Not exactly Who-related but still of interest to Doctor Who fans. On the weekend BBC7 started broadcasting The Scarifyers, a supernatural audio series which had already been released on audio in the UK.
It takes place in 1936 when two investigators Detective Inspector Lionheart and Professor Edward Dunning investigates supernatural occurences. It stars Doctor Who veterans Nicholas Courtney (the Brigadier; in the Scarifyers he plays Lionheart) and Terry Molloy (third actor to play Dalek creator Davros; in Scarifyers he plays Dunning).
The 1977 Doctor Who serial Talons of Weng-Chiang which took place in Victorian England features the characters of Henry Gordon Jago and Professor Litefoot. At the time it was proposed, but never developed, of a spin-off series featuring those two characters.
In her review of the Scarifyers upon its audio release, Vanessa Bishop from Doctor Who Magazine speculated that if the Jago-Litefoot series been made it would have looked like the Scarifyers.
The opening episode of the first story The Nazad Conspiracy is available here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbc7/listenagain/saturday/ and you can find it in the schedule for 1800 to 1830. It is available until the weekend before
the next episode starts.
The Nazad Conspiracy Part 1:
A very interesting start to the story both Courtney and Molloy performs well in their characters. A lot of intrigues along the way and the cliffhanger at the hand makes you want to know what is going to happen next in the story.
