Well...my most recent one is...I run off of Windows Vista (stupid $1500US HP computer came with it and not downgradeable) and I was going to play my brother on Armada II and when I tried to sign online to set up the match.....Black screen! The whole computer just turned itself off!!! I was thinking "O.K. maybe it over heated, maybe a small power surge, what ever." So I booted up my computer again, tried to sign online and.... BAM...happened again. :x This point I'm getting PO...So I try once agian, do a little research, and I just can't freakin play Armada 2 online with Vista. Sure Single player works great, fantastic even. Now everytime I wanna play online vs. the world. I got to go to my 2 year old Dell Laptop. GGGRRRRRRR!!!!

Got to have been Tekken 5

Playing the computer on easy - fighting on the first match as Law. I nearly get a perfect before the computer somehow ducks under a kick, jabs twice at the leg before kicking me clearly across the stage and following with a flying leap thing which knocks me out. :cry2:

Worse defeat I've ever suffered in a beat-'em-up. Not even past the first stage :x

The bad part was that the computer was Jack-5...

i dunno. biggest peeve is when the game suddenly crashes for no reason (even on xbox 360!) when i havent saved for ages, meaning it has to be gone through all over again.

another worst moment has to be if you put a mod in armada, start the game in instant action and it crashes instantly, or mid game when you try to build the new addition, because then you have to go figure out what you messed up or missed out lol

My most recent worst moment was playing a Transformers (the 2004 game) game on PS2 (without a mem. card). I get the the final level just about to attack the last "boss", when my wife comes calling. I turn my head, look back, and my guy is sitting there dead...WTF... Arrgggghhhhh... now I have to do it all over again from the beginning.

Live and learn, use the mem cards religiously!

Got to be in HL2, i crossed a Check point (which over wrote my save so i start at that point) literally a second before i got shot, i had no health and every time started again after dying, i would get shot again, and die. so on and so on, i got so annoyed with the game that i threw it at a wall and it got slightly broked (whilst doing damage to the wall... which took a lot of explaining to my landlord)

I had that with Halo 3 when fighting the Scarabs on Earth. I was in a ghost and the check point saved and a second later a blast throws me over the edge and each time the checkpoint reloaded it happened again. It did that about 6 or 7 times, but luckly the 360 was smart enough to reload an earlier checkpoint, the bummer was I had to destroy the scarabs all over again.

Ok.....I was running an E-machine. It has a 1.4 GHz proc. and I don't remember the RAM. Maybe 256-512MB. On board video.... Well, Syf Modded a copy of A2 for us to play online. Basicly made everything fast build. You could build the smallest ship for the Feds in .5-1secs. When we started the game. We both did nothing but click nonstop on the build button. After somewhere around 5-10 minutes. My system went to the blue screen of death. It could not handle the video requirements. Needless to say. That was the last system I ever had that was without atleast a 32MB video card.

Most recent. Playing Kingdom Hearts on PS2. After playing for about 12 hours on the game. I started to save the game again. My knee hurt so I stretched my legs and the power went out. I had accidently hit the button on the surge protector. It corrupted the save file because it was in the middle of the save. Now I use 2 save spots on games when possible. I now alternate between saved games.

Gotta be Command and Conquer generals here ;) . Was playing Generals for afew days, completed the US missions and was on the chinese . On the 4th level the computer almost froze and red flakes started pouring down . I just thought it was a once off so i turned it off and loaded the save, happened again . Desided to uninstall it and then fire it back in while saving a copy of my stats, same happened again so i completly wiped it and it went fine but near the end of the US missions it done so again ! . Also happens in Zero Hour and The Movies so that PC has been booted quite alot . Cant play it on any of the PC's ( 1 screws everythin up, this 1 is great for the net but a default G card and i never use my sisters laptop ) . Cant wait til the new PC arrives, that might solve the problem ( Even EA's support couldnt solve it !. ive tryed 2 different disks and its the same ! )

But i had the same experience as maj did . years ago ( PSX era ) i was playin Tomb raider 3 . Could never get by without cheats back then ( But now ive learned, without cheats first and with if your gonna play thro a second time ;) ) . Was in some kind of artic mine where you used the carts . Used the cart and got to another area but didnt see much on my quick look around so i desided to advance futher . Got back in and saved it . next corner things get abit messy with no more tracks :lol2:

I might mention I won that match when my opponent "exited the battlefield".:)

It was actualy fun up to that. Either we had the "fog" off, or had already mapped to the bases, Anyways, I had set the fleet point next to his base. So hundreds of little scouts started pouring over his base from my shipyards (and he was pretty much doing the same to me). That was what, 2003.

