Hello:
I agree with everybody here, this WIP is looking very good, nice to see how you show the texture details as you progress :D .

I am also curious how powerful this is. I hope not very exagerated as the Scimitar (since that one was the preator's ship in Nemesis)... but I can truly see this one has quite some teeth  .

Keep it up!

Ohhhh no no no no no. I've seen those designs. No!

But nice work on the dreadnought pepperman, it fits in nice with the Scimitar.

I would be totally astonished, if I wouldn't know that this is the usual pepperman quality :)
Awesome work as always!

Thanks for the comments and encouragement guys. She is progressing, abiet slowly. I will comtine to show some progress when there is something significant to show. Poly count is running a bit over 5000 at the momment. As far as weapons go, still undecided as to what and where to make and place them.

A little work on the weapons pod. Thinking torp launchers top and bottom with medium and heavy disruptors to the right and left.

Looking nice, great to see the detail being put in into this model. Most times you just see a little cylinder or a texture "dot" someplace for a weapons launcher.

I know its a WIP, but I did notice some wonky smoothing inside of the launchers. If you're modelling this in 3dsMax, you can make use of the autosmooth function to help out with that. The SOD exporter will take care of the smoothing groups for Armada.

Thanks Mr. Vulcan. I will look the ship over WRT those smoothing groups once I get it all mapped and textured. I continue to read and experiment with Max 3D.

Awesome work Pepperman, very clean textures. What size are you using? 1024? 2048?

1024 x 1024 textures. Thanks for comments. Not too excited about the windows at the moment and not sure what to do about making them better.

Windows can be a pain, I have only done windows on my ENT Earth models and it can sometimes be a headache if the texture isn't mapped 100% right. What I do to make them look better is add a bevel and shadow to them to make them look a little more 3D as if they go into the hull rather than just sitting on it. The result is pretty successful and I am happy with the results. I use photoshop for my textures.

Hello:
That is simply a very great work, I like the hull patterns very much! . I also know how windows can be a pain, but i am very sure you'll be able to make them with no problems.

Keep it up!

Going to call this one done and package her up for release. Poly count = 5552 with 5 texture maps. Plenty of optimization could be done to tighten up the textures and the like but I have run out of time and real life has a nasty habit of getting in the way. I had wanted to set up some LOD and try and reduce the poly count but there just isn't enough hours in the day. At this point I am not sure if I will even hard point this one.

If anyone wants to set her up for Armada (A1 or A2) or Fleet Ops, drop me a PM with your email addy and I will send you the files.

Regardless, I'll release the model files as well as the textures and grant permissions in the read me for editing (either the model or the textures). If any one puts her in game, feel free to add an image or two to this thread to show the ol gal off. :)

Looks very nice, are you planning on including the layered textures? As 5 maps are a bit excessive (I understand time restrictions, no offense intended) when most ships only use 1. So if you include the layered textures it will allow someone to map them all into a single texture.

It's a great model, and the textures look really good, I see no stretch or distortion at all. A top A+ job.

Hello:
That is an extremelly well-designed ship, it really fits the feel of the Star Empire (more for the Nemesis-time) :worship: .

And I would also hope textures can be fixed to make them only one, but I guess there are always methods for that. I am just glad the design is complete :) .

I created a 2048 x 2048 texture map and combined all the individual maps and then remapped the ship. Now you'll have one texture map for the entire mesh. I need to find a place to upload it now as it is too large to submit via email. Any suggestions?

The Reman Dreadnaught files can be found here and I have also submitted them here for download. This version of the release includes 3dMax and Milkshape versions of the model which have been mapped to a single 2048 x 2048 texture file. High (2048 x 2048), medium (1024 x 1024) and low (512 x 512) version of the texture file have been included. I also included a similar set that contains an alpha channel. I didn’t spend a lot of time on it and admit some improvement could be made. I’ll leave it to you all to set it up for the respective games.

Very nice work Pepperman. Looks fantastic. Had to pop it into 3dsmax to have a closer look :p Very clean model, I think I'm inspired to to make A1/A2 sods conversions for it.

Few things I might change/add if you don't mind:

- The green weapons launchers might look nicer in the cyan hue to match the rest of the glows on this ship.
- Some fully obscured polies behind the wings will cause flickering/poly bleeding in A1. Might remove those if they cause problems
- If anyone wants to see a damaged version, I might add some damage effects and hull scars.
- Might add some extra glows, especially for the A2 version.

Cheers :)
