• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

Little help here folks, I'm editing my build of STA2 Classic and the Romulan Warbird SP weapon is missing its flare sprite. Any ideas what's the missing .tga file?

I hope you enjoyed it. The first episode is slightly more... slapstick (not a fair assessment but I can't think of a better word) than the rest of the series, probably to get it past the network executives.

Hi Jet. This is something I found while making the Upgrade Project mod and Blade helped me find it. You have to put the following two lines in your craft.odf and station.odf:

ShieldAdd = "Wshldadd"
ShieldSub = "Wshldsub"

Also, I don't recall, but I think the SOD and .tga files are already in the Classic mod, but make sure the wshldadd.sod and wshldsub.sod and their corresponding .tga files of the same name are in their respective folders. The bad part is IIRC that the shield bubbles around the warbird and any ship/station that it fires its special at are huge. No fix for that due FO I'm afraid. Hope that helps

Thanks Rifraf, that solved the problem. You're right about the bigly shields though, a minor but annoying visual boo boo.

Regardless, I tried bypassing the textures by making them as subdued as possible. Same for the Sovereign Corbomite. TGA's attached if you want to scope em out.

I remember, FO scales the model differently to make the sprite effects work right. You can take a stock A2 shield model and put an invisible polygon shell around it that goes twice as far from 0,0,0 in every direction to make it scale properly. So if the furthest part of the shield mesh on the X axis reaches to 5,0,0 you'll want the shell to reach to 10,0,0. And only the furthest point on each axis is relevant so you can get away with a lot fewer polygons than the shield model itself.

I hope that made sense.

So, every time I watch BBC America I see a bunch of commercials for a show called Killing Eve, but the commercials tell me absolutely nothing about what the premise of the show is other than that it's dark. Even the promos where they show clips of interviews with the cast and crew just talk about things like how it has a strong female cast. Can anyone tell me A) what the show is about, and B) is it any good?

Yes it is! It's about an intelligence agent (woman from Greys Anatomy) hunting a woman assassin. The assassin is a bit of a psychopath but that makes it amusing (to one with the twisted sense of humour I do). I've only seen the first three but I have the set on my recorder ready for when I have time to sit down and watch it.

While looking at Starship diagrams in Cygnus-x1 I found a ship that is Kobayashi Maru-ish in design... and that is has a Captain's Skiff! ... so not only I've got to learn a new word, but that is an amazing idea I'll add to my custom Trek-verse :plan:

I think I had something like that a couple of years ago, the anti-virus suddenly decided that a certain file type was suspicious and deleted a particular file in each copy of A2. If you have a backup somewhere then compare the files in the main directory - or of someone else could be kind enough to check against Jetfreaks screenshot...

Jetfreak, I've attached a screenshot of the files in an old stock (I think) A2 directory on my modelling machine. I can't do a proper check as some of the files in your image are obscured by the error message.

Please send help! I've been on hold for four hours. The music is driving me insane.

Edit: Finally, after five hours, I have gotten through. Only took a couple minutes once I got to the guy, too. Now I just need to figure out how to get the hold music out of my head.

All right, the launch problem was an annoying little bugger with my Kaspersky Anti-virus, which I believe flagged FleetOps as a hostile program. It damn near deleted the .exe.

Even if I put the program in the exception list, the problem still persists. Seems like this occurred after the Kaspersky this huge update. The only way I can run FO/A2 is disabling the anti-virus.

Will try to survey this problem further.