It was a lot like Starcraft with the hoards of ships hammering the other guy... then *poof* o_O

It was something like that.

I know I have ruined many people's days on the evolves maps on Starcraft. I enjoyed the 3 on 1 matches against novice players. They could never understand how I could out flank thier units and win.

My worst gaming moments... Hmmm.

That must be storming a village in Operation Flashpoint:Resistance (modded, of course) with two Marine Corps fireteams. One commanded by me, the other one by a friend. So far everything went well. The Black Hawk delivered us to a covered position and we moved forward at once. Light armor was encountered and disabled quickly thanks to the Swedish AT4 shoulder fired grenade launcher.
We then advanced further, covering each other. Two DMRs (Designated Marksmen with refitted M-16 rifles with heavier barrel, scope and bipod) were dispatched to give anti-sniper cover. We entered the village and seized most of it quickly, disabling enemy defences successfully. But then the Fireteam of my friend rushed around a corner too fast and ended up in front of the barrel of a Soviet BTR-80 Armored Personell Carrier Tank. (LINK)
Only the fireteam leader, my friend, survived, so to say.

Afterwards several other APCs were rushed into the village and we were pinned down in a house. Presumably a T-90 tank opened fire onto the village to cut down some of the houses.

Thankfully two AH-64 Apaches and a Black Hawk managed to evacuate us.

The MW4M Chronicle

DropShip Ní-Hu-Chan
Inbound, New Avalon Landing Zone
Crucis March
Federated Commonwealth
3 March 3065

Sang-wei Zhao Zheng sat in the cockpit of his battered HBK-13J Hunchback as the Union-class DropShip settled onto the frozen ground just outside the Palace Grounds Battlefield. The massive hangar doors peeled open, allowing the Capellan MechWarrior to disembark.

The Sang-wei cleared the LZ, taking an overwatch position above the bowl-shaped pit that served as a landing field. "Zhao to Blue Team, commence Combat Insertion. No hostiles in vicinity." He rotated the 'Mech's torso around to better see the Palace Grounds, almost a dark speck in the distance. Already he could see the bright drive flares of the Red Team's DropShips on descent.

****.(I know you did not mean the one that holds back water)

Some time later, the entirety of Blue Team had arrived in their multitude of DropShips. Zhao himself was sandwiched between a Jade Falcon Daishi and a Snow Raven Masakari with a Draconis Combine Mauler watching his rear. Not exactly the best position in the world for "The Defiler", but this battle was about more than Nationality. It was about Color! The damn Genocidal Reds had slaughtered thousands of Blues on Cerulygos VII and today was about payback.

Ahead of Zhao's ad-hoc Lance, Blue Leader's Lyran designed Hauptmann paused in its steady march and half-turned back to the Company. "Alright you sorry sacks of marmalade, fan out and search the city first. Report any contacts. After the sweep, rendezvous at NavBeta and we'll go from there. Copy?"

"Aff, Leutnant-Colonel," the Clanners responded.
"Jawohl, Colonel." The Germanic Lyrans replied.
"Hai, sensai." ...Dracs...

Zhao merely shrugged and trudged his 50-ton 'Mech into the city, using both his instruments and his naked eyes to look for enemy positions. He stopped at the intersection of four large streets and looked towards the Palace in the distance. The Western Gate stood open and unattended.

"Zhao to Blue Team. I've got a plan..."

