• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

I have no idea what is going on. I know it's the SOD but I dont know why. I export the model out of MS3D and into the Aramada 2 SOD file. But when i go to view it in storm viewer it crashes it. And when i try to play the game crashes.

However, it works fine for Armada 1. I even put the sod in armada 1, cejcked it. then copied it to aramada2 and it still crashes. Gah!

Any clues or ideas as to WTH is happening?

My own experience of a model crashing is that the textures aren't saved right that being instead of being uncompressed TGA's they were saved as compressed TGA's.

Try checking that in your Armada 2 folder. ;)

Also if you are using lightmaps you have to save it as a Armada 2 SOD, if you are not using lightmaps you can save it as either a Armada 2 or Armada 1 SOD file though I always personally save them as Armada 2 SOD files.

OMG!

I feel so stupid. I had altered the textures to greyscale and forgot to reset the color depth!

Thanks Majestic. I was this close to attacking my computer.

Your welcome, I had the same problem when Syf sent me the Parallels Peacekeeper Vigilante, it kept crashing the game and when I resaved all the textures it started working. :)

Its a common problem/mistake, like missing a " in a odf file. ;)
