• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

[Request] A TMP/TLE mod of our own....

Hi folks, Unfortunately in my resources window I don't seem to have a button to add resources.
However I've been slowly going through old files and playing around and I found the attached.
I can't recall what it takes to get a GUI ingame but it was based on the A2 GUI Tutorial by Chyu Chen.

The rar also has the editable PSD files in there for your use if you'd like.

IIRC You have to have a significant amount of messages/posts to be able to upload stuff by yourself in the Resource tab. In the meantime, IIRC you're supposed to contact one of the Admins to upload stuff on your behalf.

(I'm probably wrong as I've been away for awhile because of work; so take it with a bit more than a grain of space dust)

It's kind of a shame that well-known modders that went inactive for a while have to go through the vetting process all over again if their prior profile went inactive. You might be able to contact some of the admins and get around that but I can't speak on their behalf so I'm not sure

Okay...

So... its been a while since I posted any progress on this.. The decision was made to move the mod back to stock FO. The reasons being that I just wasn't satisfied with having to reconvert all of FO back to stock A2 essentially. I also felt that I was using too much of KA2's assets to justify truly calling this a new mod. It felt like I was just modding KA2.. and I really don't want that. And to start over from scratch using A2 Classic was also going to be far too much work. So the mod has been reworked back into FO.. and i have made a lot of progress. I also realize that I haven't posted any shots of any ships here.. and I would like to rectify that situation. I am also looking for any help that I can get with some GUI and build/system buttons.

Here are some images of the Klingon Flagship, Kronos One. I recently completed a retexture of, using various sources, Wicked Zombie's KTinga Class Cruiser.. Also picture is a heavily modfied/textured USS Enterprise-A also by Wicked Zombie... Kronos One, along with all the K'tingas in the mod fall in about 3600 or so polies.. and have physical disruptor cannons, courtesy of ChileTrek. The Enterprise.. is somewhat modified. Features modelled phaser banks and a new lower sensor array/dome courtesy of my friend Wiley Coyote.. The Constitution refit is about 9800 polies.. with the additions..

Edit: Didn't realize one of the shots was the OG 1701 refit.. so there ya go as a bonus.

Have made a lot of progress on things the last few weeks.. completed an updated Fed and Klingon UI... have finished a boatload of build buttons for the Feds and the Klingons.. almost finished the Hull research buttons for the Feds.. and then need to start on the System and Upgrade buttons... the Fed side is also playable and can be played against as well... almost ready to start beta testing the Fed side...

edit: The Klingon UI seen in the first pic, has been updated to what is seen in the second pic. Also have been able to dicipher the UI coding so that I can move the system icons and UI text around on the interface..

You might also recognize some of Majestics ships and stations from the aborted Yesteryears mod. YES, these models will be in the mod and will finally see the light of day! Granted use by Majestic with all of his blessings.

Wow... October 2021.. I have been extremely neglectful of this topic..

A fact I intend to rectify starting today..

Anywho. This mod is still being worked on.. as witnessed by others in the community. I am of course only one person and always looking for help.. Starfox and I the last 5 days or so have been working on taking the mod in a Star Fleet Battles/Star Fleet Command style direction regarding ship stats, weapon damage, weapon types and vessel movement.. I have been exhaustingly testing updated physics for ship movement.. as trying to simulate with weapon ranges, and firing delays.. how a real player would play Starfleet Command, but have it automated by Armada's game engine. It hasn't been easy.. but we have been slowly approaching what we think would be some legitimate results in this regard. I also have some updates to several models, as well as a brand new ship class that has never been made for Star Trek Armada.. anywhere..

I present the Decatur Class Strike Cruiser.. designed as a fast response ship, and slightly more heavily armed than the famous Constitution Class Heavy Cruiser, the Decatur Class ships would be dispatched where the scientific facilities and resources of the Constitution Class were not needed. These ships were intended to show hostile forces, that the Federation could, and would defend itself if the need arose. These ships were built late in the 2260s as the Constitution was fast approaching its next refit cycle. Many of the Decatur Class ships were refitted into the more familiar Belknap Class Strike Cruisers (Also a first for Star Trek Armada) and as these ships were slowly refitted, you won't have the opportunity to build them from a shipyard (maybe) However, you could see one or two populate the map as the Federation will have reserve forces available to warp in if the need arises..

