• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Just me again. When ever I attempt to duplicate something on a model that is already textured it seems to bugger up the textures on the model.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this occurs? Any help would be appreicated.

On AFC is an older version of Milkshape available. Try that version, as it does not screw up too often. The newer version have more bugs, don't ask me why, but it is like it.

Well, If you have already textured the "half", are you using 2 or more textures? If so, then that's where your problem would be. If you have groups textured differently, then you can only duplicate same textured groups.

Example:
group01 <texture01>
group02 <texture02>
group03 <texture01>

In this example, you could "hide" group02, which as you see, has a different texture from the other groups. Then, with that hidden, you could then freely duplicate all the groups of the same texture. The flip the duplicated part, then regroup them all together, forming one single group for that texture (this is optional, until your model is completed, which you'll be regrouping them all anyways). Since you still have the hidden group to duplicate, just hide all, then unhide the group02, duplicate, and flip. there you have all your parts reproduced, and mirrored, making a completed model.

I recommend build one side completely, then regroup all into single textured groups, duplicating, mirroring, and regrouping as the end of your build. After that point, your ready to make a hiearchy and export to SOD (if it's an A1 - A2 model you are making).

Thanks Syf I know what the problem is, there being two texture files, and I was duplicating both groups at the same time, which was buggering up the textures.

Glad I could help. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to make a small tutorial on making a hiearchy for another thread!;)
