The World Cup of Security

If you ask me, it is a world cup of security and currently the police forces win.
Police officers from Poland and Germany detained about 429 hooligans recently. Germany is as secured as it was in the 70s the last time (during a terrorist crisis).

I do not know how many police officers stand by for emergencies, but we have about 7,000 soldiers ready to handle a tricky emergency situation. Helicopters can be seen over the city and police sirens heard all day.

Actually, I hoped that a small and relatively poor country wins the cup, that'd be cool. I do not really like soccer, and here in Germany "our" team is treatened as if they won the world cup already.

Now when I think of the fact, that this continues for one month, :(

However, happy watching, hopefully Germany does make a good appearance ;)

World Cup Soccer!!!

Well, firstly, NO DISSING ANOTHER'S COUNTRY!

Apart from that, this is just to put in your ten cents about who's playing well, and, more importantly, votes for who's gonna win! No prizes, of course, but let's see who calls it . . .

Mine's on Brazil . . . for now . . . :)

^ Gotta admit, with the amount of cards Brazil's racking up, they might not make it to the Finals. Well, at least not with a full team.
But yeah, the Germans look set for it . . . Intrepid must be happy . . . ;) :) Heck, they're the host. Why not have them win it . . .

If you ask me, I'd like the Cup to be in a nation far far away. Haven't seen so much drunken people in such a short time.

However, the trainer of the national team really got his team up and running. They were a bunch of lame ducks before.
I just hate that everyone here considered Germany as World Cup winner even before the games began. Myself I am no soccer fan, even more the counterpart, but I think: May the best win.
And it really, really seems that many people have fun on the "fan miles" in Germany and that the people are a little more relaxed, which is quite untypical for Germans.

^Hmmmm. Interesting . . .

Well, me Ma thinks Portugal is gonna win. I dunno so much. But if she can tell you if a baby's gonna be boy or girl, just by looking at you (and has not once been wrong!), maybe there's something to what she says . . . :)

Italy, if its not Italy, then there is something wrong.

Who would root for France besides the French?

Blindeye, this is the second time in a fortnight that you have posted something offensive. There may be french members here or visitors that may/could take offense to what you posted. Granted its your opinion but when it comes to insulting another country it is not on. I strongly suggest you re-read the rules/code of conduct. If I see another post like this it will be deleted and you will be notified. Also re-read what Phoenix wrote earlier in the thread, "firstly, NO DISSING ANOTHER'S COUNTRY!" - Majestic

Hmmmm.... Well, it was quite the match. Nicely done, Italy. Must admit, was hoping for Portugal, but . . .

Well, looks like this subject's finished. Now, let's hope the South Africa is actually going to be up to hosting the next one . . . there was talk for a while about FIFA re-thinking us as a the host for 2010...

Well, see you all here next time! :)
