What's my "handle"? roflmao! On CB Ch19, I go by, "Second Chance". My tactical callsign in 11th ACR was, "White Four". Here, I am Thunderfoot. In STO, it was taken, so I am going with Thunderfoot1007. Probably will change that to, Thunderfoot_1310. Because that is my member number here at MSFC. Which one do you want to use? lol. I will answer to all of them.

Miranda class cruiser, USS Biloxi NCC-917824. And there will be a "Bloody A, B, C, or D." lmao!

Hey guys... uhm.... I need to ask a question.... does anyone have any idea how many times you need to rank up to get a free officer slot?

Why do you need another one? As long as all the roles in your ship are filled why bother? I had two free ones until I got my Prometheus and had a spare station on my ship. It's the only reason I activated my human male science officer.

I wonder what the admiral escort is. the Prometheus or a Defiant Upgrade.

I went to rear Admiral yesterday and got a Prometheus, however there is also the Hermes as an alternative. The Prometheus has more science, while the Hermes has more engineering.

You will get another slot on the side panel so you can have 5 officers at Captain on the side panel but you wont be able to use 5 on your ship until Rear Admiral lower half, the only way to use all 5 before Rear Admiral is to keep switching between them on your ship. But you will also get a 6th slow on the side panel at Rear Admiral as well but again at this time you can use 5 on the ship..

Oh, and for those interested, I believe my handle is Daniel Negron@ISS_Enterprise-D

Just made LT CMDR! Took a Connie aas my new ship and tried to make her match TMP ENT as closely as possible ingame. One of my few complaints so far is how..."shiny" the ships are. I think sometimes the dev team got a little carried away with the specularity. Anyone know a way to tone it down some. Like about half? If these Star Fleet vessels were any more glittery, somebody would be hoarding them in the back of their lair, lol

lol.....yeah, they did go a little overboard. The only suggestion I have is to play around with your graphics settings. I do believe there is a slider for "reflection" that you can adjust.

How did you get Lt. Cmd. so fast?! You caught up to me already.:p I had a miranda and a saber, but I mistakenly dismissed the miranda, so my new connie is - A to commemorate my sutpidity. Here are pics of my ship.(I went a little overboard...)

Look guys, I'd love to give this one a try. There are two main problems: a) I have no idea when I'm going to have the time and, more importantly b) I have no idea if my old '04 rust bucket can run this thing, with its 'splosions and stuff. I'd appreciate it if someone with a low-power computer could tell me how well it runs.

Well, is it an '04 laptop or desktop? Desktop I would say maybe on low settings, but laptop I would say no. I couldn't run it on my '10 laptop. :lol2:

I have been playing this game for almost 2 years now and I can say that it is the first, and best MMO I have played.
Of course there are always people that think there are better MMO's out there, and they may be right, but this is STAR TREK :)
So atm I have 5 characters all at Vice Admiral / Lieutenant General.
Two Tacticals, one on a Defiant the other one on a Prometheus with MVAM, a Engineer with the Odyssey, a Klingon Engineer with a Vo'quv Carrier, and last but not least a Science on an Intrepid/Bellerophon mix.

Desktop, run by a 2.9Ghz Pentium CPU and a geforce 8000er series graphics card (hey, this one used to be pretty powerful... when I bought it ).

A sure fire way to tell is google "Can You RUN it," select up STO, click the button, allow java to do its thing, and then if the page asks to kill or wait, let it wait. It will take a few seconds, but it should tell you if your computer meets the min requirements. I use it all the time, but be mindful of the video ad they added recently(it has volume...)

End results should give you something like this(my laptop scores :D). screencap.png

Unfortunately, your processor might by the choke point as it says it needs a duel core processor. Either way, even if you don't pass you might want to try it.

Meh, don't think it'll work out. Too rusty. Then again, I might just look for a new PC this year. :/

If you would excuse me now, I have dwarves to care for. :lol2:

My low end '09 Laptop runs it, barely... Its main issue is it only has 1gb of ram and it takes forever to load when you go into a new area so for a desktop it probably will work better than my laptop does which also is not a dual core like it suggests to use. Just put your graphics settings to low.

Whoa there. Easy! Had the same problems because silly me was online when the Shard server went down for maintenance. Went to the checklist in the FAQ guide and did what they said. Specifically, I made sure I run STO using administrator privileges. I also cleared my browser cache prior to starting the game. I let it finish all the patching the launcher does completely prior to me clicking anywhere near the Engage button as well. When it started after this, I closed it immediately and then restarted it again. To make sure I had all the patches completed prior to me trying to play. I am well aware I am restating the obvious here. But I am trying to help.

