If the Midways going to be there I will there in a KD-56 Gryphon class Air/Space superiority fighter

Whuh? I've never heard of that fighter. I'm assuming it's part of the Midway fan-fic, so is there a model available for it?

Crew: 1

Speed
Cruising Velocity: Warp 4
Maximum Velocity: Warp 6
Emergency Velocity: Warp 8 (for 1.2 hours)

1 Type-VIII Phaser Array.
3 Point Defense Phaser Arrays.
Torpedo Arrangement:
2 Mini-Torpedo Launchers.
50 Micro-Quantum Torpedoes

Defensive Systems: Ablative Armour and Light Shielding System

Fast an agile, The Gryphon class is the combination of both years and knownedge, for a long time it was clear to Starfleet that a new fighter would be needed to take up patrols of both stations and starships but there were few ideas in the pool that could come close the the Gryphon.

Not only is it well designed and armored, not to mention its substantial weapon payload, but it has been designed to meet warp specifications for small craft and is capable of speeds up to warp eight, a speed unthinkable for a ship its size and while its maximum warp cannot be held for long periods due to power limitations it greatly increases the fighters range and its ability to protect whatever it is assigned to.

Note: Can be equipped with two Micro-Plasma Torpedeos for special missions. Plasma Torpedo are a Torpedo which was developed by the Romulan Science Academy and Starfleet Engineering which combines Romulan Plasma Torpedo technology with Starfleet Photon Torpedeo technology.

Not at the moment but I will down the track be building one, first off I want to build the following:

  • Merrimack Class Scout/Destroyer
  • Legacy Class Explorer
  • Midway Class Carrier/Battleship
  • Archangel Class Cruiser
  • Galaxy III Class Explorer
  • Construction Ship
  • Athos Class Destroyer

Yeah I'm in a modelling frenzy at the moment. I have quite a few designs on the drawing board.

As I see that the Midway is going to be there, I almost regret that I didn't pick my RPG ship; USS Courage, that I created instead of the one that will be in this now.
Anyway, we can use the USS Borg Queen. :)

 I had eyes only for that. Any chance for sneak peak concept?

Well it's my version, so will most likely not be the one you're thinking of as there are so many Galaxy III designs out there most look horrid too. The concept sadly is only in my head as I find doing 2d drawing harder than a 3D model. :lol2:

Yeah I noticed that a few days ago, I have checked my hard-drive for any old backups of such info but I don't have any. I guess it's a thing of the past now. But they were good times, I still remember them well. :)

How about NCC-81793 from Maj's Dawnstar thread for my ship? I think a beauty shot would be nice.

You mentioned crew names and backgrounds, so here's a couple. Tell me if you want more for this.

Captain: John Anderson
Division: Operations
Born on Luna in Lunar Colony 7, also called New Babylon for it's massive tower-style shuttle port, in 2342. He enlisted in Starfleet Academy in 2363 where he displayed an aptitude for strategics. After graduating in 2367 he was assigned to the Nebula Class USS Monitor. In 2371 he was promoted to Commander and transfered to the Galaxy Class USS Eternity where he served with Johanna Schneider. With the outbreak of the Dominion War, the Eternity's captain was killed during the vessel's first engagement with the Jem'Hadar and Anderson was given a field promotion to Captain. He distinguished himself as a captain during the First Battle of Chin'toka. After the war, he was given an official promotion and continued to command the Eternity. He was recently offered command of one of the new Dawnstar class vessels and chose Schneider as his first officer.

First Officer: Johanna Schneider
Division: Command
Born on Tendara Colony in 2344. Entered Starfleet Academy in 2362 and was noted for her charismatic effect on the other cadets. First assignment was the Ambassador Class USS Zhukov in 2366. Temporarily retired due to personal reasons 2368. Returned to Starfleet in 2370 and was assigned to the USS Eternity where she served with Anderson. Transfered to the Enterprise-E after the Dominion War and was present for the Battle of the Bassen Rift. Hand picked by Anderson for the position of First Officer of the USS Antaeus in 2379.

I had actually planed out these characters ahead of time for my own mod, if anybody is wondering.

Didn't notice the bit about backstory

If possible, some sort of shot with the Inceptor leaving space dock with the general hustle and bustle would be quite nice. If not, perhaps a battle pic of her engaging a couple of Klingon BOP's?

