Yeah, I know that. But look, what would have happened if you hadn't reworked them? Only a few people would know that these ships exist, and now they're almost famous around here. I wouldn't have been able to make these pictures if you hadn't done this. The credit belongs to you for "bringing them back to the fleet."

Rightly so, very true indeed. While one person can hardpoint a ship, or model a ship or even re-texture a ship it takes quite another differently gifted person to enhance them, give them better odf files and do the fine polishing.

You also do such a nice job Thunderfoot, I actually like it when you turn something of mine into something more polished and fine tuned, it gets me excited to see what you do to them.

Well, guys. Thank you. I'm delighted(And a little embarrassed, actually) people think so highly of my small efforts. Once again, I didn't make the ships. All I did was make all the things needed to make them work in game. This is not complicated. All of it is something anyone could do. I don't really know what else to say here.

Time to revive this thread.
I made a few shots of Chiletrek's new Species 8472 ships. Awesome stuff!

Very timely Terra, it's about time that this truly alien race was done justice.

Well, TF's screenshot story has inspired me to do one, too. :D
Hope you like it.

etk1.jpg

"Captain's Log, Stardate 2261.2. The Enterprise patrols the Asteroid belt of the borderlands, trying to find the pirates who are responsible for the loss of several StarFleet ships, including the USS Montblanc. We haven't heard from them for a few days. The Montblanc, escorting the convoy, reported comm distortions, malfunctioning nav systems and something they called 'green fog' before we lost contact. This reminds some crew members of the old Earth myths about an area known as the Bermuda Triangle."

etk2.jpg

"Captain, the sensors are picking up an unusual signature. It seems to be... organic."
"Are you sure, Mr Spock? Sensor arrays are working correctly?"
"They are. This could be an unknown space-dwelling lifeform. We're too far away to identify it."
"Okay. Mr Sulu, set a new course. Let us take a look at it - whatever it is."

etk3.jpg

"Cartography? Do we have records of nebulae in this area?"
"Negative, Captain. This nebula should not be here."
"Now that is really strange. 'Green fog', huh? What do you think, Mr Spock?"
"The sensor readings indicate that it consists of organic matter."
"Let's hope it doesn't damage the ship. Mr Sulu, slow her down. We have to watch out."

etk4.jpg

"Good God, WHAT IS THAT?"
"Definitely biological, but I can't say much more. The sensors can't scan anything inside it. The armour seems to be scan-resistant."
"Let's hope it's friendly."
"... it's charging up, Captain!"
"****! Brace for impact!"

etk5.jpg

"Shields down, Captain."
"What kind of weapon was that?"
"I don't know. StarFleet has never before encountered a lifeform with such an advanced weapon."
"Okay, let's show it our phasers. Fire!"

etk6.jpg

"We're doing no damage, Captain. Our weapons don't even reach its armour. There seems to be some kind of organic defense field..."
"So whatever it is, it's extremely powerful. It must have destroyed the Montblanc and the convoy. I've seen enough. Mr Sulu, get us out of here. Warp 1!"

etk7.jpg

"What's up, Scotty? No warp drive?"
"Something's destabilising the warp bubble. We'll have to get out of this nebula before we can warp!"
"Oh, great. Full impulse. Well, it seems like this lifeform has lost interest in us. Thank God.
"The sensors are detecting something ... you won't like that, Jim."

Thanks for the nice comments, guys! :)
The next part will soon be here, but first I'll have to install Chile's latest creations, the Scout and Destroyer for 8472. I really love this stuff...

And here's the 2nd part.

"Captain's Log, Stardate 2261.2. We have encountered several space-dwelling lifeforms which are definitely hostile. They must have destroyed the Montblanc and the convoy. Our ship was hit by an unknown, but very powerful weapon. We are trying to break through to Starbase 28, I have ordered Mr Scott to reroute all available power to the shields. Hopefully they'll hold for a few seconds as we are about to be attacked."

etk9.jpg

"Our shields are down again, Captain, and this time I can't do anything to bring them back online. Just try not to run into one of those critters again!"
"Okay, we'll do our best, Scotty! Mr Sulu, get us away from them!"

etk10.jpg

"Seems like they're gone. Phew, that was close. Mr Sulu, set a course for Starbase 28."
" ... there is something ..."

