Ubisoft and Lucasfilm Games are teaming up to develop an open world Star Wars game. You can ready about it here.

As a fan of the Assassin's Creed franchise, I always thought this would be a good idea. Looks like I'll be able to find out now.

Hello:
I think that would be quite a challenge, because of the many worlds that galaxy has to offer, so maybe the bet bet would be Coruscant?

I'm excited to see what form this will take. Also, as with Chiletrek, I'm curious about how they'll pull this off.

Hello:
Why do you think that, Lord Hellkite?

It means that EA lost the Star wars license and they are the ones that made Star Wars : Squadrons

Probably because Squadrons was pretty much EA's last chance under their exclusive contract with Lucas/Disney. EA has consistently pissed fans off with their shady practices. Some even argues that EA has ruined almost every Star Wars game they made.

Hello:
I don't know, maybe I've misread, but I thought EA will only lose the exclusivity to make Star Wars games.

It sounds like under the new Lucasfilm Games banner, they've opened things up to multiple studios for game development. EA will still be involved from what I've been able to tell. And I've heard rumors about more coming updates to Squadrons. I really need to finish the campaign.

As a side note, the Alphabet Squadron novels are great. Just finished the first and started the second one today.

The only problem I see with this is that its Massive Entertainment that is developing said game.. They are responsible for Tom Clancy's The Division and The Division 2. Im worried about this game already. Because Massive has proven time and time again that they can't/won't listen to their player base and insist on making changes to their games that are not what the players want.. They also have a difficult time in balancing the different aspects of the game against each other..

But I shall keep an open mind and wait until actual information comes out.. we won't really know anything until closer to 2022/2023

On the one hand, I'm excited that EA is losing their exclusivity the instant their contract expires. On the other hand, Ubisoft's open world games are rather samey.

I bought the first of the Division games, but I never actually played it. Which is actually true for about half the games I buy, depressingly enough.

After Episode I Racer got ported to the Switch, I'm hoping for the same to happen with Shadows of the Empire and the original Rogue Squadron.
