Yep, that's the pic that started it all Hellkite. All the pain, headaches, cross-eyed, and hair pulling out!!:lol2: I always wanted to draw this on the computer but ever attempt ended in total failure. But with your help and your bad ass designs as inspiration, here we are.

That is the thing my friend

See it's your interpretation of
Richard Michael Sternbach's work / design

As not to violate copy right law needs to be noted as such

Do I need to say "Save us all form the lawyers "

So I will be going back in your posts to note this as to legally shield the site and you

Very interesting! That same concept in the bottom left corner also seems to be the basis for the Insignia Class. And I would also argue the top right looks an awful lot like the Ent-J.

You are right Hellkite. Thanks for covering my tail. My art has always been just for me. Very few people have ever seen anything of mine and the few that have couldn't have cared less one way or the other. But your right I should have thought ahead before posting online.

Pretty cool stuff you've got there mate. :)
I can't draw if my life depended on it, so pretty interesting designs you've pumped out. :)

Thanks mate. Its nice to hear that someone likes them.

Can't draw you say? Not so sure I buy that one from the guy that has been modeling a ship a day for the last week or so. Art takes many different forms. Just because you can't draw with pencil & paper or MSpaint doesn't mean spit. Your medium is your modeling program. Plus I bet you would be surprised at what you could do if you tried a few designs in mspaint. Just takes a little time and practice. Look at my first sorryass attempts at Mspaint in the GI Joe thread. You would think I couldn't draw either! But I'm getting better. Each time I improve my technique and get a little faster. My last ship a knocked out in about half the time of the one before, of course its smaller with no engineering hull but still. If the stupid "fill" brush in mspaint would stop overlaying my black outlines I could knock another 25% off of my time! Sometimes it works I just wish I know why it screws up sometimes.

You'd be surprised, why do you think I enlist people like Hellkite to concept designs for me like he did for the stations for my ENT era Earth (Star Trek) a number of years ago. Because I am utterly hopeless, my concepting is usually with the models themselves. Using Milkshape3d is pretty easy for modelling it's using the advanced programs than go over my head with how complicated they make something that's supposed to be so simple. Which is why I have stuck with MS3D after all these years even if I am pushing the program to it's limits. Lol.

It's true art takes many forms, just pointing out I'm impressed that you can draw in these programs, I tried a few times and in the end out of frustration I rage quit hahaha.

What's this in the "end" thing you speck of? I swear I start out frustrated with mspaint!! And rage quit will does threating to ripe mspaint out of the hard drive one bit at a time count? My last project is not going well by the way. The side view came out just the way I wanted but when I went to do the top view it went down in a flaming bag of shet!!!!

So far the bridge module is the only thing that's worth posting!
bridge.png

Kind of a bridge, captain yacht, and lifeboat all rolled into one. The bridge module includes: bridge, captains ready room, conference room, a small sickbay, crew courters as in bunk beds, head, impulse engine, warp 4 engine, nav. deflector. This way the bridge crew can stay at their post until the last second when they would eject from the mother ship.

Hey @Hellkite I've been making progress although sloooowly on my new design. I've hit a wall and would like some help. I'm not satisfied with how the top view of the nacelle on the saucer looks. To bulky. I'm ok with the bottom view but every time I try something similar on top it looks worse. I could use a little of that magic touch of yours. The nacelles on your ships always look great and innovative. Thanks for any help or insights.

Top view on, well, top of pic. I only include halfs of the ship to save space

What I think I see mostly is that your dating your designs to post TLE to pre TNG over all that locks you into a certain look over all.

I can't argue with any of that. What can I say I'm just a racoon with champion tastes on a trash can budget. Guess I may have to step into the post TNG era and give that a try after I finish my current project. Thanks for the insight.

Just wanted to drop by and say mighty fine work on your starships. I can't draw anymore (one failed project killed my ability to draw). I can only make kitbashes of TOS/TMP era ships with shipbucket parts. Please keep making starships.

Also, I'm not sure if its intended as it looked like you're using MS Paint, but I love the dark grey/light black color scheme.

Thanks Alex. I'm glad you liked them. The color scheme was intended, and I've been using Paint3D only because I can zoom in and out with the mouse wheel. I zoom in and out a LOT!
