About 10 minutes ago The US east coast, particlary Virgina, was hit by a 6.0 earthquake. No reports of damage or death. I have friends and family who work at the pentagon, which was evacuated along with the capital building, but as far as I know they are ok. I know hellkite is in virgina as well so I"m sure he felt it along with myself.

The quake lasted around 30 seconds for me. Though this is a rare occurrence, I used to live in California, so it isn't a huge deal, but I pray everyone else is doing as well as I am.

We felt it all the way on Long Island - first time I've ever experienced an earthquake. I hope everyone's alright, though from what I hear there hasn't been a lot of damage.

Yeah, 5.9(as it is now classified) isn't huge, but it is extremely rare on the east coast. I doubt much damage was done, but I figured I would post about it just to inform everyone and make sure everyone affected was ok.

That's good to know.:) I was sitting on a couch so I was kinda suspended as I watched the rest of my house shake back and fourth. I had many a thing fall off the walls, but nothing serious.

I was really only worried because I live near a Nuclear reactor and you never know with that much shaking what it could be. And who would think it was an earthquake? very strange...

I think they may have downgraded it back to a 5.8 also but I"m not sure.

Yeah, that was an interesting feeling. Our house shook a bit, nothing too serious. I thought it was just me until my little brother asked if it felt like the house was shaking.

Yeah, this was the first time an earthquake of this magnitude has happened here in 200 years(or so they say) so it is quite a strange and alarming circumstance. Panic is a little overboard here, even though it certainly is alarming, not panic worthy...

Hello:
I also knew about that quake, well, like for Adm_Z quakes of that magnitude happen often, but I can imagine it can be very bad for people not used to this kind of events.

I am glad damage is not bad and all that is neded is that people to begin knowing more about quakes so they can be prepared should another one strike in the near future in that region.
