• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

    We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Another accident which happened in Australia on Friday was burns survivor Sophie Delezio being run over on a pedestrian crossing. She was only 2 when a car ran into her child care centre, and she was pinned under the car, the result being burns to over 80% of her body. She also lost both her legs and all of her fingers, as well as bad scarring and the loss of hair to one side of her head.

That was three years ago, and now she is back in hospital fighting for her life. She has multiple injuries including broken ribs, a broken jaw, bruised lungs, bleeding around one of her lungs, a broken shoulder and bruising to her head. However, doctors are confident that she will survive her injuries.

Really? That would be something that haunts you forever, seeing all those poor children hurt.

I am sure she will pull through, but I was doubtful when I heard about it. She is a fighter though, she will make it! :)

In a press conference her father actually said "I feel as if I have done something really terrible" because of the horrible things that have happened to Sophie.

it's sad the number of things that some children go through.

I can't imagine pulling a child out a wreck or rubble wondering if it might die in my arms before help can get to them. And i'm sure that's what was going through the minds of the people that saved her.

It make me think of this too.

Oh, well, at least she's alive, that's all we can hope for at the moment i guess.

That picture is so moving. Was that from September 11?

It doesn't only make you think of what the child is going through, but also the amazing work that rescue crews do everyday. They really are amazing people.

I haven't heard much about little Sophie in the past day or so, I think mainly because of the mine rescue. I hope she is getting better.

Actually no, that is from the April 19th, 1996 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, by Timothy McVeigh. Its firefighter Chris Fields and infant Baylee Almon, unfortunately Baylee died in the hospital.

She was a year and a day old and was one of the 19 children that died.

Oh no, how horrible.

But it is such a moving picture, and now that I know the background story, it makes it all the more moving, but in a sad way.

I hope that firefighter looks at is as he saved that little girl so she could live a little longer and have a better chance at surviving, rather than looking at it as her passing away.

I don't think I could be in a rescue service because of the selfish reason of what they must go through emotionally. I don't think I could handle it.
