I feel a trying on session coming up. But first I'll do the phasers. I've done most f the rest of the physical detailing I think.

Jetfreak - that part of the hull is unchanged from the Flight II so it should be possible to recreate that deflector. I'm not sure how I'd go about putting a Sovereign style dish in that space.

Hello:
I keep beating this dead horse, but golden sovereign dish. :p

Is it possible to transplant the ver 2 deflector into the new mesh? Could work.

"Something you can transplant? ... Something you can transplant!?"... That's a quote from Carol Marcus for you :D .

Initial power up test. The deflector has yet to be replaced (and appears to be misaligned), some of the lights came on a bit bright and there seems to have been a structural failure in both of the aft facing observation areas - fortunately the emergency forcefields came up when the window supports blew out. Other than that not a bad test.
Still waiting on the phaser installation - rumours suggest they'll be arriving Tuesday.

Progressing great. When you're finished I might share it with the author of the Voyager full circle books on Trekbbs. :)

Feel free. But she's not finished yet!
Rumours were wrong and the phaser arrays have been installed (although they do need a texture).
Lightbulbs have been replaced and the aft observation lounges repaired.
I've discovered a couple of mesh errors to fix (blast it) and the deflector definitely needs a remap. But if I'm going to use the Intrepid II deflector then it needs a full rebuild anyway.
Other tasks on the ToDo list:
Bump map
Replace the registry mesh (it's the Intrepid II version and it doesn't quite fit properly)

Hello:
I saw one o those pics on DeviantArt :D . But by taking a closer look here, I can say that only the Deflector might need some reworking. The ship is looking great :) .

Avalon Yards, our kooks here at Subic Yards have been tinkering with a deflector proposal codenamed "Cobra". Using a new layout that roughly follows the outline of the Intrepid-III's secondary hull curve.

It's a rough design pass, but something to consider kjc if I'd take my shot at it.

Some orange for Jetfreak. I quite like it so far, not sure if I'm better off with or without the armour though.

EDIT - Any ideas what to do with the centre bit?

I personally prefer sans-armor.

Any ideas what to do with the centre bit?

This is a good question. It looks too small to do a variant of the pattern on the original deflector. The Galaxy deflector has a couple dots that might work. The Sovereign and JJprise deflectors have a sort of flower/starburst pattern, though they're much more round.

Yes, the traditional look does it for me. Try a blue glow ala Galaxy on the central orange bit.

Do you mean turn the glowing orange blue? Or add another glow in the middle?

Yes, my suggestion for the edit would approximate to this area.

Interesting. Will give that a go.
For now, here's the latest after the addition of lights, tractor emitters and some poly reduction.
At this point it's just texture tweaks and modification to the glows plus the addition of a bump map.

Hello:
I like how it is looking indeed! My favs are pics 2 and 3. Pic 2 because of the Sovereign-like union between the deflector area with the saucer. And pic 3 makes the ship look like Voyager in permanent warp :D .

Well for some reason I can't get the bump map to work (it was so much easier to do in v12 ), so I'm declaring her done... for now

Hello:
Aazing work! Too bad about the bump maps, but those can be done later as the ship is already done and looks fantastic.

Even better news - a test upload to shapeways shows only minor thin wall issues at a 15cm size.

Thank you.
My intention after Christmas is to try and tweak the hull and start selling her on Shapeways (but then, that's my plan for a lot of models...)
And Hellkite, I haven't forgotten. But I needed something to obsess over for a bit and I knew from past experience that the Intrepid works.

I'm in no rush for it my friend

It was just a reminder, given its class name "Resolution" as well as you saying you were done for the year and pondering what to do next.

In short was to good of a setup for me to pass up. ;)
