He really did. I seem to recall a similar discussion previously about the beauty of the refit. She just has something that no other shop in star trek has

Aye

All I ask is a tall ship...

I've always thought these were some of the best looking ships ever seen in any sci fi TV series or film.

Yep have to agree that the classic cylon raiders are one of the best models ever dreamed up. Though my memory tells me their laser canons shot blue and not greenish yellow. Im thinking we could use a faceoff of the top 5 space superiority fighters now lol.....

Great image Thunder, I actually preferred the TOS Raiders over TNS ones.

Im thinking we could use a faceoff of the top 5 space superiority fighters now lol.....

If we do I would put my vote in for the B5 Starfury.

Slightly OT, but anyways... We were discussing programming languages at /b/ when someone posts something about RedHat's new language. Of course, it's called Ceylon. Yeah, it's a joke, with Java being coffee and Ceylon being tea, but com'on, I mean... how more obvious can they be? I'm just waiting for them to declare that they're moving their HQ to Caprica City and start producing shiny robots. Cylons running on Linux, imagine that...

I converted these over myself for my own use from Kreeargh's meshes a long time ago.

Sounds like a good idea for a poll, lol. People get very...passionate, about what is the best looking fighter in sci fi.

X-wing, number 1 with a bullet
See what I mean, Ryder? Farmboys. Sheesh! Up until now he's been one of my fans, rofl.

I know from personal experience Centurions use open source coding. Much more flexible and easier to adapt to new purposes. They learned it from CABAL. He is the originator. lmao

LOL. My smartphone doesn't like when I try to quote previous posts for some reason. I'm definitely a fan TF , but in terms of a top 5 face-off, the X-wing comes out top for me. That or a slip fighter from andromeda. In terms of what's shown on screen anyway.

A long time ago someone around here spoke of doing personalized ships. I cannot remember who or why we were doing this in the first place, but it was kinda cool! I think I asked for my personalized ship to be a Solaria class battlestar named "Thunderous". I forgot all about it until today while going through some old files on a thumb drive. Turns out I did one for myself. I do not remember when I did it, but I thought I'd share her with you.

I think I got it off of A2Files. Part of a pack which was supposed to be high resolution or something.

Been playing with Jet's release of Gabe's ENT. Really enjoying her a lot. Decided to tweak the textures a bit more to my liking and then decided to make a pic or two. Here's one.

Recently, I asked Jetfreak to do a registry-less version of the GKPrise. He very graciously agreed. He also did a Hero ship for me, USS Potempkin NCC-1657. I placed the blank in game and really liked it. But there were a few things I wished were different. So I tweaked the textures again, starting with the Bussards. I thought they should be orange-red, as a tribute(and reminder) of the original 1701, so I made it so. I also applied a bit of lightmapping to the main deflector dish. To simulate the numerous things the main dish and the primary sensor suite are capable of. I really like Gabe's take on 1701, "with no bloody A, B, C, D." She has a sturdy, industrial look which just appeals to the detail fanatic in me. I cannot look at the textures without finding something new to enjoy. My only real complaint about GKPrise is the saucer seems to be a little small from some angles. But this is very minor and really just me nitpicking. I intend to send this set of textures off to Jet ASAP. Along with another ODF, BB, and wire frame.

Hello:
I learned that every time you say you make tweaks to the textures and lightmaps I can expect something great to see, and this is no exception. The ship looks fantastic, I am glad Jetfreak made a non-registry version for you to play with, and those pics are amazing.

Looks nice! I like the buzzard collectors and how they look like the original ents, I didn't think to do that. I just made them look more like the actual pics, but I think yours came out better.

Thanks Z. Gabe's original Bussards are a little bland and not up to the quality of the rest of the textures, I think. Using the same color palette as the rest of the ship also makes them blend in a little too much. Same with the main deflector. There is a large amount of detail on this which gets lost under regular A2 lighting. This is a very detailed mesh. There are quite a lot of things going on here. I just thought the bussards and the main deflector appeared...subdued compared to the rest of the textures. I am first and foremost a TOS fan, so I applied TOS-like Bussards and got lucky they looked good first time out. Tried this idea out on JJprise once. It kinda fell flat. Sent these off to Jetfreak already. If you'd like a set for your FleetOps version, you'll need to ask him. Pretty sure he'll say yes but I cannot really speak for him.