----

Gem-tinted laser fire joined the argent bolts of PPC lightning as the two forces converged at the Northern Gate. Missiles flew overhead like hornets disturbed in their nests and autocannons barked out a thundering staccato that made the Heavens' cower. The Blue Team Jade Falcon, one Star Colonel Avisten Pryde, ran his Dire Wolf into the thick of the Red Team's battle line, blasting away with everything at his disposal. Further away, a mercenary commander named Strider Hall, stroked the triggers of his blue-tinged Victor Assault 'Mech, launching melon-sized Gauss slugs into the cockpit of a Red Team Black Knight, smoothly decapitating it.

"Star Captain Tokasha Osis to Sang-wei Zhao Zheng, we have these surats bottled up. Go now. Complete the mission while we teach these vile freebirths a thing or two." The Smoke Jaguar's Mad Cat fired away with all of its payload in an awesome Alpha Strike that devoured a Red Team Bushwacker.

Zhao charged his Hunchback through the Western Gate, already targeting the first objective. His squeezed the trigger beneath his middle finger, firing the 4 ER Medium Lasers mounted on the 'back's forearms. The Fuel Processing Plant exploded with such force that the 50-ton 'Mech staggered a step. Across Zhao's HUD a message quickly appeared: "Destroy Fuel Processing Plant 1/1". Below it, three more messages appeared.

Destroy Turret Control Tower: 0/2
Destroy Enemy Repair Bay: 0/2
Destroy Davion Palace: 0/1

"PUNCHING OUT!"

Zhao torso-twisted in time to see Avisten's Daishi gut itself in a nuclear conflagration, the golden fireball tearing up through the cockpit and chasing Pryde's ejection pod. The Clanner didn't make it. The explosion did have the secondary effect of knocking a Red Team [Fafnir] on its blocky butt, shearing armor off its backside.

Returning to his mission, Zhao quickly located the first of the Repair Bays. The structure bore the insignia of the hated Federated Commonwealth, so Zhao saved himself some ammo and simply kicked the structure in on itself. "Yong yùan, Liao Sun-Tzí."

"Zhao! They're launching a mass break-out! Looks like you've got about two minutes to finish the job! Blue Team..." Strider Hall's transmission suddenly cut out as another explosion rocked the battlefield. Zhao glimpsed the burning form of the Victor through a break in the clustered formations. Another explosion echoed it as the Leutnant-Colonel's Hauptmann exploded itself all over the field, the Colonel's ammunition simply cooking itself off under the intense heat.

The Sang-wei trudged the 'Mech on up the hill, locking his Streak SRM-6s on the first Turret Control Tower. The missiles shot forth from his torso-mounted launcher, destroying the foundation and causing the tower to collapse in on itself. Before Zhao could continue on, a whiplike PPC bolt lashed out across his left shoulder, the ion saturated strike momentarily disrupting his instruments. A quick glance at his rear monitor showed three Red Assault 'Mechs charging back into the Palace Grounds, all of them firing wildly at him. "So Reds, you wish to dance with The Defiler, huh? Very well then." Zhao had only recently learned of his nickname, bestowed upon him by his own Company after the assault on Tikonov a few months back.

Ignoring the Reds, Zhao throttled up to full speed, triggering the massive LB-10X Autocannon on his right shoulder. The AC splattered rounds into the broadside of another Repair Bay, shattering support beams. The structure groaned loud enough for Zhao to hear it inside his cockpit, then unceremoniously collapsed in a massive blast of dust. The Hunchback pitched forward wildly as the Reds blasted his backside with everything they had. A piercing shriek accompanied the lurch as the 'Mech's left arm blew off at the shoulder, whirling past Zhao's cockpit. Zhao crossed to the otherside of the hill, giving him a moment of respite from the assault. He lined up a shot and destroyed the last Turret Control Tower. All around the Base, the massive Calliope Towers sagged into themselves as they lost power.

"Zhao to all Blues! The defenses are broken! Go for the Palace! Go! Go! Go!"

Zhao turned his 'Mech towards the location of the Davion Palace, placing his already damaged left side towards the hilltop. Better they not be able to knock out his other weapons now at the moment of triumph.

"Sang-wei, this is Captain Marsh..Reds..us..pinned...two..us..left. ...luck..you. Make..'em pay."

Baring down on the Palace, a cold rage welled up within Zhao. So many Blues had died today and even more would die if this facility remained standing. He reached up and disabled his Safety Mechanism. In the event of a catastrophic failure of his 'Mech's fusion plant containment, the dampening fields would not be employed. Instead, the 'Mech became a walking nuclear explosive. Firing his weapons as fast as they could cycle, Zhao kept his eyes locked on his "Battle Damage Assessment", watching the Palace's structural integrity fall rapidly. He toggled the Open Channel, broadcasting to the Reds.

"The First Duty of a Capellan Citizen is Defending the Confederation. Second is Loyalty. You will not stop me! I will NOT fail!"

Just as the Structural Integrity fell to 10%, a massive shadow fell across Zhao's canopy. The Capellan looked up in time to see Captain Marsh's Azure-colored Gladiator descending on pillars of Jump Jet fire. Right onto Zhao!

"MARSH! NO!"

The right foot of the Assault 'Mech crashed into Zhao's shoulder, forcing the 'Mech downward. Screams of protest echoed up through the Hunchback as its myomer musculature finally gave out, it's legs telescoping up into the 'Mech's chest cavity. As the 'Mech began falling backwards, the Emergency Ejection Systems engaged. Explosive bolts ripped away from the canopy and Zhao was blasted free of his dying 'Mech. The explosion chased Zhao into the sky, but he was more focused on Marsh's Gladiator. The Assault Omni was trying to force itself back onto its feet, struggling under a furious assault from the remaining Reds. As the Ejection Seat began descending on its parafoil did Zhao watch the battle come to an end. One of the Reds, a massive Daishi, similar to Pryde's similar strode up to Marsh's 'Mech and kicked her cockpit in. She never had a chance to punch out.

Zhao hit the ground roughly, breaking his left arm on impact. Quickly removing himself from the restraining straps, he got to his feet and looked back at the burning battlefield. Pulling out his communicator, he radioed the DropShips. "Zhao requesting extraction. Inform Blue Command of mission failure, but tell them..I'm coming back."

You said to make it dramatic Syf!

And for the record, we replayed the scenario again, this time claiming victory. Of the players on Blue Team, I usually teamed up with Avisten, Osis, Hall, and Jacob when noone from my 33rd Sentence was online.

Blue Team starts at a disadvantage on the Palace Grounds map, starting out in the open whereas Red Team is secured behind massive walls topped with Automated Turrets. The objectives for Blue Team were as stated above. Red Team however can secure victory by {Destroying All Enemy 'Mechs} or {Protecting Objectives Until Time Limit Is Up}. Next post I make in this thread won't be this drawn out, but this is one story that required a narrative approach.

Worst moments lt's see...

Game: Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War
Difficulty: Ace
Aircraft used: F-15E Strike Eagle
Wingman Count: 1

It was mission 3 of the campaign. Our squadron was assigned to take out some enemy patrols on Area B7R (mostly composed of 40 year old MiG-21's). We engagaed them and everything went according to plan. Pretty easy job I'd say. The MiG's never knew what hit them. :D

When the patrols were all destroyed. reinforcements came. The enemy called themselves the Indigo Fighter Squadron. They flew 4 JAS-39 Gripens and **** (Does it hold back water?) they were good.

I started playing around with them, doing split-s', barrell rolls, etc. But it was real difficult to keep up with their speed. Their planes were far lighter and maneuvarable than my F-15. I mangaed to take out 2 of them though. The other two regrouped. They attacked me from behind. I barely evaded their gunfire, but since I was too busy looking at my rear. I didnt notice my altitude meter. When I had finally evaded the gunfire. I looked at the front. A mountain face was directly ahead.

BOOM! My F-15 went up in smoke. Mission Failed :lol2:

Another new one: the Ironman game... i spent about 15 minutes beating on this helicopter, blasting it, punching it, and then colliding with it at full speed. and then my housemate goes "are you actually damaging it at all?"

the answer:

no.

For anyone who has recently started playing Ironman, when fighting the helicopter, you have to catch the missiles it fires at you, and throw them back. Frakk.

