Much better

In A Call to Arms they did a nice shot of the Excalibur flying into the vortex panning to the side. From the side the vortex was flat.
I imagine that the vortex should be a cylinder, but it always looks conical due to the forced depth perception. Curiously in B5 the vortex is eliptical and not circular.
Of course it is punching through extra-dimensional space and therefore more than we can easily perceive being merely 4D beings, so who knows what shape it really is

We did see an interior view looking out during the battle for Proxima 3.

EDIT - I have clearly watched B5 far far too many times...

Nothing wrong with that. I own the whole series on DVD except for legend of the rangers. I just could never get into that movie. The concept was interesting but the movie was just hard to watch.

We all start small and grow from there. My work is years of trial and error.

The best part is the journey and all the awesome people we meet while creating and sharing art.

Very interesting design kjc!

A Call to Arms and Crusade had a brand new Jump Point vortex which I thought looked much better than the one from the mother series. I do recall some scenes which showed side views as ships entered or exited hyperspace but I am at a loss to remember exactly where.

Nevertheless, excellent job!

A nice 'fury, they aren't the easiest of things to build.

This one went surprising quick but I did have a plan. It was a fun weekend project.

Damn RJB, where were you when we were doing the B5A2 mod? These ships would have made a killing as the newer generation (Warlock era) ships of the Earth Alliance. Just plain gorgeous!

Always loved the Starfury. She is perhaps my favorite sci-fi fighter after Space Above and Beyond's SA-43A Hammerhead. I love that your Fury looks like a descendant of the original Aurora instead of the Thunderbolt used later in the show. While it was nice that the Thunderbolt had atmospheric flight and all, the original Aurora Starfury has such a unique elegant and very practical design that make it seem like a much greater space superiority interceptor.

I also love your new Corvette, it looks even better than B5 Wars' official Monsoon Class Gunboat. If given the choice, I would much rather have your Corvette in my fleet. Excellent work, cannot praise it enough.

I love how cinematic and well lighted the scenes are, B5 scenes done justice I'd say.

Same for me. Babylon 5 always defined tv sci-i for me.

I have a few more EA ships in mind but I may try some centauri designs. I also have some civilian ship design I may also do.

Yeah it was a fantastic series, proof of what a well written and thought out series is capable of. A shame none of the sequel series and movies really gained as much traction. I would've loved to see Crusade get a full 5 year run.

I am intrigued to see centauri designs I think after minbari and maybe Bakiri they're one of the harder races (younger races) designs to make.

TNT didn't want Crusade after B5's final season didn't bring in viewers the way they thought it would (people would tune in for B5 then tune right out afterward rather than staying and watching TNT's other shows), but they were obligated to give it a go due to the contract they signed with JMS. They decided to meddle as much as possible so they could drive the ratings down far enough to cancel it within the terms of the contract. That's why the uniforms change, episodes were aired out of order, and the time slot jumped around. I keep seeing talk of a B5 reboot, and it might work if they don't try to copy the original plot and characters 1:1 (there's just no way a new cast could directly compete with the original cast), but what I really want is a Crusade reboot that's given a fair chance.

Honestly I'd be fine with just a graphics refresh like they did with Trek - so long as they don't go as far as Discovery did in refreshing the graphics :lol2:

Although to be honest, the only real problem the graphics have is anything planetside. The space stuff still doesn't look that bad for the most part, maybe everything could do with a little extra level of detail but whilst it has aged it hasn't aged badly.

A Crusade reboot I could get behind, it didn't last long enough to really establish itself so they could pretty much do what they wanted to do.

I agree a Crusade reboot would be a welcome addition.
Graphic overhaul on the B5 series to the same level of detail as what we saw in the lost tales would be certainly a welcome addition and get me to buy the series again on blu ray this time. ;)

I've seen some modernized versions of the centauri ship designs that I liked so I may follow in those footsteps. I may start small as a test of concept with a fighter and go up from there. I may also touch into Narn ships later.

I still to this day love watching the battles. I'd be 100% on board to watch something of the lost tales level of detail but with an orignal story and cast. There is so much of a universe in Babylon 5 to explore that you don't need to rehash the original story.
