Okay, we all have a favourite faction, putting side the amount of content, ships and pretty much everything the Feddies have over the Empire, which faction do you enjoy playing the most?

I am curious to see what the majority of us MSFC STO players prefer. Please remember to only take into consideration the enjoyment rather than content as it would be unfair to place more missions, ships etc, as the Feddies have like 4 times the content of the Klingon due to the Fan-Boy Development team.

When I first started playing, the answer would have easily been the Federation. Not just because of the content issues but that the experience wasn't there. All of my friends were Fed as well. The KDF was still a primarily PvP "horde". Now, I have to say that I really do enjoy the KDF more. Part of it has to do with more fiends on that side but, they have added to the experience. If you are not aware, you can actually assault Federation shipping lanes. We should team up and give it a go.

I had to vote Federation, simply because there is more content out there, and I like their ships better, however, the klingon surely has better missions. They should make it so you can choose at the beginning to go fed or klinker, and then from whichever side you choose, you must reach rank 20 before starting another.

Um I did say not to take content into consideration as it is an unfair way to vote considering the Federation has more and the KDF originally was only meant to be a PvP faction rather than a faction with missions and other PvE content. I would recommend you re-vote based on what I asked.

KDF is the far better, more enjoyable side in my opinion, they may not have as much content or missions as the Federation but it is more fun than the Federation side, in fact, I barely touch my Fed characters anymore, even when doing STF's I much prefer using my Orion's than my Vulcan or Betazoid!!

I'm actually at the point now where I am considering deleting a large portion of my federation characters and remaking them as KDF!

Actually from what I understand this was the way it was until it became f2p then they changed it so you had to be level 25 before choosing KDF.

Well, though I like my klinker, I think Feds are more my style. It is hard to say since both my characters are not the same rank, and most of the klingon missions I am not playing for the first time. I think I will stick with my vote, though I believe that both have their merits, I usually enjoy playing as a Fed rather than a klingon.

TBH though, besides their content, the factions are exactly the same. Im not sure how to judge my enjoyment on anything other than content. Sure I love my kitty, but he is a ground player, and space combat is my thing....and the red UI hurts my eyes.

I'm sorry but I think that the Klingons have it better. Good drinks, better weapons, and better outfits for the females.

This is only partially correct. You had to have your Fed character at level 10 or 12 before unlocking the Klingon side. With the acquisition of Cryptic by PWE, there was promise to expand the KDF side to give them a tutorial mission and open it up to where you could chose from the beginning. That has since changed. The reason you start the KDF side at Commander now is because when we started a new Klingon character from Lieutenant, it was a massive grind to max out.

It's a shame they couldn't update the lower level ships to the higher levels to give KDF players more choices with each rank in the way of variants and kitbashes.

Ya know, considering the alternatives, the Klingons are not really that bad. Yes their options are limited and they have fewer ships and missions than the Feds. But a few things occurred to me while reading the posts previous to this one.

1) This game is very Federation and StarFleet centered, just like the films and the series are.

2) This game is still very much a W.I.P. The dev team is feeling their way and making sure they get it right rather than just release stuff willy nilly. Add this to your typical Star Trek Fan being very very knowledgeable about pretty much everything and equally vociferous about mistakes and it becomes plain they want to get it right rather than release something and then do a makeover on the fly.

3) Despite the concerns people have about being KDF, some of which are quite legitimate, it is still a blast to play as a Klingon and continues to be so day after day.

4) It appears this game is going to be around for a very long time yet. I am willing to be patient if the follow on Klingon stuff is just as good as what we have right now. And the learning curve can only get shallower as the team begins to flesh out the other races players want.
