I will be starting a Dominion character when Victory is Life launches. It will be KDF aligned. Anyone want to join me for the missions is welcome to do so.

Mine probably will be too. They seem a little more in-line with Jem'Hadar aggression, but that also depends on how much of an impact Odo has made on the Dominion by STO's time.

That sounds pretty good with some rep and crafting etc complete. It's a lot of grind and for casual players like me has pushed me away from the game entirely. I might give it a shot a month or two after it launches after the lag, bugs and crowds have died down. I remember how bad it was when the Romulan faction launched.

Victory is Life has launched.
So, you get the option of creating a new character for the new Dominion faction. Unfortunately, the only thing you can make is a male Jem'Hadar. I was hoping for Vorta, but nope. There are a lot of options for the facial structure of the Jem'Hadar, sadly not much in the way of uniform options (though if you have the mercenary outfit unlocked you can use a few elements of that). Otherwise it's pretty much selecting the colours on the default Jem'Hadar outfit.
When you choose your specialty, you get your skill tree filled out, a 2 reputations to level 5, 2x R&D to level 15, and 1.5 specialisations.
You get 7x BOffs at a mixture of levels and some with specialist training. You and the BOffs are fully kitted out with mk12 purple gear, as is your ship (a T5U Jem'Hadar Escort "bug ship" and a Fighter). You also have the Mk12 Jem'Hadar ship set and you and the BOffs all have the full Jem'Hadar ground set.
You have no DOffs or Admiralty ships (except the Bug ship and fighter) although you can use those systems. You have no credits, dilithium or anything else in your inventory.
After the introductory mission you are given a Gamma Recruit "Transponder" just like the Delta or Temporal recruits. You can also get a pack of DOffs. After the mission you have to choose whether to ally yourself with the Klinks or the Feds, and then you can use their ships.
I had hoped I could contact the Temporal agent and claim the Delta and Temporal rewards to give my Jem'Hadar a leg up, but you can't access those until reaching level 65.
The Jem'Hadar have a neat trick in that they use Ketracel White. Once used you have a 3hr (game time) timer where your character is able to shroud.

In other news, DS9 looks cool, however the interior is a little cramped and could have done with being slightly bigger. Especially as all the stalls are now in small rooms with closing doors.

The only bug I've seen so far is that the audio seemed to glitch during the opening scene of the introductory mission.

The link below includes screenshots of the different Jem'Hadar skill trees so you can make an informed choice about which you want to do.

Pretty disappointing but something you come to expect from the creators.

I haven't been on STO in like over a year. I'll probably give it another 6 months let them iron the bugs out then log in and play all the new missions including the Jem'Hadar stuff. Maybe by then we might get a Vorta race.

While I can understand the disappointment of not having a playable Vorta, I can also understand their logic behind it. The Jem'Hadar was the military of the Dominion. The Vorta were the administrators. It would he like asking a group of desk jockeys to invade a country....lol.

The missions were written specifically for the Jem'Hadar. To add a playable Vorta, some rework would need done. I personally wouldn't want that until they iron out what has already been released. The Devs did say in a podcast that adding the Vorta could be a possibility in the future.

That said, this expansion as gotten the best reviews of any since LoR.

I may have come across sounding overly harsh. Because of STOs emphasis on combat I've always thought that the TNG+ era Feds and Klingons were a little shoehorned into the game. This is why I enjoyed the TOS character, it felt more natural and it was easier to explain the hostilities between the two sides. STO should have been a TOS or TMP era game.
Similarly, the Jem'Hadar also "feel" well suited to STO. You expect them to try and solve all problems with a phaser.
What I don't like is how the Hurq have "creepy crawly" aliens i.e. spamming low grade cannon fodder for you to shoot at. I hated it in Halo, I hate it here.
I do suggest creating the character and doing the intro mission relatively soon, I believe the Gamma Recruitment event is only open for 6 weeks or so.

Gamma Recruitment?

I agree a TOS/TMP era would've been better.

Yeah, they are doing an event like they did with Delta Recruits at the beginning of Delta Rising and the Temporal Recruit at the beginning of Agents of Yesterday.

I think if they could have used the Typhon Pact books would have been great.

Ah. Well when I do a Jemhadar it will just be to play the unique missions and that's it, same with a TOS character. So I am not worried about any bonuses with a new recruitment event.

Agreed. You could assume though that they're some form of Drantzuli or something

I keep saying that STO is more suited to the more militeristic TOS or TMP eras. It's a shoot em up game, 90% of gameplay is shooting stuff, it just doesn't fit the narrative of peacefully exploring and making alliances - that's why they keep inventing wars.

New ship pack details released, just Fed and Klinker this time, no Romulans o_O
Which is a shame because I quite like the looks of the specs. They are destroyers, Tac and Sci heavy in both BOff and Console slots. They have a LtCdr Universal/Intel seat.
The Fed ship is a modern take on a New Orleans (a bit surprising), and actually looks quite good. The Klingon destroyer also doesn't look too bad, sort of like a smaller sleeker Vor'Cha.

T6 Ambassador and T6 Vor'Cha are finally here!!!
https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/10998903

Full temporal ability ships.
They both have a LtCdr universal and the Temporal seat is the Cdr Eng but the two ships have different seating - the VorCha has no dedicated Sci seating but with a Lt and Lt Cdr Tac you can go full bore Tac if you really want... which could be fun to try.

3 Tac, 4 Eng, 3 Sci (+1 Sci for Fleet) consoles, so it's an all rounder (a bit like the T3 and T5 Ambassador). Both ships are 4/4 layout but have different maneuvering characteristics.

The Fed model is the Probart Ambassador. The VorCha actually looks quite nice I think. They are both supposed to be able to use parts from the T5 ships - although I'm not sure that would be a good idea with the Ambassador.

Only a two faction pack, there's a 20% off this weekend so it'll be 3200 zen for the both (damnit I'm at my sisters wedding :mad::mad: )

The wedding went well (thank the Gods - well actually thank the Maid of Honour who was an organisational genius... or tyrant, depending who you asked) and I managed to catch the start of the sale before I left so I am actually the proud owner of a new Fed and Klinker ship. Just haven't seen them yet.

And here's a ZeFilms video because it always shows the STO ships in a good light (even the godawful ones somehow).

Ok, maybe a better light.
Set up my new T6 Ambassador on my Fed Delta Tac today. Its more agile than I could have hoped (I was thinking I may have to replace the DBBs with arrays but so far it seems fine - of course I am using turn mods on some consoles as its a phaser build). The Ambassador gets access to the TV version skin and the Probart version. The skins seem to fit together quite well. I've gone with a Probart build except for the secondary hull because I prefer round deflectors.
The T6 Vor'Cha also turns well and is currently running a disruptor DBB build on my Klink Eng. I'm tempted to go for a disruptor cannon build.
The T6 has three hull options, the original Vor'Cha, the T6 variant and another C Store variant which I'm unfamiliar with. Sadly the T6 neck doesnt fit well with the Vor'Cha nose. The "flying bridge" is also part of the neck, which is a shame as I would have liked a T6 fin on the Vor'Cha neck. Not to be though.
Pictures of the Ambassador attached, not yet found anywhere with good enough lighting for the Vor'Cha.

You know, I'm not usually a fan of the STO Starfleet designs, but this one is pretty nice.

I like that Vorcha.
Their Klingon and Romulan designs are usually decent, in my opinion. It's really just the Federation ones that have issues.

I agree. For some reason they struggle to come up with decent Fed designs on a regular basis.
