• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

hey all.

found this site through the fleet ops website and wanted to check out what you guys did and see if it was compatible with fleet ops. so let me make sure that I understand this right, I have to post 30 times, be a member for 2 weeks, and contribute something in order to download units for my game? Ive never modded anything really so Im not sure what I need to contribute. if someone could clarify this i would appreciate it

I'd be happy to clear this up. The limitations are in place to prevent people from simply registering here to raid the Downloads Section and then present it as their own work somewhere else. All of us here take a very dim view of mod theft. The people whom share mods with ther rest of us are special to this Community. We want them to continue to make new stuff and share with us. If they cannot do so without others taking advantage, then they'll stop sharing the wonderful things they make. The entire Community is much poorer when this happens, not just MSFC. This is one of the reasons behind MSFC being founded in the first place.

The main thing we like to do is have people actively participate here at MSFC. Anyone can lurk. Anyone can stay in the background and be ignored. We'd all rather this did not happen. We really do want you to feel like a part of the group, the "in crowd", one of the Cool Kids. Because you are already. Your participation, however big or small, makes MSFC a nicer place for everyone. You say you have never modded anything. Neither did anyone else when they first started. But they had. They changed the color of the Federation phaser beams in the game to their very favorite shade of Orchid Pink. Hothouse Tropical Orchid Pink. Or they adjusted a photon torpedo reloading time, or increased the range on a sensor, or something like this. What the limitations are really supposed to do is encourage new people to get to know everyone here better. And in this regard I think they work perfectly.

So leap before you look, post on everything, and help us "oooh" and "aaah" at Jetfreak's latest pic. Or post an opinion on something already here. The Downloads Section isn't going anywhere anytime soon. By the time you can D/L stuff, there should be more stuff to D/L. In the meantime, enjoy the place and welcome!

Exactly what Thunderfoot has told you. I have only been here a few weeks but feel that it is the best site to be at and most of this is because of the limitations in getting to download right awy. I only recently downloaded some mods, actually they were mostly MS3D meshes because that is all the StarGate mods I could find here for now, but maybe that will change.

Welcome to our Community

It's 10 rep and 30 post to download

There is no required contributions.

We only as that ask that you do is get the right you get permission form the artiest/creator and display proper credits for the artiest/creator work.

It all just simple commend curiosity :)

Thunderfoot pretty much covered this for me, but I would like to elaborate on the following:

Ive never modded anything really so Im not sure what I need to contribute. if someone could clarify this i would appreciate it

Contributions are not always a physical thing, such as a download file in this case. Simply getting involved with the community through posts and discussions are what we mean by contributing to the community.

We only as that ask that you do get the right you get permission form the artiest/creator and display proper credits for the artiest/creator work.

It all just simple commend curiosity :)

Indeed, people whom haven't have found themselves banned here, reported to A2Files and their account info (email, IP addresses etc) reported to spammer lists that many website administrators (ourselves included) use when approving new registrations.

We take a very hard stance on mod theft. But it has been rare that we have had to go to any extremes like that. :)

Welcome to MSFC!
Ive never modded anything really
Everybody starts small. Get a guide, like Westworld's Big Book of Modding for Armada, then experiment with stuff and don't be afraid to ask for help. Eventually you'll find a part you're really good at, like Freyr with the AI or Jetfreak with retextures. I had no idea what area I would be good at when I started modding, and now I know that I'm really good at working around issues by thinking outside of the box. All you need is some time and practice. If you get stuck, we'll be more than happy to help you out.

And once again, welcome.

Welcome here!
I only can encourage you to start modding. It's the nicest days of modding when you start to learn it and everyday you realize: "Gee, I can do this thing, too! And this one as well! And this one! And this one!"
Good old days... :)

*heartbeat*The Emissary welcomes you*heartbeat*

I remember one of my first mods was changing the sounds for the Galaxy Class's photon torpedos to something much better. I was so proud of myself..and then i added a photon torpedo to the sovvy cuz i knew she fired both and not just quantums...and it has just snowballed from there...

You'll have a lotta fun with this game once you get the hang of modding. Youll have some frustrations and some scares..and anger and be ready to throw your computer out the window when you can't figure out whats causing a crash to desktop..but in the end when you figure out that all you did was leave a quote off of an entry in the sprite files..you'll breath a nice sigh of relief and let those Borg know that Resistance is no where near futile!!! Qa'Pla!!! Victory is life!!!!!!

So welcome and may you live long and prosper..and find fulfillment in whatever path you choose..
