• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

    We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Hey there.. if any of you may or may not know, i'm in the market for ideas for intresting and Unique abilitys that challenge conventional thinking. I'm building an ability bassed mod i may post about here in the future.. but for the time.. if any of you have started ideas that weren't practical for your past projects.. i love to take and prefect them. I'm building in FO code.. but many things are still possible even in old a2 code.

Not to keep harking on to BSGHRM v2.0 :D but I was personally very proud of the weapons we developed for it - specifically the flak and the nuke. Both of which were accomplished in much the same way: MUBall -> Ion Storm -> Shockwave weapon. Basically using this combo you can make something akin to an artillery weapon that has any special as an output (so the nuke output an sensor jammer and a shockwave). So, engine jamming torpedoes, maybe even a nebula generating torpedo? Just takes an imagination and an idea of what races you want to fit them to.

I am Exoploring intresting ideas using uball objects..... Such as a working resource stealing weapon. Multi-effect targetabl uBalls will play a large part.

I"m always fond of SOD based weapons myself. You can make suicide bombers, swarming weapons that circle around a ship dealing constant damage, give them trails and other cool sprite effects. :thumbsup:

All of those are awesome possibilities, I myself have done so little about that and I am always impressed to how the rest of modders can do, I salute you all :salute: (yes, I wanted to use that emoticon accordingly someday).

I remember that there is also the chance of making wave-versions of several of the A2 special weapons, like wave engine overload or wave 8472 Psionic Disruption. Maybe those can help too... maybe for limited units as wave weapons affect many units?
