• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

This program is an excellent alternative to Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE). Mozilla Firefox (MF) has many features that IE does.

Some of these include allowing to open tabs for new links instead of having to have a dozen windows open, which saves alot of space on your task bar. Allowing to install extensions and additions like calculators, download progress indicators and many other extensions available at the Mozilla website.

Since my discovery of this program, I have not used IE for web browsing, I have even been informed that very few hackers and viruses actually target MF compared to IE.

I personally strongly recommend this program as it has made web browsing so much easier, reliable and secure for me.

I was actually forced to start using Firefox a few days ago and I am actually disappointed in it. I was using IE7 Beta 2 before it decided to have a fatal error and now IE wont work at all, any version. But back to Firefox... pages load at least 4x slower than with my previous IE and I often have to refresh due to timeouts which never happened when I used IE7. If anyone can help me fix this I would appreciate it greatly since I don't know if I can get IE back and may be stuck using Firefox for a while.

It happens on the odd day, but I had it much worst with Internet Explorer. Usually the timeouts are in fact due to the sites being down or my internet itself having a bad connection. But 99.9% of the time it works like a charm.

Trekie, I suggest playing around with the settings, especially in the tools/options window.

I actually use both (IE6...not beta 7. I beta tested IE4, IE5, and IE6 years ago). I just haven't gotten used to MF.

LT, look in your PM box.

To be honest I found my Firefox loads tons faster than IE on my computer, and it can load multiple tabs faster than IE could load a single page in fact.
