My dad wants to build a new PC for music recording so he asked my to browse components for him. Apparently, 8th gen i3 CPUs make my 1st gen i5 look like a paper weight. In related news, I really want to upgrade now.

I really did wonder if they were going to morn the death of a Senator or make it like the award shows and do nothing but political jabs. They made his death about politics. To me, that shows me what his family wants his legacy to be about and why I have lost all respect for them. In the end, they made him just another career politician that would use any platform to take a stab at an opponent. He couldn't even fight for unity in his death.

I disagree on one thing. The services should have been about celebrating the life of McCain. Not trying to cause more political diversity. I am not for either party and career politicians is one of our biggest issues. They will use anything to spread pure hatred and try to blame it on whomever they spread the hate about. One day they might do what is best for America and not their political party.

The first game is just called Rebel Galaxy. It's a sandbox game in a procedurally generated star cluster. There's some plot, too, but you generally are doing the sandbox stuff. The combat is similar to Black Flag's naval combat, including being largely 2D, but you have much more control over ship upgrades. You can upgrade from your starting corvette all the way up to a dreadnought, for instance, along with changing out your broadside type and all your individual turrets.

This new one, Rebel Galaxy Outlaw, is a prequel. They went for full 3D starfighter gameplay this time, and swapped out the procedurally generated world with a handmade one. It sounds like there's going to be a tighter plot along with more sandbox stuff. Outlaw will also have modding tools. The first game supported them in theory, but never really got a tool set so there wasn't a lot you could do. I really want to fly a Starfury.

Outlaw isn't out yet, but Rebel Galaxy is usually pretty cheap. My copy was actually free off of GOG. It's on Steam, Humble, GOG, the XB1 online market, and the PS4 online market.

I got Rebel Galaxy on PS4 when it was a free game for PS + members, it was a nifty little sim. Outlaw looks better, love that in cockpit views, wish the original had that. Sigh.

There is a such a shortage of good space sims it's whackadoodle. Now they're all online, yuck. God I miss Wing Commander.

I alluded to a project I was working on in Back to Basics and here it is! I have created a bitmap font recreation of the in-game font that Fleet Ops uses for tooltips! This font is intended to make it easier to edit and format tooltips in Fleet Ops by allowing you to select the in-game font in your text editor. As a result, things like spacing are identical to the way they're displayed in-game and instead of various symbols, like %, you get the dilithium icon, the Avatar text, and so on. For readability, the red numbers have a dot above them and the words and phrases done with a single character have an underscore and overscore.

The downside, however, is that the characters used for the red 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are special formatting characters and I can't get them to show up in any text editor. If someone can figure that out I would be very grateful. I suppose in the mean time you can use normal numbers to format and then copy and paste the relevant characters from the Guide page.

But yeah, give it a try, and if you can get those numbers to show up please tell me how you did it.

I am not sure if this deserves a separate topic or not, but long story made short: Something very bad happened here and made my life turn in 180°... so, unless a miracle happens somehow, I lost everything about my digital works: 3d models and drawings. Please don't ask for details since it is a matter of family issues.

Thank you , but I was unable to make any releases before all stuff happened... but I am trying to recover some of my models I gave around to start some rebuilding.

That's gotta hit hard Chile, hope you can salvage the situation.

EA has contracted Petroglyph Games to make a remaster of Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn and Command & Conquer: Red Alert 1, complete with expansions. Petroglyph was created by the Westwood founders after EA dismantled Westwood. So long as EA can restrain themselves and let Petroglyph do their thing, this will be awesome!

I would, too, but that's a rights nightmare. You would need to get Paramount, CBS, Activision, and Rockstar (who bought Mad Doc) to all cooperate at a minimum, which is why it's still not on GOG or similar sites.
