A very sad day indeed for me personally. One of my favorite authors, Ray Bradbury passed away Tuesday. He was 91. Author of Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, Tower of Glass and far too many others to include here. I read The Martian Chronicles when I was in English class way back in high school. Whenever I go to a bookstore, or a garage sale, it is a guaranteed certainty if he is the author I am going to purchase the book. Regardless of cost. Science Fiction lost an innovator and leading light. His works are full of humor and fantasy and even at their very darkest, show that no matter how bad things are, there is a way back to the light. It is amazing how accurately he forecast things like the iPod anad more.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful stories and vision with us Ray. Your words helped an unhappy teenager in an unhappy family situation by making him realize one merely has to dream and then persevere to make something real. We'll not see the likes of your talents again this way. The world is a little dimmer and greyer with you no longer being here. You'll be sorely missed. RIP, you've earned it. If I hear God laughing out loud after Tuesday, it is because He is reading The Martian Chronicles. Again. Especially the part about the town taking the rest of the day off.
