Hello all,

This is another project I have been working on and I am nearly complete. For those of you who have been around for sometime, you are no doubt familiar with this, those that aren't your in for a treat.

The USS Midway from the Star Trek: Adventures of Midway RPG is due to be released here soon for Armada 2.

Major Payne originally made the model some years ago answering a request from me back when I was on Armada Fleet Command. However I was not at all fond on the textures. Now that I know my way around MS3D I have gone back, fixed up some mesh errors, mainly the welding of faces and have re-textured it using Aad Moreman's Sovereign and Akira textures. Also I used Aad Moreman's Akira deflector and housing rather than the original used by Major Payne. I found Aad Moreman's to not only fit the model better but also the textures (considering they were originally made for the mesh).

I still have a bit of texturing to do, I am also aware of the stretch of the textures. However it was a rather difficult mesh to re-texture and I had to compromise. I do however think the stretch is barely noticeable and in the end when you're playing with the model in-game you won't really see it.

I have also back last June, been given permission by Major Payne to re-texture and kitbash his models so the permissions are all set.

Glad the Midway GM approves. :)

Mah couldn't have, you must be seeing things. :p

You are more than welcome to as long as the mod with the ship in isn't hosted outside this site as per my usual conditions. That and providing credit are my only two real conditions. If you're okay with that then you are more than welcome to use her.

---

Well I have finished the ship, it stands at 1984, a good size especially considering it the same as the year I was born. Pretty fitting isn't it Hellkite.

Well here are some screenshots of her. She now only needs hardpoint and the usual stuff done then she'll show up in the downloads section.

Hellkite, have you tried running Armada in compatibility mode? I'm running 64-bit Vista (can't afford to upgrade to Windows 7) and running Armada in compatibility mode is the only thing that keeps me in the game.

Hope nobody minds a link to an affiliate site, but it'll explain the process:

Majestic: one small thing-- maybe you should shorten the length of the dorsal saucer phaser strips aftwards because they seem to be running into (or rather under) the nacelle supports. Other than that, she looks, well.... majestic. :)

Have u tried DOCaColas patch project 1.2.5 for A2? Cuz that may or may not help.

@Majestic

The Midway Class looks great considering the textures ur kinda stuck with working with. The textures are not bad it just be better if they fit lil better to the mesh but you still made a pretty ship. Though I do think the nacelles are kinda "bland" and maybe slightly oversized in width maybe......But hey nice looking model regardless.

I plan on working on the nacelles a bit more, giving them added detail as I too think they are a little bland.

As for the phaser strips, the only way I could do as you requested/suggested TSK, is to either edited the texture, which I was trying to avoid (due to it being the Sovereign and Akira textures) or make new textures that would make it look horrid as I can't make textures. Plus I wanted this to fit Aad Moerman's models as those are the ones I use in my TNG A2 version.

So all in all I think it was a good alternative and MAP's model looks great in Aad Moreman's textures I think. :)

Thank you all for your suggestions and opinions on this. Oh and TSK, not a problem about affiliate links. :)

All my computers are running Windows 7 and I have no luck with any of them so I have given up on A1 and A2 and move on to Sins

Hellkite, if Sins can be hardpointed with MS3D and exported and you can send me documents or links to how to do it, I would be happy to do it for you. However I have never done any Sins modding so at this current time I am clueless.

I am running Win7 myself, I do have issues with A2 myself. But I am running the 32 bit rather than the 64 bit.

I run 64 bit Win 7, and I can't run stock A2, but I can run Fleet Ops, give the patch project a try mate, it might help you run it.

I actually have the game, just not the entrenchment expansion. ;)

Kind of can't afford it with all the expenses coming up with bills, being forced to move, the wedding etc.

That's an awesome ship, Majestic!
You made some very good improvements. Only additional thing I would do is to darken the textures a bit. It makes the ship look a bit more aggressive.

Do you also release the .ms3d file for it?

Like I said in the staff room, many thanks Hellkite, it will benefit the site greatly. Just that bit closer to affording an upgrade to the site or towards paying for another year when that time comes around. :)

I don't release the MS3D, but if someone PM's me and requests it I have no issues sending it to them via email. ;)

Hello all, I haven't forgotten about this ship, it's still on my to-do list. I plan to see about adding a little bit of texture detail to the nacelles so they aren't as bland. I am also going to release it along side another ship that I am doing. A kind of sister ship.

You see I am still working on various projects and in one, is a complete redo of stock, replacing the ships with updated models. I also plan to have more than the one hero unit, built from shipyards and thanks to the 1.2.5 patch only one at a time can be built.

The reason I am babbling on a bit is due to the Federation having not only the USS Enterprise-E but also a visitor from a Parallel Universe the USS Midway and a visitor from the future.

It still has a great deal of work such as texturing for starters and some minor mesh work.

One thing I never liked much about the Premonition is the nacelles. Perhaps a new design is in order?

Well I am planing on doing some alterations on them, mainly to do with the bussard collectors. Other than that I am not sure, I'll guess I'll change things as I go along to suit my tastes.

But I really am not a fan of the Bussard collectors hence my intention on changing them a bit.

I have finally got the Midway in game, she still has a little bit of work, mainly getting the Akira and Sovereign textures to match up a little bit better and some more texture detailing on the nacelles.

However here she is in her current glory alongside the Akira and Sovereign.

Okay I have reworked the nacelles giving them more detail. I am now working on giving her new weapons unique to her, being that she is a prototype of experimental technology including quantum slipstream.

Since a picture is worth a 1000 words:

Very nice, I love the design.

One think that might be improved, if you are open for C&C:sweat: I think the Buzzard colectors should be a wee-bit bigger. that or the boxes around them smaller, but personally, I like their size. just my opinion. I really like their design too.

Love how this is shaping up:shock:
