• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Sources for unit voices?

So I'm *nearly* ready to release a Sha'Kurian full race mod for Armada 2, but the main thing I'm missing are unit voices. I'm trying to figure out what games I can pull voice files from that won't be something obvious like Fed voices from Legacy or something along those lines.

Anyone got any ideas for games that have vocal files that I could use for this? Thanks!

Your best bet is probably another heavily modified RTS where those files would be readily available like Sins or Starcraft or homeworld, etc.

Depending on what you are after it may be possible to clip stuff from youtube videos. If you can find a website to extract the audio/video (I was going to suggest one for pulling out an mp3 but I just found it had a 404 error ) then use Audacity to trim to size.

I actually believe audacity can natively strip audio from a video. I'm not sure what file format (maybe mp4) but if you download a youtube video, audacity should be able to "open" it and you'll just get the audio.

I for one, got a lot of the voice files for my SW mod, from the SW website haha. Soundboards are amazing things... Plenty of "Yes sir!"s and "Reporting for duty!"s haha

Oh it definitely can, but I had a site that just copied audio and I found it a little easier to use.

Grab a cheap mic and a copy of audacity and call your friends and pay them with beer and pizza
