• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

[Help] Well hello there all!!

Some of you may or may not remember me. I used to be all over the old Armada 2 modding forums and areas waaaaaaaay back in the day. I released quite a few mods, specifically several Constitution Class models that were crazy kitbashes and enhancements.

Well i recently built a brand new computer and downloaded FleetOps and played an entire round against the Dominion. and crushed them. although i had infinite resources LOL. Anyways... I decided to bring my Personal mod over from my old computer and begin messing with it again. I am having difficulties as i am getting crashes immediately at start up as soon as i launch an instant action game.

I was able to get a Fed vs Fed to work.. just three ships per side, (Sovy, Galaxy, Akira) and i was able to go through the entire space battle, no crashes. destroyed all three enemy ships without any losses of my own...

So i decided to go against different enemies, and each race crashes at launch. And now whats worse is that even Fed vs Fed crashes and refused to load.

Im running Windows 10 Pro... FLOPS ran flawlessly, as did my first usage of my personal mod. I know that there used to be ODF checkers back in the day to search for missing quotes and such, but i cant seem to find them. I did find a utility that uses Notepad++ but when i open a file, it does not highlight anything like it says its supposed to. Should I download and install an older version, from say 2015?

I know this is a long read, but id really like to get my personal mod up and running again.. and just have some fun. Hope to hear back from someone that can offer assistance. Thanks!!!

Wow, haven't seen that name around in quite some time. Welcome back. I see in your other thread you were Lt Cmdr Worf. I didn't know you were the same person. You posted some in my mod thread over at FO.

Is your mod for stock A2? Did you install stock A2 then unzip yours on top of it? Sorry if those are rudimentary questions. Just tryna help.

what i did was a fresh install of FleetOps right from the site. Then i copied my old Personal Install to a thumb drive and dropped it into the FleetOps mod folder. The last time I used it, it worked.. I think. Its built using quite a bit of FO but only for functionality.. I replaced a lot of the models and textures, and weapons and sounds and ODFs.. Im also using the FPQ container to keep my ODFs more organized. Im testing using one race (Fed vs Fed) and one ship (Sovy vs Sovy) and it just won't load. none of the races load. Its leading me to believe that there is something more going on. There are zero quotes missing.. and I get no crash report that with an 'Out of Memory' error.

So... i went back to my old computer that I just replaced. And i loaded up my personal mod. Fed vs Cardies... and it works!!! Windows 10 Home Edition. Now what I can't understand is why the EXACT same mod, same files, same everything, refuses to load on a newer, more expensive machine.. with Windows 10 Pro the OS instead of Home.

I am in the process of copying all of the files including the actual FO installation over to a thumb drive and im going to drop it right onto my machine, and see what happens.. if it doens't load correctly.. then Ill have to figure something else out.

Hey Terra! Yeah man, its def been a while. Im trying to figure out this problem im having with getting my mod running on Windows 10 Pro. There has to be a problem with the files.. but I don't know where it is. Fleet Ops works perfect. I downloaded the STA Classic 1.2d mod.. loads perfectly.. my mod.. crashes immediately.. no matter what race I use.

So, my experiment has failed. for whatever reason, my mod just does not wanna run.. it just doesn't make any sense.. the files were identical. the only difference is that im not using a physcial disc.. as i didn't install a ROM Drive when I built my machine... (who uses those anymore) I do have an image mounted though and all other FleetOps mods load and work with no issues.. so there has to be a file or config thats messed up.. but I can't imagine what.. and the fact that NONE of the races load is mind blowing to me

I AM IN BUSINESS!!! Turns out because Ive so heavily modified my FLOPS mod ive broken compatibility with certain maps... all is well in the world now!

Try this ODF syntax highlighting made by CABAL: http://msfc.com.au/community/index.php?resources/notepad-odf-highlight-by-version.191/
I can confirm that it works with the latest version of Notepad++. Import the XML file as a User Defined Language and afterwards click its entry in the Languages menu to activate it. If you need any help setting it up or tweaking it, please don't hesitate to ask.
