One more station done, only 2-3 to go....

This is the advanced shipyard, in the images the Excelsior is added for reference and scale. This model turned out to be higher than I wanted, but I think it will still be ok. I used parts from Syf's shipyards to make this one and this one will be kitbashed into the small yard later.

Very nice! One of the finest shipyards I have seen. Can't wait to see this stuff textured.

Lots of progress here Maj, loving it.

I don't know if anyone's asked this - will you be using an installer for the mod or is it something people will need to change manually?

The first release will be a cut and paste, later ones will probably have an installer.

Thanks glad to see many like this design, I now have done the other shupyard. A few touch ups need to be done and I'll probably be changing the design slightly, however here is the low end shipyard.

Hello:
It is nice to see the shipyards been done, at least mesh-wise. I like the smaller one with a Constitution class in it, very close to the canon design.

Will you be using Transparent textures to aid you on the shipyards? I know you will love some extra details, but transparent textures can still lend you a hand if polies are increasing too much I think.

Keep it up!

I look at it this way, in a standard game, one really only builds about six shipyards, you end up usually building more mining stations. Generally you have at least 2 sometimes 3 yards at your home base and at least one at each expansion and people generally only have 2 expansions.

So I think I get get away with the higher poly count.

As for transparent textures I looked into it, but decided against it.

EDIT: Shipyard updated. Not 100% canon to the yard seen in Star Trek 1, but I didn't want it to be as obviously they would have different styles/variations of yards throughout the Federation.

I re-iterate my statement Maj, the yard looks great at all counts. And a perfect match for the Connie. As far as I can see, you can use the transparent textures for the finer details like the really small grilles.

I've also heard that the ST1 Drydock is very hard to model, lots of resources out there but conflicting details are all over the place. :lol2:

Thank you all, glad you like them. I decided not to go too canon with the basic shipyard as I prefer my own feel on things, that and I'm a bit too lazy to spends hours to get the design to look like the one in the movie.

As discussed in the Yesteryears Community Input thread repair yards could see themselves being a realitiy in the mod, whether it will be a unique Federation feature or not I haven't decided upon. However I have done a Federation repair yard, this model is bacially all Syf''s work, I just modified a few parts. I am only going to put a cap of 3 on these things mainly due to the poly count on this model.

Note: Gorn battleship added for reference and scale as she is much bigger than a Excelsior class.

Hello:
The model looks very good to me, and detailed. I like the bigger size so there should be no problems to fit any ship during a game.

I like that :D.

Wowzers, the new Gorn ship and that new yard has a shining touch of originality. Great work!

Thank you, however the Gorn ship was made a few years back and itsn't new, it's just used for scale.

Syf and I when we decided to add the Gorn didn't like the designs that were available, especially the horrid SFC/KA designs. So using a dropped concept image from DS9 Syf designed an entire fleet of Gorn. He did rather well I reckon as is makes the Gorn actually fun to play as. :)

Well the Gorn are either going to be the 2nd or 3rd faction I will be working on. It really all depends when Syf can get back into the sattle as the Gorn are his baby and I want him to do some work on helping to develop them more.

I see the Kzinti as my baby. :lol2:

I actually like the Gorn SFC designs - with a wee bit of Majesticizing (I think you called it that?!?) Im sure the designs could be brought right up to scratch, no worries.

I am looking forward to seeing what you have now though, Gorn - wise.

I like. It has a nice gorn look to it. Hoping they're among the first races out.

Well they will be either the 2nd or 3rd faction. It all depends on Syf's schedule as to which way this goes. Either way there will be development on the mod as I will be doing the Klingons while Syf does the Gorn.

Yes Majesticized is correct. I personally feel they are too blocky, and as you can tell I prefer Syf's designs. You probably won't have to wait long to see the the Gorn and their war machine which will start to roll out soon.

They're certainly good designs, much better than has gone before.

And now the fishing for info begins, do you have more to show us lol? Or better yet a tentative release date for part 1 so we can all get our TMP fix lol?

No release date as of yet, I still have many things to do and after recent conflicts I have been a little put off with mods and talking a break. Plus Syf is still away with his own problems.

However the good news is I am planning a pre-release pack, which will include all the original models from the first version of YY. So you'll still get your TMP fix.

Fair enough, good things come to those who wait :). Always sucks when conflicts occur, but I'm sure you'll find interest in it again soon. Hopefully Syf will be able to resolve things too. Been a while since I've seen him around.

A pre release pack sounds good, will it be stock a2?

Syf's still around, just hiding in the staff rooms. :lol2:

The pack will be for stock A2, but the models will be able to be used in FO if one wishes as the set-up for FO is the game just the glows are added. But yes Stock A2, however the pods on the research stations don't work, I would never get them to work.

Yeah Interest have been at a real low point, so I have been playing games other than A2/FO and just doing some non-related models, models that while are around the 2k mark haven't been made for game use but easily could be used due to their poly count.

It's been a while, but I am still committed to this project and the last two days I have been devoting sometime to this. The model I did yesterday unfortunately turned out to be almost 8k and I couldn't justify using it with that poly count so here is my latest attempt at a freighter. It's based loosely off the Fleet Operations one, and I see this as like a predecessor to it.

I still need to add impulse engine to it but other than that it's pretty much completed.