I also took the opportunity to redo my Constitution Class textures, for what feels like the millionth time, and actually took the time to correct many of the flaws in Lord Schtupps original Connie model that mine uses.. for the longest time, i was using parts to accurize the Conny made by Wiley Coyote, and although exceptional, drove the poly count for an older mass produced ship up way to high.. Thanks to our very own Majestic.. I was able to get a bridge and lower sensor dome for the Connie that is not only extremely well built but very accurate, at a fraction of the polies of the previous version.. I also have Majestic to thank for building me the secondary hull for Decatur. It was built so well that it was only a little minor tweaking (cause lets face it, that's all I'm capable of doing from a 3D modeling perspective) to get it perfect. The Decatur also uses the same bridge and sensor dome pieces as the Connie.. so in a way the only parts of this model that he didn't build were the saucer section and warp engines.. so thank you Majestic not only for quickly and efficiently building me those parts, but also for this excellent site upgrade for me to be able to show off some of the work that ive been doing. And now without further ado.. here are some images of these ships.. some will be ingame shots and some will be MS3D so you can see her without the game's rendering engine...

as mentioned in my previous post.. here are some MS3D images of the Decatur and updated Constitution Class (NCC-1701 of course)

The Enterprise textures were done by referencing the restoration of the original 11 foot model from the series as it was restored for the Smithsonian Museum.. naturally some changes that were made to the textures will be updated for the Decatur and other ships such as the Saladin, which is pretty much finished, and the Surya Class frigate.. that is one ship I am definitely looking forward to working on and getting accurate specs for in the game.. Thanks to everyone for reading both of these long posts I put up.. rest assured there WILL be more. Thank you!

Pursuit of perfection as always Cap, there's plenty of details to chew on in light of the Smithsonian restoration.

Hello:
Lots to see and to catch-up on! Will you be making ships like those oddballs from FASA?

Maybe someday I should restart my AU of Star Trek :plan:

A little project I started and have pretty much finished today... rolling along with the retexture of some TOS ships.. here is the Enterprise from the 2nd Pilot - Where No Man Has Gone Before...

FOScreenShot_220619_130905.pngFOScreenShot_220619_130925.pngFOScreenShot_220619_131007.pngFOScreenShot_220619_131046.pngFOScreenShot_220619_131106.pngFOScreenShot_220619_131111.pngThis version of the filming miniature is what showed up in most of the first season credits.. most likely because they filmed the credits before the show got officially picked up and before the rest of the changes were made to the model.. and yes, this IS also a version of the ship with the famous blue neck... and when it was updated for the series, a portion of that blue was masked off and remained.. and she is side-by-side with the Series version for comparison..

People are debating on the bridge window on that pilot version, turns out it was really an idea floated at the time.

im actually not certain if it was illuminated or not.. I can't remember.. and finding a decent source from the original series is very difficult.. tried going more for what the physical model looked like vs the Remastered version..

1655684677607.png
here is an image of the original model.. and it has a lit window of some sort on the side of the bridge.. which is in line with how the ship looked during the Cage.. but the ship also has all of the marker lights of the 2nd Pilot version. And The Cage version of the model wasn't lit... LOL soooooooooo yeah..

Are you going to make every version of the Enterprise then?

well most sources, including the CGI Remaster show the bottom two marker lights as white while the upper are red/green on port/starboard. In quite a few images from TOS original effects the marker lights are also white.. yet some stills/shots show them colored.. so hard to determine what they are supposed to be LOL

1655767595330.png
these bottom marker lights here...

1655767633851.png
here is a shot from the original effects.. they are white here as well..
1655767687349.png
and here...

yet here.. they are clearly colored red/green respectively..

1655767913439.png

hence my confusion LOL not certain if the color was lost in production or added by accident in some of the stock footage.. since more of it has them white then it does colored.

That's a bit of a challenge, damned if you do and if you don't lol

My gut says go with the plain white lights if you really want the TOS vibe, most purist fans go that route

Hello:
Maybe TOS should go with white strobes, but as you progress in era you can give it the separate colours, it would be a neat wat to show progression.

Hello:
Something I am liking a lot is the way the shuttlebay doors are illuminated, so I can see you can make great use of Alpha Channels, something I can't sadly do unless I find my old Photoshop between my backup remnants.

Also, have you decided this ship's role ingame?

Keep it up!

Only a matter of time until the younger sister showed up, nice mix of the various TOS Mirandas we've seen over the years. Definitely your original take on it.
