royal.

Aircraft carried:

72 (designed) 50–60 (actual)

Hmmm. Around the start of WWII everyone lied about their carrier sizes and pulled every trick they could to downgrade the tonnage - twas against the rules to have too many carriers.
I was thinking of more modern examples, where a Nimitz with a crew of 6000 also has an airwing of around 70 a/c. The new QEII class (should be Ark Royal) will have somewhere in the ballpark of 40 - 60 (assuming we can scrape that many airframes together). Lusty only had about a dozen Harriers if I recall - but then that was a "Through deck cruiser" :lol2:

According to Wikipedia, Invincible-class light carriers, such as the HMS Ark Royal, carried 22 aircraft. The American Independence-class and Saipan-class light carriers field 33 and 42 aircraft, respectively. It also says that the USS Enterprise supercarrier, the Kitty Hawk-class supercarriers, and the Nimitz-class supercarriers, usually carried between 60 and 90 aircraft. Fleet carriers have anywhere between 33 and 90 with the UK fielding the least and the US fielding the most.

On the whole, designations seem to depend on the relative number of aircraft supported, rather than the absolute number. If the Seraphim is a supercarrier, then it makes sense to me that the Ark Royal could be a light carrier in the same fleet. If the designations are relative, then the Klingons or Romulans may consider the Ark Royal to be a fleet carrier or up if their light carriers use fewer spacecraft.

Hmmm. Around the start of WWII everyone lied about their carrier sizes and pulled every trick they could to downgrade the tonnage - twas against the rules to have too many carriers.
I thought there were only treaties limiting battleship and cruiser counts, hence the development of carriers.

the Ark Royal was not a Invincible class it was it own Class that predated the Invincible-class
have a look you will see it noted as
Type:Unique aircraft carrier

Well, that's confusing. According to the disambiguation page, the UK has had three different purpose built carriers named the HMS Ark Royal and is working on a fourth, plus another that was a merchant ship and converted to a carrier and a galleon.

There have been many Ark Royals, the last of which was one of the Invincible class "ski jump" carriers. It was retired post 2010 SDSR and many believe (myself included) that one of the two new carriers should be called Ark Royal to keep the tradition going. Instead we're getting Queen Elizabeth II and Prince of Wales.

Prince Charles has apparently agreed to have the HMS Prince of Wales renamed the HMS Ark Royal.

I suppose this question also pertains to the Seraphim, but do the fighters and such use catapults or do they take off under their own power like shuttles?

Own power like shuttles

Cabal I just thought of a way to sum up these two

Think of the Seraphim as the Pride of Hiigara

with the
Role(s)

    • Flagship
    • Shipyard / construction space born platforms
    • Carrier
    • Mobile refinery
    • Colony ship
Seraphim was meant to be Starfleet's premier extragalactic starship by build a foothold outside our galaxy

Ark Royal Light carrier is like e Kushan\Hiigara Carrier from HW 1

Role(s)

    • Carrier
    • Minor fighter build and repair
    • Fleet support
    • Blockade Command ship
the Ark Royal is the mainline Carrie in day to day operations and the largest ship the can produce internally

LOL all I need now is a WW mod for Homeworld 2

Erinyes - Furies, were female chthonic deities of vengeance ; they were sometimes referred to as "infernal goddesses"

Yep ! That she is she is around the size of 35 meters in Length so she more of a stand a lone ship than just a large Runabout unlike it's predecessor

Hmmm, intriguing design. Seems like a good candidate for a police frigate? I like the idea of a few of these escorting a Soyuz-class cutter or the late-24th/early-25th century equivalent.

Maybe but I see it as having many sub configurations that are civilian /non starfleet

Think of it as the Serenity from Firefly or the Millennium Falcon kind of a jack of all trades ship
