As I earlier commented, I said that Torchwood season 1 reruns will be on 10 HD starting tomorrow Thursday December 20 at 9:30pm. Well they are now off as in their place are the remaining episodes of Journeyman which has been axed from the regular channel.

As reported on DoctorWhoNews.com, Torchwood season 2 will begin when it airs (in the UK) on BBC2 on January 16. The date was confirmed with the BBC running trailers for the season.

Yeah I saw an advert for it yesterday, it looks good, and I'm glad Martha's in it, as she was a really good character in Dr Who.

In the first episode of Torchwood, Everything Changes, Jack says that the 21st century is when everything changes and you got to be ready.
In the Doctor Who season 33 set there is a deleted scene from Jack's appearance in the season finale Last of the Time Lords. Just before he says goodbye to the Doctor and Martha, he says the 21st century line. The Doctor asks what it means in which Jack says that he does not know, saying it sounded good. What!?!

In the season 1 episode Ghost Machine the DVD commentary consisted of Burn Gorman (Owen), writer Helen Raynor and director Colin Teague.

The guest cast included Gareth Thomas who had played Blake in Blake's 7 and the fact that he was Blake was mentioned by the commentators with Helen Raynor saying it took a lot of effort for production contributors not to call him Blake!

On the weekend bought the second issue of Torchwood Magazine and found out that showrunner, co-producer and Head Writer Chris Chibnall has left Torchwood to become Executive Producer and showrunner of Law and Order: London, the British version of the US show.

Also read on Wikipedia that Torchwood producer Richard Stokes is also involved in Law and Order: London as producer.

This means that if Torchwood gets a third season it would also be getting a new showrunner, head writer and producer.

Just caught an ad of BBC HD which is available to subscribers of Foxtel HD+ and I noticed included in the ad is Torchwood.

Looks like Torchwood has moved out of UKTV for pay tv screening.

Looks like Torchwood has not moved out of UKTV as I read this FAQ on the UKTV site:
Q2: Is series 2 of Torchwood coming to UKTV?
A: Yes, early next year.

This should be good news for those who do not have 10 HD but have UKTV.

Channel TEEN in Australia is changing it's HD channel to 24x7 SPORT this year.
Sometime. They have already dropped all/most of their alternate programming.

So unless TEEN is setting up two SD channels, (and despite all the ads for 'Freeview" & 15 channels, no-one is sure as to exactly what's happening), forget seeing Torchwood in Australia on FTA.

You're better off getting the DVDs or downloading anyway.

Picked the following up from BenjaminElliott at the Doctor Who Forum:
"Martin at the South Australian Doctor Who Fan Club is reporting that ABC has now purchased Series 1 and 2 of Torchwood, and will probably air them on ABC2 in late 2009. No other links right now.

Guess this means Torchwood will *eventually* return to free TV."

Season 2 UKTV marathon:
Interestingly the marathon only included some not all of the Declassifieds. The Declassifieds were the ones for Adam, From Out of the Rain & Exit Wounds.

The Life and Deaths of Captain Jack:
This is a special feature on the season 2 DVD.
When it showed the scene from Exit Wounds of Jack just being dug out in 1901, having been buried in 27AD, and him crossing his own timestream, producer Richard Stokes therefore said that there are two Captain Jacks in the 20th century - the one that lived through the entire 20th century the first time around and the one that went into the morgue after being recovered in 1901. In actual fact there were actually four Captain Jacks altogether during the 20th century.
The first time was during the Blitz when he met the Doctor and Rose and the other was him being back in 1941 along with Tosh in Captain Jack Harkness.
This programme also included intercutting of scenes of End of Days with Utopia when Jack left Torchwood to run to the TARDIS. Very very well done.
As well as clips of Chris Eccleston and David Tennant in the parent Doctor Who series, this programme also included interviews with Tennant. This is perhaps the closest we would get of having the Doctor appearing in the actual Torchwood series. This is because of Torchwood being just for adults and caution had been made of having the Doctor in the Torchwood series with even a suggestion it might require him to swear. The Doctor using bad language is not something that the young viewers should be seeing.

It seems that Children of Earth has been well received by Australian audiences from those who saw it on UKTV as a poll from TV Tonight shows that Torchwood is the favourite current cable drama. A last look at the results were:
Torchwood 23%
Other 23%
Chuck 18%
Dollhouse 15%
Damages 8%
Pushing Daisies 6%
Breaking Bad 4%
The Tudors 3%

In a follow-up to this in Torchwood Magazine issue 8 in an interview with Colin Teague, he said that in it's day Blake's 7 was almost a spin-off of Doctor Who, so it made sense for the star of that show Gareth Thomas coming in to Torchwood.

Getting away from Seasons 1, 2 and 3 for the moment... With the ending of Season 3, does anyone have any news or anything on what is to become of Torchwood? I'd have thought, how they left it pretty much says "yeah, well thats it now"...

Torchwood's future is still to be determined.

Children of Earth Day Five:
The 808th Whoniverse episode and Children of Earth as a whole has been the 240th Whoniverse story.
We finally see Gwen's video about the Doctor. Undoubtedly the Doctor would have come up with a better solution in defeating the 456 had he been around.
Written by Russell T Davies. Quite interesting the approach that has been taken on the placing of the writers for the five episodes - Russell T Davies for the first and final episodes as well as a colloboration with James Moran for the middle episode while John Fay filled the other two episodes.
Bridget recounting to Lois how she first met Frobisher has been intercut effectively with Frobisher doing a very terrible thing.
Johnson becoming an unexpected ally of Jack is quite surprising.
Very tragic the method that was used to destroy the 456. As the Doctor would say: I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.
Prime Minister Brian Green sure got a nasty surprise from Bridget. I have noticed that in both Doctor Who and now in Torchwood, Russell T Davies has written Prime Ministers either as villains (Joseph Green and Harold Saxon) or someone who has done something terribly wrong (Harriet Jones and Brian Green). However in fairness to Harriet I don't think she would have had a callous attitude, that Brian Green has, in the taking of children.
If this turns to be the final episode of Torchwood then the epilogue served as a very fitting but very sad ending for the series. Torchwood has never been about happy endings and that ending sums up well the tone of the series.
If this is the final episode then it ranks highly with the final Blake's 7 episode.

To Australian viewers:
UKTV will have an encore screening of Children of Earth this time on a weekly basis from Tuesday July 14 8:30pm.

Found this out from an ad which promoted Tuesday nights belonging to UKTV and featured Doctor Who, Torchwood & Primeval in their Tuesday schedules but Doctor Who & Torchwood dominated the ad.
