The eruption is far from over according to what I have found out. The volcano has gone over to spewing out massive amount of ash again, but this time the ash cloud is moving in south direction and so far only affects Great Britain outside of Iceland.
The ash cloud is also smaller than how it was in April.

Looks like I have to continue to keep an eye on the situation.

PS.: The air here now is rather clear and the temperature is about back to normal, so the affects from April is about gone from here.

Normal?? Its snowing here in Oslo!! In MAY!!

Almost normal, not completely normal. Yes, I know it's still colder than usual here, though I had experienced days recently with temperatures very close to what is normal this time of year. And that is why I said what I said. But it does seem the weather heard me as then I got out today, it was sleeting. :p

Yeah, It does seem to have heard you - I just got off the phone with my girlfriend (she works at Holmenkollen - Non - Norwegians should know that this is the ski jump on the hills overlooking Oslo) and she says the snow is actually sticking around on the ground up there...

I cant believe it!! I blame Island.:naughty:

Mt. Eyjafjallajokul Strikes again!

I just read a news breif sighting more airport closures as Mt. Eyjafjallajokul started spewing more ash into the air and the ash cloud is returning to Northern Europe.

Given the past history of Mt. Eyjafjallajokul, it seems like it's going to be spewing ash for some time to come. Last time it erupted was a period between 1821 to 1823... That's 2 years (or pretty close, 1 full year at the least). And to add to that, this is looking like a repeat. If so, then we might want to brace for a full duplication of it's last eruption cycle, thus, includes expecting an eruption from it's larger sister volcano. While I don't like to be seen as "negative", I do like to be prepared.

"Hope for the best but expect the worst" is usually my motto anyways. So, if your mentality is like mine, it is best to get prepared.

But what do I know... I am just saying, I would not be surprised.

As the new ash cloud has so far stayed away from Norway, I have been fairly quiet in this thread.
The ash cloud though has caused several air ports in England, Scotland and Ireland to close as the cloud has been concentrated over there.
Now on the other hand it has started to move east, towards Norway and rest of Europe.
And according to latest reports, the ash cloud will hit Norway later today, the 17th. of May.
And that is in one way ironic, that the ash cloud will hit Norway the very day many people will be out doors celebrating Norway's Constitution Day.

ouch... That will ruin your day. So is it toxic in any way, or just dangerous to fly in?

p.s.
Hey, you know what? its the 16th where I am. Never really thought about it.

The ash cloud is toxic, but it looks like according to the reports that it will be so high u pin the air that we don't have to worry unless we smell sulfur outside. So right now it would affect the air traffic more than anything else in Norway, though the situation might change. I will keep an eye on it, checking if I need to stay inside.

PS.: About that it's the 16th. there you are; Yeah, that's the timezones for you.

Ok, I guess people wondered how it went the 17th. of May due to that the ash cloud would hit Norway the same day.
Well, the ash cloud stayed mostly around the west coast before it went north, sticking to the coast. So it didn't reached there I was and all I heard it affected was a few plane routes.

Now I see on the website I have been mostly following this that the volcano is calming down for the third time since it started erupting. So who knows, maybe it's over now.