Anyways, in two spoilers -

One of the original production run Excelsior's from 2287, the service history of the USS Inceptor is one that has been plagued by ill-fortune. On her original shakedown cruise overloaded plasma conduits forced a two month spell in spacedock; during which time over a hundred faults were detected and repaired. Her current captain - as of 2295 - Paul Hollins was part of the original crew of the Inceptor, and assumed command on personal request from Captain Scott; head of the Excelsior project. The ship and crew were honoured for their role in preventing a rogue Klingon plot in 2294 along with the USS Yorktown.

  • Captain - Paul Hollins. Born in 2264 on Earth, Captain Hollins attended Starfleet Academy as part of the scholarship program; studying as a cadet in the engineering section of the Lexington until such a time as the Chief Engineer found him worthy of sitting final exams. Hollins graduated within two years - and gradually rose through the ranks, serving as a Lieutenant under Captain Scott during the Khitomer incident before being recommended as Executive Officer for the Inceptor. He would stay on this ship until its eventual refit to the Type-B Excelsior; after which he accepted a promotion and served as Fleet Liaison for seven years.
  • Executive Officer - Adam May. Born in 2267 on Mars May's position on the Inceptor caused some concern for Starfleet. Rather than attend Starfleet academy and ascend through the ranks as was the normal way May served as a short haul freighter pilot for numerous years, where he gained a reputation for speed and skill. An encounter with the Klingon's, where he was able to prevent the death of several hundred colonists, resulted in a civilian commendation in the early 2280's; although a later smuggling allegation left him with one ultimatum - join Starfleet at the rank of Lieutenant Commander or serve seventeen years in prison. His decision eventually placed him as XO on the Inceptor, where he quickly bonded with Captain Hollins - the two becoming firm friends

Like CABAL there's only a couple here, quickly made up. If you need any more just give me a shout and I'll have a root around in the ol' brain

okay guys, requests and info added.

Might be a tad harder to get in your shot Amateur, since you're obviously going for TMP/TLE area of time, and I was preferring more TNG-era shots. Hopefully, I'll be able to do that leaving spacedock shot

Okay, here's my backstory.

USS Terra NCC-76898 - Dawnstar Class.

Flagship of the 1st Special Combat Unit

Commissioned in 2383, the USS Terra was originally intended to serve along the Klingon and Romulan borders, which weren't exactly a safe place then. However, two years later the USS Terra was part of "Operation Spectre", a squadron sent on a mission through an abandoned Borg transwarp gate. This gate had been discovered and partially repaired a while ago. The exact details of the mission are classified, but only half of the ships returned, led by the USS Terra. It is rumoured that the squadron stole several Borg data cores and recovered information about the status of the Collective. Shortly after her return, the USS Terra became the flagship of the newly founded 1st SCU, a unit tasked with the development and employment of new tactics and weapons.

The USS Terra's Captain is Eric Carter, a young StarFleet officer who proved his tactical skills during "Operation Spectre". He is a specialist for informatics and cybernetics, whose knowledge was very useful deep in Borg space. Carter is sometimes referred to as "the scientist they called Commander" by his crew.

Heads up, the second batch of completed registries is underway.

The only ship left would be Syf's USS Legacy which still lacks a proper registry. Still waiting for confirmation.

I'm sorry, I really couldn't resist doing that

Anyway, Jetfreak sent me the second pack of textures today, so I decided to take some test screens to see if they look alright to everyone. Gotta say, really outdid yourself with the Borg Queen, JF. Everyone else's look great too

I was thinking of the same thing. I feel that it wouldn't really be right to keep these among a select few, so when I do the actual pics, I might release the textures alongside them. Oy vey, more hex-editing......

On a side note, I'd like to say thank you all for liking my work in the first place. I've come much farther much quicker here than I thought I would have.

As it is, Jetfreak is still the ranking screenie master in my eyes, so do forgive me if the shots I take don't include the spectacular post-effects that make them awesome. Believe me when I say that I'm going to use all my skill to make these shots the best they can be.

