Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.
Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.
We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.
Yeah, I need to play around with the material values a bit more. Especially since Stellaris has a weiiird workflow with Spec, Sorta-Metal and Gloss.Ooh, that's a cool design. I have a weakness for the Talarian ships and their wing-looking thingies.
I think the texture is perfectly fine, looks pretty good. If anything, the model is a bit too glossy and shiny considering the weathered texture.
That is a cool model of the Klingon scout shipI was given an Eaglemoss Designing Starships book recently, containing (among other things) details on the origin of the Klingon Attack Ship used by the Augments in Enterprise.
This gave me the kick needed to revisit an old untextured model I'd found and had been tinkering on years back. Took the opportunity to rebuild the geometry and try a different texturing approach to that I normally take.
Some high-quality orthogonals really helped, and the design made the normal map relatively simple.

I was going to say no to there being anything STO, but gah - the nacelles might be, yes. Which means a couple of hours to swap out...STO parts? Either way I'd swap the nacelles for Akyazi nacelles and bridge modual as the scale better i think.
Make sure you're playing the right one though. New Civilisations is mine. The Star Trek mod for stellaris is fantastic, I play it regularly
Yep that’s the one I play and I’m in the discord group too. Fantastic work and the mod is very enjoyableMake sure you're playing the right one though. New Civilisations is mine.
I have some... bad blood with the other one. From start to about 2019 I was one of the project admins, doing the species portraits, event scripting and a tonne of the 3d work. Ended up leaving due to shenanigans, and starting a new project. Would have been fine with just going separate ways, but I *kept* finding out they'd stolen my models and assets afterward.
Funniest was when they stole my Sagan class, messed up the diffuse textures and hid them in weird file locations thinking I wouldn't notice. Then when confronted they pretended they'd bought it on CG Trader for £100. Luckily the game's community managers were on point.
Similar situation with the Star Wars mod from the same group. All the people actually working on it ended up leaving and starting new (better) projects, LotOR and New Dawn. Now we're all under the "RMG" mod group.
