Hey guys! I have a question about how to do something specific in either Adobe Photoshop or Corel Paint Shop. Here is the bit I'm working with right now:

Window%2520Bulge%2520Problem.jpg

This piece will be mapped onto the side of a torus. When trying to do so as it is now, the windows on the sides don't look right. What I'm wanting to do is distort the windows layer so it conforms to the gray area underneath it (essentially both layers would have the same shape). However, I'm not sure how to do this in either Photoshop or Paint Shop. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!

Why don't the windows look right? Also, it is a lot easier to work with mapping coordinates rather than trying to distort the underlying texture. Are you mapping this in Milkshape? If so, there's the problem :p

However, to attempt to answer your question, the transform you are looking for should be in the distortions. Should be something like "bulge", but on only one axis.. Not sure what it might be.

Can't argue with you there it's terrible, I model in MS3D and map in Ultimate Unwrap 3D. It isn't perfect but does a hell of a better job than MS3D. :lol2:

I do most of my mapping in SketchUp, but I found something that worked

It's funny. Everyone always says that about Milkshape, and yet I always found it pretty easy once you got the hang of it. I guess I've never tried any other way of mapping textures so cant really compare it with anything

Same here. I can't even handle Ultimate Unwrap properly but I still manage pretty nicely with MS3D. Of course once you're used to it, you start to create your textures keeping the limitation of your favorite program in mind. :)

Hello:
I most agree with Avon and K_Merse, as one gets to be able to do all the needed mapping with the programs you have in hand, and also I cannot compare with other programs so I manage with what I have, hehehe.

Good luck dvatreknerd314, because Fed ships are indeed hard to map due to all the round shapes and million of windows.
