Anglophile, eh?? I think I have a lotion for that somewhere...:p I can respect a man that enjoys a pint... but I've got to ask - was it ale or lager...??

Starfox1701 - I will look into this - I never thought about editing the Alpha Channel directly in PSP - pretty dumb when you think about it... I wasnt really sure if it could...

Thanks a million for the explanation - I must repay this kindness one day...

Oh, and Thunderfoot - if this last try doesnt work, can I fire over the model+textures to you?

"A" pint? As in "one"? :lol2: Laddie, you've no faith in all in my ability to absorb alcohol whilst staying concious and functional. Sort of.
The pints were neither type. Black and tan. Don't recall the brand. And with a proper head as well. Almost a meal in itself. lol.
Alas, on this side of the Atlantic, there is no such thing as good beer. I love my country and I am proud to be a citizen of these here United States. But beer is one thing we do very, very badly. I won't even mention the 'light' versions. *shudders uncontrollably*

Sure. I take a whack at it. Go check your PMs for my email addy. I cannot remember if I sent it to you or not.

Ha ha!!!! Light Beer - they do that in Norway too - I wont touch the stuff on general principle... For pretty boys and posers only... Not for real men. Men with beards. Men with bad backs. Men that dont dance (Because of the bad back)... But also 'cos they're MEN. Men that take apart perfectly good tv remotes, just to see what they look like on the inside...

But I digress...

Big meaty head, Black? Tan? eh?? Sounds like you had yourself a brace of proper real ales - that'll put hair on your chest!! Or if you already have hair on your chest, it'll make it curly... But if its already curly, then it'll put hair on you liver... possibly curly...

Again... Digression...

I got the PM matey - I will attempt to fix this FUBAR texture situation - and if Im not up to it, I will fire it off to you with all speed - thanks a bunch for the help:thumbsup:

Awesomeness!

It is also interesting to know that the early Kelvin concepts looked just liked it, with all the familiar TOS elements and all.

Rodger! Looking forward to the results mate!

I have more things to show! See;

Kinda half way between a kit bash, a re texture and a new model... (She shares parts from the Constitution, the Kelvin, and also some newly modeled sections... The texture set is based on the Constitution ones...

A TOS Federation class dreadnought? It looks great! And a lot more credible than most of the three/five/whatever-nacelle ships. I especially like the top-down view, awesome. The only thing I don't quite like is the forward-facing shuttle bay. Fascinating idea, but it looks a bit irritating. Well, I'll get used to it, it's a fine ship. Great work!

Cheers matey!!

The forward facing bay is the only part of the design Im not too fond of either... and why have a rear facing deflector...? So you can Warp...Backwards...?

Some weird design flaws, but Its still one of my favorites none the less...

Wow - just goes to show, you live and learn... I didnt know that...

Another short update - I have the Constitution, the Kelvin and the Federation in game, with the interim textures (hopefully TF can work his magic over the ones I sent him) and interim ODF files...

I would take screen shots - but I cant figure out how to get the printscr key to work on my new laptop... Its quite embarrassing...

I have a HP Pavillion Dv6 - it looks nice and is reasonably powerful... but printscr and home share the same key... and the fn key that toggles doesnt seem to work when A2 is running...

hey ho...

Use CTR+P I think to take in-game screenshots that are saved to the Armada 2 and 1 directory as a BMP.

It is actually ALT + P to get screenies. FRAPS or any other video capture application can usually be set for an automatic capture rate. Sometimes, the freeware version of FRAPS can cause problems when starting a new game or it will cause A2 to CTD. To avoid this, start A2 first, then ALT + TAB to the desktop. Turn on FRAPS and then return to A2. If you plan on using the Editor during the game session, activate it after you start A2 but before you ALT + TAB to start FRAPS. Otherwise one or both applications will CTD. When using FRAPS with the Editor, remember both programs use the F12 function key and this can sometimes lead to unexpected results.

FRAPS is also prone to cause lag so turn everything off except A2 and FRAPS if you are using the video capture feature instead of taking screenshots. The freeware version captures pictures in .bmp format to the FRAPS folder. The full version can capture screenies in other formats, but I prefer the .bmp one since I find it easier to edit and then re format the pic to another type.

Well, ALT-P worked!

However, I couldnt get an angle that I liked... never mind though - as I am working on something else...

I started going over my old model of that old Klingon Warhorse, the D7...

A bit of a first for me here - Im using the texturing technique that Fahres outlined on another thread to create a whole new texture set... its working out rather well - so well in fact that I think I will use the "Fahres method" from now on...

And I will also name it the "Fahres Method" from now on too... like the "Immelman Maneuver" or "Occam's Razor"

I will try to get pics up today / tomorrow...

She's not perfect by any standard, but she's a MASSIVE improvement over the last crack I made at this classic design...

Im thinking that I get the D7 done, then Re do the Romulan BoP, then I could release the three as a complete TOS ship pack...

Oh, and dont worry, Ive not given up on Haol: Fleet Command - Im just taking a wee break - in all honesty, Im using these models and textures as a kind of modding boot camp, trying to improve my techniques as much as I can, so that when I do get back to H:FC, it will look all the better...

When it comes to a major project one needs to take a break often otherwise you'll burn yourself out. It's a reason I haven't done much on Yesteryears myself, I almost burned myself out when Syf and I worked on it for 2-3 straight years.

These days I do smaller projects, things that I can enjoy without burning myself out. I will get back to Yesteryears soon, I just have a few things I want to do first.

The models are looking good DinoJR, some designs are often hard to get right. I often use a SFC mesh as a template, importing it and building my model around it. That way I can get the portions right.

Keep it up, I love seeing your work and others too done. I love watching a model evolve. :)

Now, I have the models and the base textures done for an Original Series ship pack of sorts... all I need to do is fix up the old ODF files, and do some build buttons etc... then we are cooking with gas, as they say...

Hopefully I will have these released in the next couple of weeks...

Hello:
Today a tv channel aired Star Trek Nemesis, I saw (again) the newer Romulan designs and now I see those. They are all pretty and it sure shows how the Romulan empire has changed it's way of thinking as the Star Trek's timeline flows.
The models are very well done, I can see them for eye-candy pics and for non-lagging use ingame, which is awesome.
Keep it up!

Not really a screen shot as such... I used a render of the model in MS3d, then payed with it in PSP9... added a star field / background I found on line...

Not bad JR. I tried the same thing with a with a Dawnstar but the contrast was too great. I didn't like it to much.
