• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

The reason for that we don't allow curses/swearing is that this is a family site. Thus not even trying to work around the censoring with using signs is accepted. And that is why I had to star out your swearword.

Back to the issue at hand: Yeah, that's very sick. I read that she would be prohibited to own animals for three years only but I hope they rethink that and make it permanently that she can't have animals ever again.

Yeah that is kind of sick, indeed.

But you do not torture a human being for killing a cat. According to the article she has been on trial not only for this but also for burglary.

Apparently she and a boyfriend held a man at gunpoint to steal his I-Pod as well as shotting at a dog with a BB-gun.
I think that this young woman does not need any criminal punishment for the killing of a cat, but therapy and a month of 24h-shifts with the local paramedic unit. That'll get her back on track.

Unfortunately the article does not give any background on the girl. The girl is judged by the public mob, not by what should be really done.
People don't care if a foreigner is beaten to death, but when a cat is killed?
Jesus, I gotta get off this planet.

I think the public reaction is deserved - it is not the crime that is judged, but the level of callus cruelty that was displayed... the cat had no chance of defending itself and also no way to comprehend that its life was taken (in one of the most painful ways immaginable I might add) for no other reason than she was angry with the cats owner.

But Im sorry - what? "I think that this young woman does not need any criminal punishment for the killing of a cat"

Why? I dont mean to be rude or abbrasive, but I am a cat lover (no, not that way:p) and I cannot comprehnd why you would have that opinion. Of course she deserved criminal punishment - and therapy. Also, Im almost 99% certain that most people would not want medical attention from someone who is capable of such an act. It really gets my goat when people say that offenders need therapy (I agree with this to a certain extent - but I say they need punishment more).

And since when do people not care when a foreigner is beaten to death? what kind of people do you refer to? Im really sorry - I just dont agree with you point of view - and I was moved enough to tell you so. I do believe that your opinion is as valid as mine - I just dont agree.

I apologize, and just ask any over at FF i NEVER curse..first time i came close.
And i understand why the rules are placed and respect that but sometimes...you wanna just forget 'em. Don't worry im not about to make a habit of this.

...I have to Agree sith DinoJR on this, by all means this public reaction is well deserved. Not beacuse its a cat but simply because two human being could put an animal, a living animal in a oven and let it die just to get revenge on an old former roomate/lover. Then turn around and show no remorse, that is was truely causes the level of anger in the public response. As for the human killing human...unfortunatly some countries (US included) have laws protecting others from punsihment despite their crime. In the past it was fine for a U.S citizen to go to a middle eastern country like Iran and kill a person without fearing punishment, they would just be sent on their way.Again we lived in a muffed up society. As for the planet thing trust me i'll be the next one in line. :worship:
