• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Hello. I'm AbsintheFairy, but you can shorten that to Absi or Abs once you have read this. I am a computer junkie and a somewhat new Trekkie. I may be young, but what I lack in age, I make up for in my ever increasing knowledge. I have known Syf for a few years in person, but I do not wish to be known just as Syf's friend.

Like I said earlier, I am young. I'm 21 (getting ready to be 22) and just a small town girl. I have a fascination for technology and i like to tinker around with things. My fiance and I both mess with computers all the time and can usually be found watching our weekly shows on the computer, using a tv for a monitor, when we're not helping someone fix their computer.

However, I am not just a computer junkie, I am a certified nerd. I spend time in the local comic book/trading card store admiring the various SciFi posters on the walls in between rounds of Magic The Gathering tournaments.

I watch anything and everything from Star Wars to Star Trek, from Ghost Hunters to Alphas. I watch my fair share of vampire shows and movies as well as WWE. I game online from time to time on WoW, but I'm not one to game much online.

If you have any questions at all, feel free to ask me.

Welcome to MSFC. Sounds like you and my daughter would get on very well. She's a similar age and has nearly matching interests. I am glad you're here and look forward to seeing more of you, "Syf's friend". rofl

Indeed we have people in their 50's and all the way down through the generations to the really young ones at 12 years old. I myself am 27 and my wife is 34.

Syf's friend huh, well I am Syf's friend too. Having known him since 2004, my only regret is having not met him in person, but I plan one day to do so.

Welcome to MSFC! Don't worry about your age, as there are several members here who are still in their teens.:) This is one of the most diverse(age wise and nationality wise) websites out there.

When I read yout intro I couldn't help but think of the Journey song.

thanks everyone. I have known Syf for a little over 2 years and actually work with him. I believe i get to see him tomorrow at my job. wednesdays me and him are usually scheduled to work together. if not tomorrow, I will definately see him thursday. Just hope he actually gets on here sometime to say hi since I told him last weekend that I had signed up for this and let him know my screen name.

and as for the Absinthe name, I guess I should give a little history behind it....

I'm sure you know what Absinthe is and if not, just google it. Marilyn Manson is a known drinker of Absinthe and a few years ago, I started doing research on Absinthe because of Manson. I found out that before Absinthe was banned in the United States, people would claim to have hallucinations involving "la fée verte" or The Green Fairy due to, what was believed at the time, the thujone that was used in Absinthe. In 2008, the ban on Absinthe was lifted after studies indicated that the spirit was as dangerous as any other spirit on the shelf. Absinthe also contains Wormwood that gives it it's bitter taste. Based on everything that I had learned about Absinthe and The Absinthe Fairy as well as studying folklore on the fae, I realized The Absinthe Fairy herself was just as mischievous as myself. The fae, according to folklore, like to mess with people. They are vicious creatures that disguise themselves to appear innocent. So, I acquired the screen name Absinthe Fairy just before the Absinthe ban was lifted and have lived up to the name in many ways.

I hope this helps enlighten some about why I chose the name as while I may look innocent, I can be as mischievous as The Green Fairy.

Also, thanks to Hellkite for the avatar. It is much appreciated.

well, i am one to be online alot. i just have to remember to actually bookmark the page. been having to go through my email to get the link. my older brother is the one who actually converses with everyone up at the comic book shop we hang out in, i'm not good at socializing in person so i tend to keep to myself.

As for images, i'm a graphics designer in my spare time. just one of my computer junkie habits. lol. it was nice for HK to send me the avatar and I designed my own signature. I'm re-learning photoshop and i'm using CS5 and it's some new territory for me as i'm used to CS3 Extended.

I do just about anything and everything though. I used to DJ online, even had my own server and site. We shut down about a week ago due to funds being short and no members. So since me and Syf had been talking a few weeks about this site, I looked it up and decided to join. Been forever since I've been on actual forums but I don't think I've lost my touch with them.

I use CS3 Extended myself and have for a number of years now.

I do a lot of photoshop work but my main passion in the art field is 3d modelling that Syf actually taught me after one day I became determined to learn.

Welcome Abby. Abby, is the name that came to mind when I seen your screen-name. Glad to see you finally come to the dark side of the moon, er, I mean our little corner on the web.

Yes, Abby here manages to help keep me in line at my main job. Without her, I might have wanted to nuke the place tonight. Or at least call in a favor for a Spectre to bring the rain. I know, that would be an abuse of friends in the right places, but hey, it would have been funny.

But yes, Abby and I work together a couple nights a week usually. She is one of the few people in this region of the USA that knows what "CPU" stands for. I can honestly say when either of us are at work, the collective IQ of where we work actually is above that of "Here's your sign!"

I would have been on here sooner to welcome you... but honestly, I forget things way too much. But I am working on getting this memory issue fixed.

Seriously? You're going to start calling me Abby? Oh well, guess it's better than Banana. lol. And when do we never want to destroy that place? I seriously think computers are starting to plot against me there. What's bad is I tend to try and go faster than those stupid things. I will admit though that Syf is usually who I yell for when computers screw up.

But enough about work..... It's glad to see you finally made it on to say hi, Syf.

I don't know what else to say right now so I guess I shall go wander on other bits of the internet while eating oranges.

Seriously getting addicted to this site! I log onto here first instead of facebook.... yup, officially addicted to here!

Addicted... ha ha, I will not tell the secret of the Ketracel-white that we have surging through your keyboard. One touch is highly addictive. Oops, did I say that out loud?

Would you please look at the pen while I put on my shades? yes, like that.

*Flash* you will forget you ever read this post.;)

Hk - It would be funny to see it rain at work. Just make sure you give me a 5 minute warning so I can get to a good viewpoint.

Kinda makes me wonder how many times Y'all have used the Flashy Thingy on the rest of us. Was that really a weather balloon which exploded due to swamp gas?