etk11.jpg

"Oh, great. I hope they don't detect us."
"I don't think so, Captain. They are flying away from us. It seems like we have almost reached the end of the 'green fog'."
"Good to hear, Mr Spock. If we survive this, I'm gonna buy a round for the officers."

etk12.jpg

"****! Sulu, away from them! Or we're dead!"
"I'm doing my very best, Captain!"
"Reverse engines in three... two... one... GO!"

etk13.jpg

"Captain's Log, Stardate 2261.2. We have left the 'green fog' and are now on the way to Starbase 28. The Enterprise is heavily damaged, but somehow I have the feeling that those beings were just playing around with us. Anyhow, I have to report to StarFleet Command that this area is extremely dangerous and should not be entered by any ship. I don't think that we will hear of the Montblanc or the convoy anymore."

And here's the end.
"Jim Kirk's Private Log, Stardate 2261.25. I can't believe it! When we wanted to show the sensor recordings to StarFleet Command, they weren't there! Somehow this 'green fog' must have affected the computer's ability to record the sensor information. But we saw it, so how is that possible?
Despite the missing evidence, Admiral Pike decided to believe us. Three ships were sent to investigate the 'green fog', but they found nothing. Maybe the beings returned to where they came from?
StarFleet Command officially denies the existence of those beings. They say that an unknown illness caused hallucinations which led us to believe that we saw the 'green fog' and the dangerous beings. And that we shot at our own ship.
However, there are three reasons why I still believe that we did not hallucinate.
First, the Montblanc and the convoy are still missing.
Second, the Montblanc reported the 'green fog' as well.

And third, I discovered something an hour ago. There's the old mechanical camera we used when we spied on the Romulan Outpost A-XIX last week (the Romulans use sensor-disabling technology). It recorded something. I am going to keep this picture secret. No one would believe the truth."

etkshot2.jpg

You may wonder now, what's up with that ending?
Nothing. I just read to much Lovecraft and now all I can think of are sanity-blasting abominations from distant dimensions. Sounds a lot like Species 8472, if you ask me.

Thanks to Jetfreak, who provided me with the JJprise. And thanks to Chiletrek, whose excellent Species 8472 ships I have used. We waited so long for ships like that... Thank you, guys! :)

Thanks for your positive feedback, people!

Right now I'm working on a new sub-project, one of those that will one day form parts of my personal install (when I'm done with the whole balancing stuff, I tend to think a lot about that. I want this thing to be well-balanced). I still don't have created all of the weapon sprites I will need, but that can be done later because right now I'm full of inspirations for this new sub-project. Soon I will be able to show a few screenshots of it, at least I hope to be able to do it. Keep an eye out for my old WIP thread to re-emerge from the depths of MSFC... :D

Those were taken from Avon's "Dominion Special Forces" pack. I got it from A2F, but I think you can find it here as well.

Iä! Iä! Arise, Necrothread!

I can't believe it's been more than two years since I last posted in my Screenshot Collection.

Anyway, since I'm not in the right mood for modding atm and just fooling around with my experimental A2 build, have some sweet screenys. They're not on par with what teh JF and others usually pull off, but they are mine. And there will be MOOOARRR!!!!11

Fed ships and yards by R5D5.
Fed starbase and orbital base by by Micheal Raab, texture elements from LC_Amaral and Red Dragon, further edits by teh JF.
Che'var by Avon.
Celestial bodies by Yacuzza.

Please excuse the quality, my desk is hopelessly overflowing with stuff. I had to use a paper on multiple view geometry as mousepad.

Great work, it's nice to see some straight out of the game screenshots. I love the Qeh'Ral been thinking of making a retro version for YY actually.

Are these from your mod, or just a mess around install?

Thanks! :excited: I wonder where the idea for this one came from. I mean, it just feels so retro compared to most of the fleet. From what I can tell it was intentionally designed as an older ship, and they did a really good job at giving it this kind of late-TMP/TLE feeling.

Are these from your mod, or just a mess around install?

They are from Wastelands, though I have to admit that I haven't quite worked the Miranda variants into it yet. They're still a bit, well, floating around until they find their ideal place in the mod. That I even got them to begin with was a real surprise to me.
