Thanks for the update mate, seems my main KDF characters will be getting new uniforms as they have gotten the Bortas uniforms previously.

There is always a catch.

When is the cut off date for this? I going to be getting rather busy in the coming weeks, starting an online course and have quite a few Sydney trips coming up.

There is no cutoff. If you already own the current uniforms, you will get the new one. I will need to check on something on tribble though. One of my fed characters have the Odyssey. if the new uniforms will be 1/2 and 1/3 the cost, it would only seem right that we get both/all three new uniforms. Otherwise, we are being ripped off. Though there really wouldn't be anything new about that would there?

Thanks mate, I might look at trying to log on for a couple of hours this weekend. See if Kevaas has been kicked from that big fleet yet and see where my characters are and what is new.

No it wouldn't be, Cryptic/PWE likes us to grind for even the smallest thing these days, probably a reason a lot of players take breaks regularly or have stopped playing altogether. I'll be back at some point, no doubt there however the changes to the rep system have destroyed my interest in doing those, and with that gone there isn't a great deal left in the game for me to do as new missions are a rarity these days. When I do return foundry missions will probably be the only thing that will keep me interested.

Season 9.5 launches in about 7 hrs. There was not an official announcement, just the usual release notes which you can read here. It is kinda unusual for Cryptic to launch even a half season in this manner.

The most intriguing part of the release notes to me is that they are adding dilithium rewards to the Romulan, Nukara, and Defera battle zones.

It's to make up for the loss with the exploration missions

The dilithium from the exploration missions wasn't really worth it in my opinion. You could get far more from doing far less with other content.

I'm guessing there were lots of bugs and that's why they're patching at midnight?

They always patch after a season release, usually the first week is plagued by patches sometimes on a daily basis depending on how many bugs and how bad the bugs are.

I also agree with SFF about the Dilithium, I could gain enough dilithium in 8 hours to cap my character for close to a week. But it's nice to see they are offering more dilithium for other content which means you don't have to go hunt for it if you don't want too.

They have launched with season 9.5 the Xindi Lock Box. In it contains Xindi Aquatic dreadnaught carrier, Xindi doffs, a Xindi Reptillian boff, and or Xindi weapons. In the Lobi store you can get the Xindi Reptillian escort and two different Xindi clothing.

I was wondering how long until they did a Xindi lockbox, thanks for letting us know.

No problem. I am very interested in the Xindi stuff for Slaas. One of the uniforms is the Xindi Reptillian uniform.

That would work well for the Gorn General. :D I am always interested in uniforms as you may be aware, it's just a shame more c-store or free ones that are more faction related aren't produced.

My plan for General Slaas is to eventually remove all mammalian bridge officers from my ship. :lol2:

Lmao, sounds like many are getting the sack though from a ship attached to the Empire that is an understatement.

With the addition of dilithium to the battle zones, Defera has turned into quite the farm. You earn dilithium, fleet marks, and omega marks for each mission you do. Dilithium breaks down as such: 160 for easy, 224 for medium, and 320 for hards.

Also, I can confirm that if you previously bought the Odyssey or Bortasq uniforms, you get all of the new varients for free, you just have to go to the fleet base and claim them.

It's good to hear Defera has picked up, I remember how hard it was to get teams there back a while ago and during the Mirror Event is was near impossible. At least for the KDF.

Ah thanks, I seriously at some point need to update my game and get back on. Though I will be looking at reformatting my PC next weekend so it will probably be after that.

I would love to team up and do all of the missions. The mediums are doable solo but are difficult. Would be a great help with the KDF fleet though it seems that dilithium is what is needed most.

Yeah I have been taking a break from all things gaming lately, just been focusing on my modeling and modding.

I do plan to get back into STO a little bay a day a week or something. It all depends on the PC, I am having issues with it currently, reason why I am doing a reformat next weekend to see if it just needs a fresh install. Hopefully that is all it is, though it is pretty aged and Kat and I are both way overdue for upgrades, probably 2 years overdue to be honest.

I do plan to get back to playing STO, though I think from now on I will only focus on my 2 KDF characters, my Romulan and Federation characters (Neartra and Josara) will probably just sit there for now.

Yeah, the game is getting more difficult to alt anymore. I have been focusing more on Natan (Fed) and Tvess (Rom-KDF). I will get back to Slaas eventually.

Yeah, the game is getting more difficult to alt anymore.

Yeah that has been one of my issues with the game, while the sponsor token for personal rep projects was a step in the right direction it is still a lot of work to run more than 1 or 2 characters through the game unless you want to make it like a full time job and most people don't have the time, energy or interest to do that.

That being said the recent changes to the rep system is what I think finally drove me from the game. I used to find that 90% of the items in the rep systems to not be of an interest to me and so I did it because of the traits, now only being able to use so many at a time I have found that all the work to so a rep for a trait that I might not use or only use a small fraction of the time means that doing that content isn't worth my time. Which has had the effect of me even not logging in anymore.

I suppose in a small way I can thank Cryptic, not only has that allowed me to devote more time to other things but due to their bad game design concepts it has motivated me in a small way to do the game design course, very few games hold my interest anymore, Bungie is one of the few companies that I know when they produce something it's going to be good.

Still after I figure out the PC issues next weekend I'll try to log on and have a game with you on my KDF characters. Might play the two new missions that I haven't played as well. :)

I understand your issue. I still play the game for one specific reason: Entertainment. I still enjoy the game and as I don't PvP nor am I a min/max type of player, it doesn't affect me that much. I do understand why Cryptic limited how many traits you can use at a time but, the way they went about doing it could have been better. Sad thing is, most of the players on the forums have already stated that if the current system was the way the rep was initially done, it would not be an issue. It was a nice compromise though that they allow you to change the traits you use without having to respec all of the time.

I look forward to gaming with friends again. So many players now days just ignore the social aspect of the game and just team up because they have to. It is hard to make friends that way. I have been thinking of cleaning up my computer too. The one thing that is holding me back is having STO, Neverwinter, and SW:TOR on my machine. I just don't want to have to redownload all of them. :lol2:

Indeed a lot of features and a lot of things they introduce are really last minute ideas, they seem to lack direction and long-term goals which isn't good for a game design company. Lucky for them hey have the Trek name plastered on it.

I find that an issue too in STO, I think a lot of that stems from the fact you don't need to team up to do the missions as you level up. SO people are ill-prepared to work as a team when all the late/end-game content more often than not requires you to team up. Many players don't even look for much less join a fleet until they are lvl 50.

STO is on my second data drive. I save so little on C drive only the bare essentials and programs that I have to install anyway when I reformat. I also back-up stuff like photoshop gradients, styles, fonts, gamedata to my data drive so I often loose very little to nothing. Due to a couple of years ago when I had a failing c drive I found myself having to reformat like very 2 weeks and so had the process down to about 3 hours where I could get my system back up to where it was before the reformat. My data drive is getting pretty full though I think it needs a clean up and I need to get a second one soon. That could also be part of the cause as my swap file is on that drive.

The main reason I'm getting on STO these days is as a creative outlet as I'm working on Foundry content. I loved having the first contact missions, not because they were entertaining, but gave me more material to use for fan fiction. Now I'm making stuff like that myself.

That is good to hear. When you get one done we can start a thread here to advertise our foundry work and give constructive criticism to the authors. I plan on dabbling with foundry soon as well.

I swear it would be easier to make missions in STO if I could manually program basic stuff. The editor is that bad!

I used to do foundry missions too, but got bored of it, due to the limitation of the editor. I think making a 3D model, texturing it (including making the texture) and converting it to A2, is by far much much easier than the STO foundry editor.