Anyways C&C works in my new PC, completed all missions in Generals and Zero Hour so i guess its time to come up with a new story . Ill dig around and try to remember one that really annoyed me, Quite afew games have had me throwing controls off walls but trying to pick the most annoying :silence:

My worst gaming moments are rather recently: My computer have a habit of freezing on worst thinkable moment, like an hour or two out in a mission there the game only allows saves between missions...

My computer is now out to repair, so I'm on my laptop instead now.

Have AC 4, 5 and 0 :) . Completed all of them with all fighter jets unlocked

Falken is a great jet but i like the Morgan better, more of a jet feel with a nice payload :D . Falken is brilliant if you want to finish the last mission ASAP ( As in under a miniute )

Anyways, Worst moment i can think of so far

Need for Speed Most Wanted

I was on Blacklist 5 with the Mazda RX7 . I had used that car for 7-9 Blacklist drivers and fully upgraded it, the races where getting harder with the small engine but it could out turn any NPC car, so i used afew shortcuts . Anyways on BL 5 i just couldnt beat him no matter what i did, he was too fast and no matter how many shortcuts i took i couldnt loose him ! . This went on for a few months with the PS2 controler impacting the wall alot . I just couldnt understand how he was beating my fully upgraded car so easily

Then one day i desided i would invest in a new car, mainly because i was tired of the RX-7 and wanted to see what other cars could do . So down to the showroom, i saw quite afew nice cars but one caught my attention . Porche 911 Turbo  . I desided that since ive never brought a porche before i would see how it did, bought and fully upgraded it ( Had plenty of cash from all those races, only used it to upgrade afterall ) . Took it out and went pig hunting ( Looking for cops , didnt take me long to find afew after a few Hit and runs ) . That car out performed the Mazda at every turn . Over 100 MPH faster and similar control, didnt take me long to get used to it

With that car the Blacklist racer wasnt a problem anymore, he couldnt keep up with me ! . Used that car until the end and used it in the final race ( Had a supercar ready but i couldnt control it very well, used in Cop Persuits from now on ! ) . Months of the controler hitting the wall and the PS2 getting punched

Btw if you havent guessed then i have a habit of punching things when i get angery  . Also both controler and console still work :Y

Oh i can think of one that happened to me yesterday.

i was playing Babylon 5 Armada II. i was the Earth Alliance, Fighting the Minbari.

now here is what i did. i was playing on unlimited recourses. (because the AI is extremely hard with unlimited recourses.) they were on Easy AI, with a 10 minute ceasefire.

so I'm building up a huge fleet of Hyperion, Nova, Omega, and Warlock Class ships. i have 3 Babylon 4 stations built. almost 50 turrets. and hundreds of Black Omega Starfurries. and the Minbari attack. and they attack hard. with a fleet bigger and more powerful then ever. they quickly blow through my defenses. destroying every turret and fighter in 30 seconds. all 3 of the Babylon 4's in a minute, and all of my ships in a minute and a half.

i had given myself every advantage i could think of. and i STILL lost.

needless to say. i was done playing for a while.

maybe I remeber some really old things but....

I remeber playing the original PONG game ... Which back then was command script vs command script via servers on kermit lines...
I accidently sent a server reboot code instead of a pong move x,y to position command... :( I saddly lost that game and was banded by a few memebers from playing for a week.. I was only 8yrs old then...

My absolute worst gaming moment would have to be an online battle a couple of years back. It started off a 2v2, but the guy on my team quit about 10 mins in. I was Romulans, and both of my opponents were the Klingons.

With a skilled player in 1v1 the klingons will annihilate the romulans in ship to ship combat, so I didn't rate my chances at 2v1. Thinking sneakily I build the phoenix facility and a phoinix intending to blow away their fleet before it got to me.

I grabbed the first phoenix out of the facility, and immediately hit the button intending to cloak it. That's when I discovered that the button I had thought was the "cloak" button was the detonator, and I blew away half of my base. That was a serious hair pulling moment.

Funnily enough, I did still win the battle though.

Took it out and went pig hunting ( Looking for cops , didnt take me long to find afew after a few Hit and runs ) . That car out performed the Mazda at every turn . Over 100 MPH faster and similar control, didnt take me long to get used to it

With that car the Blacklist racer wasnt a problem anymore, he couldnt keep up with me ! . Used that car until the end and used it in the final race ( Had a supercar ready but i couldnt control it very well, used in Cop Persuits from now on ! ) .

Funny that... I had EXACTLY the same issue in the same place on that one lol.
Think I settled it the same way too. And then repeated it on Carbon, for my first boss battle in the last territory...

Oh dear, I've had several similar experiences with Ace Combat: The Unsung War, you're in your overly large fighter and of course the computer has to one up you and use something lighter, faster, more maneuverable and more heavily armed...

But I digress... I play Counter Strike Source, and while I am frequently frustrated with the game there is one moment in particular that stands out a lot...

The map we were on was de_dust2, a bomb defuse map where you're either trying to plant the bomb (terrorist) or trying to stop it from being planed and defuse it if it was planted (counter-terrorist). I was playing as a terrorist this time around, I usually do this map, I find it harder to win and thus much more fun when we do. Teams were 8 versus 8, first 30 seconds all but myself and one of my teammates are wiped out, he has an AK47, I have an AWP. Due to some amazing speakers if I'm sneaking in-game I can hear anyone and everyone around me. I was heading through a set of doors when I heard someone coming up behind me, I crouched on the other side of the doorway and killed him with one shot, went through the opposite doorway where my last teammate just had gotten killed and counter-sniped the guy waiting for me. 2 down, 6 to go. Next I got really lucky with a grenade that I had tossed into one of the bomb sites, triple kill, 5 down 3 to go. I plant the bomb and wait to pick off the others that are likely coming from the other bomb site that they were guarding. One down with a head shot from the AWP, another down with a flash then a few Desert Eagle rounds, I turn back to the bomb site only to see an he grenade flying not really towards me at all, except it hits the very very corner of a wall and explodes in my face, and since by this time I had gotten shot a few times, it was enough to kill me, the last guy goes and defuses the bomb and I start tossing things off my desk, why is it always the last dude that camps and ruins that awesome 1337ness?

I've had similar things happen either way, just none really as memorable as that...

And for those that don't know what an AWP is... Accuracy International Arctic Warfare Police

A bit of thread necromancy here but since one of my worst gaming moments just began and continues to this very moment, I might as well chalk it down here to vent.

So the game in question is Mass Effect for the PC. Now I have been waiting for this game ever since it was first announced for the Xbox 360 as an Xbox only title...I prayed to all the gods in Olympus to port this game over to the PC (As anyone who has enjoyed RPGs such as Baldur's Gate 2 and Knights of the Old Republic can attest, Bioware makes the most awesome storylines for their games). Low and behold half a year after its release on the 360 ME gets a shiny port with all the trimmings for the PC.

So I finally receive my game (This was about 2 weeks ago) and I very oddly notice the box says internet connection required for gameplay. Naturally I'm confused, this is an SP game only so why the Internet as a requirement?

Turns out the idiots of Electronic Arts (Who bought Bioware midway through their development of Mass Effect PC version) installed a new security system to "prevent" piracy called SecuROM. Now anyone who has played Bioshock will immediately recognize this DMR system and the problems it causes, but for those who don't know let me elaborate a bit:

This system requires an internet connection so it can "validate" my CD key and register it into their servers like a branded cattle. If I don't have an internet connection to register the key, the game doesn't install at all.

Additionally the game was going to have a recurring 10 day "authentication" period where I would have to go back online so EA's servers validated my registered key and allow me to continue playing; if for some reason I lost my internet connection once I installed after 10 days my game would be unusable until I got my connection back to authenticate it. I should mention, this "security measure" was taken out at the very last moment before release, but I mention it since it was going to be part of the original package.