I loooove this game! This is more fun than, well, almost anything else I have played.

Here are pics of my saber. She is not as pretty as my Connie refit, but She has three forward weapons and is great in a dogfight. :yum: I thought about giving her an asthetic overhaul, but I think I'll just wait for the akira or defiant.;)

Also, I am looking for a good impulse engine, mk III or IV and maybe a torpedo, also III or IV. I would rather not spend all my dilithium on one or spend 5000 energy credits each.

Nice, Z! Looks lethal!.

Decided to re outfit all my crew in Fleet colors. I was surprised at how few Fleet unis there are available. So, being the industrious little minion I am, I decided a little toadying up to the boss was in order. The following are some proposals for Fleet unis so at least Captains can be recognised in Away Teams durting Fleet ground missions.

Colours: (See? I can spell English, lol. Now spelling Aussie, let alone speak it properly....j/k)

Standard Starfleet colors are fine. What I propose is Flag rank officers can optionally substitute white for their branch colour. They are also unbound by any restriction on uniforms. This is traditional in some services. When I was in the US Army, once someone made Flag rank, he/she could add whatever they liked to the standard uniform. Anything is permissible by tradition and custom. Saw GEN Tommy Franks (Yep. That Tommy Franks. Way back when he was a one star.) wearing a Santa hat on Christmas Day during Desert Storm. All I could think since we were pretty close to the front was, "Hope no snipers are looking."

Officers below Flag Rank wear their branch colour as depicted below. Took the Tactical 1 Uni and changed the last colour to my branch colour, Ops.
Officers wear their rank as depicted below.
Officers wear the Fleet Badge as depicted below.
Unless specifically required by the current tactical situation, no body armour or kits shall be worn.

Space Dock looks like the Unimatrix most of the time with all the people wearing tactical gear. Tacky and, I'll say it cuz I mean it, unprofessional. The only reason most of 'em aren't toting phaser rifles is because the game won't allow ground weapons to fire on a Star Base. Otherwise the signage would be covered in disruptor bolt burns. Kinda being nitpicky here but for a good reason. If a Captain can be trusted to pay attention to and comply with the small details, he/she can be trusted to get the big things right during a Fleet fight. Sorry, My Platoon Sergeant surfaced for a bit there. He's back under control. for now.

Here are some examples. I'm not the best clothes horse in the Fleet, but somebody hadda do it, lol. So I volunteered.

Good work Thunderfoot. We (Maj, Kat, and I) are still working on getting the fleet in order. Sorry it is taking so long but, with the time difference, they are starting out the day as I am finishing it. We will add more uniforms once we get more important issues (such as how fleet bank will be ran and fleet promotions) in order. I do agree with most (if not all) of your recommendations and they will be taken into account. We do encurage all members to chime in with ideas.

No worries. Just thought I'd try to lend a hand.

For some reason I do not understand, the server kept kicking me off at erratic times and under erractic circumstances. I've no idea why. When it happened four times in less than ten minutes, I said, "Enough!" I deleted the character and started again from scratch. I did not want to do this and I did try everything I could think to resolve the issue. I'm pretty sure I had some things which belonged to the fleet in that account and I did not think to check prior to deletion. I am sorry and I will do my best to replace them ASAP. Character name is still, "Thunderfoot"

No worries. It is nothing on your end or with your character. This sort of thing happened with Kat and I too. With the release of the Featured Series, you have way too many people trying to log on and do the missioins. The servers can not handle the strain that the players put on it. The one improvement between this series and the last is that last time, the server actually crashed....several times. This time, it just booted players. I know it is fustrating. What I did to avoid it last time was to wait til Tuesday or Wednesday to play through the missions.

Oh, and, chances are, it will happen again next week.

Good to know and thank you SciFiFan. Nothing is so bad tyhat some good does not come of it. By beginning all over I have the chance to do all the tutorials in the correct order, this time. lol I displayed a little too much initiative last time by trying to do some things which I knew had to be done and then waiting for the game to catch up. Didn't work quite like I planned. So I get a do over. Should be back up to my previous character's rank fairly quickly.

Got the Prometheus now and a healthy dose of humility.

I thought some missions were too easy when i played them on normal so i tried elite... let's just say i need a lot better equipment and some practice if i want to do all missions as elite.

Mhhh.... everyone is getting ahead of me.

I used to be one of the first to achieve Captain. And now I am likely gonna be the last to be even a Rear Admiral....