Another side note, and this time I'm talking to Jetfreak directly. I read on one of your comments in your DA page that you use a sort of trick to keep the ships in place for your shots. I think it had something to do with the physics. Would you mind telling me what it is exactly you do? I'm sure it would help significantly

I believe he meant that you could, via map editor, disable the ships physics, and it don't move. then you just put it in the right position, it fires or what not, and you can take pictures with it at any angle without it moving.

Its really easy in FO, I'm not sure about the midnight universe editor.

I say go for it, with the 77443 registry as the info on the original I think has now been lost in time. The 77443 registry is the registry of the Legacy's predecessor in the Midway Fan Fiction which is connected to the story Syf eventually plans to write, using the ships successor as his ship, which is also the ship that appears in Midway.

Ah, always a pleasure to see the fruits of labor with the finished pics. The Community fleet is shaping up quite nicely.

Despite this, the effort is still showing though man. You worked with what you had and certainly delivered. A project like this is ambitious in itself so you deserve props for that.

We all have to start somewhere right? Something as simple as taking screenshots from a game takes lots of practice. But I can assure you that the improvements with composition, lighting and placement will be gradual. It's practically a learning experience. The game engine is practically a blank canvas for basic rendering. Experiment with new techniques and play around with the game's elements and always remember that this is also for fun. If you get bogged down, best to stop for the moment. My art teacher once told me that: "The best compositions are often made when a person has a positive vibe." A touch of inspiration and motivation goes a long way.

In my case, it took me a lot of trial and error to get my skill to where it is today. I actually started off with Storm3d to compose pics as several of you will remember. My oldest compositions where practically shoehorned and the sheer amount made was annoying at first. In any case, my first PoTD streak on A2files were all made in Storm3d. My knowledge of how the game worked then was pretty rudimentary :lol2: and something as simple as adding a new unit to the game was already a challenge in itself.

Eventually, I proceeded with in-game shots once I was able to custom tailor my install in a decent fashion. elevatormusic and Dan1025 inspired me to do so actually. They've been customizing their builds and using high poly models long before I was. In-game, I experimented with the directional light and adjusted the game's resolution for generally higher quality shots. Actually, the ones you've been posting recently largely mirror how I started out. So you're practically on the right track. Keep up the great work and always remember that you have your artistic freedom to break free of the norms of the game's limits.

And in regards to your question ISS, it's actually a pretty nifty trick I got from EM and IKS back in the day. The process simply involves removing all the physics files from their folder and placing them in a backup preferrably. (That's right! Cut and Paste :p) This in turn will nullify each unit's game physics allowing you to manipulate their positions freely.

Simple enough eh? Try and see it for yourself.

Sure thing mate, will add that one ASAP.

These look excellent! Your pic skills have matured tremendously and these are some very high quality shots. The Community Fleet is diverse and magnificent! As is the Community membership. These are going to look so very good in the Community Photo Gallery, which I am quite sure some highly motivated and very disciplined individual(quite unlike my lazy, shiftless self, lol) will take great joy in placing onto the website for all members and visitors to stare at in open mouthed wonder and delight.

That gives me an idea, if the community wants to classify this as a project and if they want I can create a project gallery in the Project Image Gallery: MSFC

Then the images can be uploaded there for all to enjoy and comment on. The Project Gallery is one of the few features that aren't utilised much by Project Teams. The Community will also have to nominate a up-loader, as other than Staff, only one a particular person (Project Leader) can upload there. I would suggest ISS_Enterprise_D or Jetfreak as these two members are the most involved in the endeavour here.

Heh, thanks a bunch for the support guys, really appreciate it :)

Tried out the little trick JF, and it worked out great! Now no more senseless time wasting of re-positioning ships!! :lol2:

For another slight update, I'm going to be further enhancing my install by converting some more FleetOps stuff into it, like asteroid fields, nebulae, maybe a planet here or there....

I think I've even gotten a nice concept for a pic with the Borg Queen. In it, the Borg originated from Earth, but evolved slightly differently from the Borg we know. For one, they stayed inside of the solar system for decades, not venturing out until what would be around TLE/TNG-era. Needs a bit more backstory I think, but I like where its ending up. What d'you guys think?

Oh I'd gladly take the honor of doing that, that is unless JF would like it.

god, why does that one sentence sounds so snooty to me?! I feel guilty for typing it for some reason....