Furthermore, I have only 3 permissible installs. For those of us who reinstall their OS every year or so, suffer hardware crashes, or buy new computers/major hardware constantly this means that after 3 installs the game is no longer usuable for a fourth. Now I've gone through 4 different computers in the past 12 years and I've had everything from horrible crashes that were unrecoverable to constant updates of hardware or reinstalling of OS to keep my comp running smoothly. Oh sure right now they have technical support people who allow more activations given individual circumstances but what about tomorrow when there is no more Bioware or EA because they merged into something else, split up, went bankrupt or just faded into obscurity as happens with game companies? Then what?

Ok so not only so I need the internet for a non-online game, I can only install it on a fresh/upgraded computer 3 times and then that's it, I have a $52 coaster to put my Coca Cola cans on top of since that's about as much as the DVD will be worth then. Added to this, the SecuROM messes with my registry in order to keep track of my installs and that stuff, anyone who knows Bioshock can recall the whole rootkit (A Spyware program SecuROM installed) incident that installed and there are many fears about this having the same or similar malware.

Now I don't mind the game is suffering from problems and already a patch is in the works without any indication of a release date. I don't mind that they claimed the first downloadable content would be ready upon the game's release and it actually says is available on the box yet 2 weeks later no DLC or even a clue when it's coming.

What I am supremely PO'd about is this SecuROM DMR business, the internet obligation (In principle as I have one but shouldn't require one for a non-online game) and most of all the 3 limited activations which aren't mentioned anywhere in the box nor instructions and I found out about when I went to their forums in search for answers. Not to mention that the limited activation itself is a violation of the very user license agreement they create which claims I can use the product legally how many times I want and in whatever manner I choose...again legally.

Right now it's two weeks after release, I still haven't even installed the game (Partly waiting for the patch/DLC, partly because I'm so mad). So now I see a very dangerous trend here in the future of PC gaming with these draconian "security measures" and Gestapo tactics that violate my consumer rights. Why haven't I returned it for a refund? Why bother, the cat's out of the bag and if things continue this way perhaps all PC games will feature these restrictions in the near future...there are already 4-5 upcoming games which have verified containing SecuROM. Hopefully Bioware will release a revoke tool like 2k games did with Bioshock which eliminates the registration of the game from your comp thus allowing you to install the same one as if it were new again (But then it only allows this once so not a great deal here either).

And for any who were wondering if the new security system proved as a dissuader and preventer of game piracy, Mass Effect PC was successfully cracked and placed for online illegal download 17 hours after the game was released. Now it's us the legitimate customers who are really paying the price!

Sorry for the long rant, I'm just so mad. :x

About a year back while I was playing Morrowind I entered a cave pretty close to Fort Frostmoth on Solsthiem...and I get swamped and obliterated by a bunch of undead Wolves...what makes it even better is I was playing for a while, and the only save I had was the Autosave file for when I entered the cave.

..It was my digital fate to forever be in a loop of being undead Puppy Chow >.<

I bought Mass Effect the second day it was out for PC, and while the promised downloadable content was a let down since it still isn't available, based on what you said this three install crap is gonna have me wanting a refund by the end of the month. I've not had any problems with their so called security features, but that is aggravating that possession of a valid CD key isn't enough for them any more... Hope you choose to install it soon though, it's a very good game, probably the best RPG I've played except for Oblivion, and that's only because Mass Effect is very short by contrast...

I will install it soon Lord_Trekie, I'm just waiting for the patch to be released as about 50% of players have reported one kind of pesky bug or another. And the patch is until now being bundled with the free DLC so that's cool also.

Hope they eliminate the DMR totally for ME2 and ME3, I'd hate to experience this all over again. I'm dying to play the game.

Curse you EA :x

Now that you mention Oblivion I had a gameplay disaster with that game. I used to have a mod called Natural Environments which added 40 different kinds of weather, better water and even wildlife such as birds and insects. The water and wildlife worked pretty good but the weather had its share of problems: it rained so much that hardly any day had visibility and constantly the weather would suddenly change when I passed through a door or even looking at my inventory and back. So I got tired of the wild weather and decided to uninstall it after I had beaten the main quest; once I did the save would crash on loading and I had to start the game all over again. That also happened to me with another mod. Lucky for me I actually love Oblivion so I don't mind playing the MQ over and over. :D
