Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.
Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.
We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.
Wow, that is stunning. Never got into B5, but that looks great. Kind of, sort of reminds me of the Roger Young
Nice work on the... she needs a name!
May have to correct that.
It's original but does have a trek influence.I like it! Is it a Trek ship or an original setting? Kind of hard to tell from the shape.
I don' think it will be too bad for this one. There will only be 7 decks and I'm going to make a detail archive as I go to speed things up.Good luck with that. I once started an MSD and it took soooo much time I moved on to other things.
Yes the jumpoint is an object.I love the ship and you've done a great job with the lighting on the renders.
How did you make the jump gates? Are they painted in afterwards or are they rendered objects, something about them looks a little off to me, I'm no sure why.
I'm not a big fan of the jump attack image. Aside from the jump points the space background is very black and featureless, I know in the Lost Tales they used black backgrounds in the Warlock battle, but other than that B5 used a lot of colour in the background. It's not helped by all the "clutter" being in the left side of the image and nothing being in the foreground.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the work you've done, and it's always great to see you pump out more images, it's just not appealing to my sense of aesthetics (the picture that is, I like the ship).
I was actually planning to try something like this for my Whitestar attack image, but the foreground vs background thing is why I swapped to the rear view coming out of the jump point.
I think in the movie call to arms they did have a side view jump point exit which did show it as a elongated vortex. I'd have to watch the movie again to be sure. You know, these posts remind me that I wish they had shown a jump point from the back at least once. We only ever see them from the front, and usually at an acute angle. What is the actual geometry? Is it a three dimensional vortex or is it a two dimensional hole connecting two different three dimensional regions? If the latter, what does it look like from behind? I suppose the jumpgate design implies a three dimensional shape, but we don't really know.
