• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Is it very easy to remove the registry from a texture? Do you have to remap the texture to the model if you do? I have two ships I want to remove it from, but have never tried it. I've seen a thread before somewhere or on another site, but can't seem to find it at the moment.

If you can find a decently large patch of blank texture, it should be fairly easy to copy a patch and paste it over the registry several times until the registry disappears. You shouldn't have to remap textures to a model if all you're doing is modifying the textures.

As long as you don't move the texture on the canvas, or mess with the model's map coordinates you'll be fine.

As for removing the registry, first duplicate the texture so you have a back-up and then use the clone tool in photoshop. It will make it easier in some instances, photo editors use it all the time and I have used it in the past for registry removal.

Alternatively what Dvanerdtrek said, find a large blank part copy and paste it and modify it to fit.

Thanks guys. I was messing with this last nite and using some of the settings/brushes and got some decent results. Is there a way to change the shape of the selection reticle to be something other than a circle?

I would like to select a rectangle patch of the hull to copy from instead of a circle and I don't see how? A circle will work, but was just wondering.

I suppose that would depend on what editor you're using. Is it Photoshop, GIMP, Paint.NET, or something else?

Right click on the circle tool on the left hand bar and there should be a square option as well.
