Anyone else grow up watching the World Wrestling Federation? Probably not. But I did. And it was fake as a three-dollar bill. But it was awesome for a kid like me. Not that I ever beat anyone up. My cousins did. I got to be the ringside announcer most of the time. Then my uncle would come into the room and chase us all around the house. Good times.
Anyway, one of the greatest WWF wrestlers and showmen of all time, the "Macho Man" Randy Savage, had a heart attack behind the wheel. His vehicle then hit a tree. And he died. Like so many who participate in wrestling, he died young-- he was only 58.
One of the things I loved most about the Macho Man was that he looked like a fashion emergency, he talked like he was on drugs, and he was so far over the top that things barely made any sense when he was involved. But he was who he was, and made no apologies for it. He was a brilliant entertainer. OHHHH YEAHHH.
RIP Macho.
